TKB Bakery & Deli - Chipotle, chicken sandwich

TKB Bakery & Deli

I've been coming to this place for years. It's about time I leave a review…read more Homemade bread... what else could you ask for. My go to is the Buffalo soldier, an absolutely fantastic sandwich. I drive 100+ miles for a clinic down the street for work occasionally and coming here is the highlight of the day. They recently increased the thickness of the bacon in the sandwich... freaking epic! As if this sandwich could get any better. Keep rockin' TKB!

The space is bright and has good vibes throughout. It's hard to walk by the bakery counter first on your way to the deli line, everything looks so amazing! The deli line moves fast, they're quite efficient and friendly at the register. Most ordered sandwich is the Trump Card, but today I opted for the Mexican Marilyn Monroe on jalapeño focaccia (you have your choice between jalapeño focaccia or cranberry focaccia). The sandwich is unique with its freshly made chicken salad topped with bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and a chipotle aioli. Pure perfection though it can get a bit messy (get extra napkins). Served with fresh dill pickle slice. I shared my sandwich with my BFF who shared her Trump Card, pretty tasty too! And we had fried pickles (really goo The team are seem happy to be there, smiling over the counter as they make sandwiches. I'd be happy and proud of myself if I was cranking out the best sandwiches around! We didn't leave without stopping by the bakery "Athena's" to pick up some cannolis, Dubai Chocolate Pastry, a peanut Butter Brownie Mousse and a Keylime Mousse. We took them to go (absolutely no stomach real-estate after the sandwiches). All were good but rich peanut butter brownie mousse stood out as our favorite!!! I do wish the bakery sold the jalapeño focaccia, I would have loved to have taken some home! I'll be back, often.

Outstanding Service at Jersey Mike's Priscilla made this…read morehands-down the best experience I've ever had at a Jersey Mike's. From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with a smile that truly lit up the room. Her energy, kindness, and genuine positivity immediately stood out. What impressed me most was how patient and thoughtful she was with a group of ladies who were having difficulty speaking English. Priscilla went out of her way to communicate with them, even attempting Spanish--and she did a great job. That level of care and effort is rare and speaks volumes about who she is as a person. Everything about the visit felt welcoming, smooth, and pleasant because of her. I honestly wish there were more people like Priscilla everywhere. She's amazing, and Jersey Mike's is lucky to have her. Give this woman her flowers--period.

First the good news. The subs were very, very good. This should have been a 5 star review with no…read moretrouble but... it was beyond chaotic and disorganized. I arrived about 1:45 in the afternoon. There was one person in front of me. I ordered one hot sub and one cold sub knowing that I would need to wait a few extra minutes for the hot sub to cook. I'm a regular supporter of Jersey Mike's so I know how things work. The girl who was to put the veggies on my sub has no listening skills. She asked if I wanted it Mike's way and I said "no". She asked what I wanted and I started to tell her that I wanted pickles, onions, tomatoes and pepper relish. I got as far as "pickles..." and she said You want mayo? I said no I started again pickles, onions... she said Do you want mayo? Again I said no. Nothing added to my sub yet so I started over Pickles... she said Do you want lettuce? I said no. She again asked if I wanted mayo. Nope, I sure don't. We finally got through it. I went to pay. She was now the cashier and I was the last in line so no one else was waiting to be served. I told her I had a hot sub coming and I held up the slip. She rang up my sub and asked if I wanted anything else I held up the slip. She added it. I paid and stood off to the side to wait for my sub. 2 or 3 minutes went by and she came over and said "Are you waiting for something?" I said yes, the hot sub I just paid you for. She suggested I have a seat. I said no thank you not realizing that I wasn't going anywhere soon. Several people came in looking for their to go orders and were frustrated to hear that they "still" weren't ready. I waited. Finally I asked the guy putting orders into take out bags if he could check on my order. He came back to say that it hadn't even been started. That is when I realized the grill cook was making sandwiches one at a time. I expressed some mild frustration since we are traveling and I didn't really want the subs for supper. He said he would go help the grill cook. I kinda feel bad for the girl on the grill because she acts like she's new at this. Each sub she cooked she picked up off the grill with the spatula and grill scraper to carry 5' to her right to put it on a role. One of them she dropped on the counter. I did eventually leave with the subs and they were very good. I'm writing this because the manager has a few opportunities to improve the performance at this site. After the afternoon rush, there is zero reason why I was there for nearly a half hour while there were 5 confused employees working. I'll probably stop again on my way from AZ to San Diego but if it's this insane for no reason next tim it will be the last time.

This salad place is the casual choice from the higher end eating establishments within the same shopping center. I ordered the salad and sandwich combo. The combo I chose was a small salad and half sandwich. The salad is HUGE and so is the sandwich. It was literally enough for three people and I am not a light water! The small salad came with one protein house and I got the lemon chicken. It was fresh, tender, tart, and all white meat. I also got two cold choices and the three from the next section. The dressing choices are far too many to list but they were all great soUnding and clearly marked on the wall. I got the avocado ranch. It had a jalapeño next to it but I didn't taste any spice whatsoever. The bed of the salad is romaine. It was crunchy, clean, cut in bite sized pieces. The sandwich I ordered was a panini. Now to be fair, this was not a classic panini. It was not on a baguette and it was not hot pressed. This was on a round bun with sesame seeds that was lightly toasted- I think. I ordered the Milan. It was chicken that was mixed with Pesto and it has spinach, red bell peppers, avocado, and a Sriracha mayo. It was tasty but confusing bcz I expected a hot pressed sandwich. The combo came with a drink. I ordered the tamarindo. It was cold, sweet, and slightly tart. It was everything I expected from this refreshing drink. I loved this place and will def be back. I don't visit Mexicali often but now I know where I can get a fresh meal when i crave something different from the typical fare in this area.
