A-OK is right. Came here with a small group for a quick bite to eat. I had heard good things about this place and pass it all the time, so I thought we would go here. I ordered a quesadilla, and to be honest I don't remember what anyone else got although my friend did get a margarita which was decent. We were hungry, so we weren't too picky. But nothing was really hitting the spot. Everything was just, okay. I don't know about you, but nothing makes me sadder than mediocre food and that's what Chuy's was to me. I will say that the inside is pretty cool! Lot's of decor which makes for a fun ambiance. Although the wait staff had a bit to be desired. I honestly wanted to like this place. Have you ever been to the restaurant "Chevy's"? If so, this place will remind you instantly of that place. You know... fresh made tortillas and fresh made guac by the table. Needless to say, I was a bit excited because I really like Chevy's. So when my family and I decided to try Chuy's on a Sunday afternoon, we were a bit disappointed not only by the service, but by the par-for-the-course take they had on Tex Mex. Don't get me wrong, I realize it was Sunday afternoon and the place was packed, but I know this place can do better. As far as the service goes, when we sat down, the service was so slow that we watched multiple tables who were seated after us get served and out of the restaurant before we were even given our food. I mean, come on guys... I know you're aiming for quality before speed. But, it's Tex Mex. Not too complicated. Our server was only seen a handful of times and he definitely looked a bit addled (maybe he had too many tables?). Refills on drinks were almost non-existent. As far as the food goes, it was decent. Nothing noteworthy. I had the soft tacos with fresh made tortillas (which were one of the best parts). I can say I've definitely had better and worse in regards to flavor. For example, we get the fajita for two and split it. The steak lacked flavor and was over cooked and dry. The chips and salsa were not as good as the location in idrive. What an awesome place! I'm not a huge Tex Mex fan but I had so much fun dining here two days ago. Our waitress Co-Jo (that was her nickname tag for the night) was so great, friendly with fast service and she was patient, explaining/informing happy hour, free nacho bar during happy hour, swirl margarita (she convinced me to try a strawberry and lime swirl one and I loved it!) and various food and sauce. The portion was perfect and veggie enchilada was delicious! Guess and nacho was yummy and it was free till 7pm. If you like Tex Mex, this is a solid choice. The decor is quirky, and borderline cheesy, but that just highlights their Austin roots. Happy hour specials are nothing spectacular, with $5.25 margaritas and $3.50 domestic bottles. But the real star is the self-serve unlimited nacho bar, with beef, refried beans, cheese, and salsa. You can easily fill up on that if you want. Nevertheless, the entree portions are huge, and are a fantastic value at around $10 each. Horrible service and pretty bad food and drinks. I was super excited when I saw this super lit-up and well-decorated restaurant being built on 17-92. I assumed it would be somewhat like Chilli's. I went in on a Saturday night looking forward to some yummy Mexican drinks (maybe those big slushy margaritas) and some tasty, flavorful Mexican food! I could already hear the sizzle of the fajitas!! Upon entering, I was given a buzzer which I was told would go off in about 15-20min. In the meantime I sat at the bar with my boyfriend. We couldn't decide on what to drink. Our bartender was very nice and gave us lots of samples but we didn't like anything. I ended up with a skinny Patrón margarita which was just okay. We sipped on our drinks for about 20min and realized we were super hungry so we ordered an appetizer. 30min later my boyfriend went to the front desk to ask about our table and found out that they never wrote our name down. They told us to go seat ourselves outside. We then grabbed our own plates, appetizer, and drinks and chose a spot outside. No one bothered to help us carrying our things- not very nice! Someone finally came to our table (without menus) and said "you've already ordered,right?" And no, we had not. We did find the menu online and knew what we wanted. We ordered a fajita for one. Finally came out without plates and without silverware. My boyfriend got up and got us silverware and we shared the plate that our appetizer came on (they forgot to clear off our table after the appetizer). The food was honestly not that great. We waited for like 20min before getting our bill. Then another 20min before they picked it up. At this point we just wanted to get out of there!! I'm very surprised that the manager never came to check on our table. I feel like a lot of things went wrong with our entire experience and no one cared or took any note of it. We wanted to address the manager before leaving, but we were honestly so tired and had been there for such a long time that it wasn't worth it. Our bill came out to $75. I never have a problem paying for a nice meal out and I even go to very expensive restaurants and pay more than $75 but I truly felt like our experience was not worth that amount at all. I guess this experience would have been better if this place hadn't been so new? I actually had never been to a Chuy's before and wanted to give this a try on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with my family (which included in 7 month old son). Honestly there wasn't a huge wait... maybe 10 minutes? But it got crowded quickly and started to back up from there. The food was ok. I was really excited about the house made tortillas... but when I saw them hand making them they were taco sized and I happened to order a burrito so I am not sure if it was the same. I also ordered from the kid's menu and it was still a pretty big portion (surprisingly). It didn't come with a drink or anything else and I found that odd for a kid's menu choice. I ordered some queso to have with our chips before our meal. It ended up coming out AFTER the meal... I honestly have to say I hate that. Server was pretty flighty and he was serving too many tables and often didn't give us the full attention we needed. Waiting for water refills too long :( I think the server was the main reason I couldn't go beyond 3 stars here. I really wish I could remember his name. He did, however, go get some avocado slices for my son and did not charge us for them so that was a nice thing. It took some time though for them to make it back to us. Used to love coming here to get food when I needed a break from campus food at Rollins. Came here on New Years Eve with a group of 6, we all had different entree's but 5/6 became sick with food poisoning within a short time. At first we didn't think it was related but this was our only shared point of contact and food consumed outside of regular snacks. Spent the first 2 days of 2019 throwing up, nauseous, and just poorly. Called Chuys to inform them that maybe there was food contamination or something very politely, not blaming them at all. The waitress on the phone was very nice but when I got a call back from the manager, he didn't seem to believe it was the restaurant's fault or care that we were sick and didn't seem to even consider the possibility of cross-contamination of cutting boards or unwashed hands or something in the kitchen (I get it, mistakes happen). Poor response in my opinion. Will not be visiting here ever again. Cool decor, food is ok, service is usually ok. My family and I were visiting from New York and wanted Mexican food. We saw that there were numerous restaurants and chose chuys because it was the closest and let me tell you, we were NOT disappointed. We saw that it was busy but they were able to sit us within minutes. The tables and decor looked really rustic which was a a cool experience. I'm not sure if it was because of the holidays but they were doing animal balloons and group photos (which we forgot to ask for). The food was delicious. Went here Friday night 09/16/2016 for my Brothers birthday. I called earlier in the week to ask if they did reservations or call ahead seating. The young lady I spoke with advised " We don't do reservations, but if you call us about a half hour before coming in since you or a large party we can start planning and getting ready for you to come in." Dinner was for 7 PM, and not only did we call and find out they don't do such a thing but we had someone get to the restaurant at 6:30 PM to get out name in since we had a large party. We didn't get sat till 8:15, it took an hour and 45 minutes for them to accommodate us. Once seated i do want to say Chris and Natalie the servers were really nice and accommodating. How ever the food was less than sub par. I ordered a side sale, with rice and grilled chicken. Chicken never came, like never. Maybe they were trying to catch the chicken and cook it fresh. This was my first time dining here and I'd say the overall experience was sub par. The exterior of the restaurant is eye catching as well as the interior but the service and food was mediocre. Our waitress was nice but service was slow, but that was understandable after seeing how crowded it was. This is just a must have place for me every time I'm in a town that has a Chuy's. I'm from California so definitely not lacking when it comes to Mexican food, but Tex Mex is the delicious comfort food you want and Chuy's does it best. Get their boom boom sauce on the side if it doesn't come on your dish because that sauce is AMAZING. Also their jalapeño cilantro ranch, I've tried to copy it so I have something back home but always look forward to the real thing at Chuy's. She brought the appetizer plate.(pictured) The nachos were my favorite. But all of it was good. They serve chips, salsa and a jalapeño ranch tasting dip automatically. It's ADDICTING!!!! The 'Grand Ma's Rockin' Rita' was excellent! I was actually jealous of the recipe. I'm known for my margaritas, and this was better than mine. We didn't have dinner but we did have appetizers. Everything was very good. Enjoyed the atmosphere, too. It was a little cramped for my taste, but otherwise was very enjoyable. Our server, Natalie, gave very good service. Checked in on us regularly and was friendly and efficient. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because we did not have dinner so I can't really critique the food. I've always been a big fan of coming here but today I was slightly disappointed. I should start by saying that their queso, salsa, and creamy jalepeno dips are great starters. Chips are thin, crispy, and salty which are a must for me! Their boom boom chicken enchiladas are amazing as well. Fast forward to today (and I'm also trying to be understanding of social distancing requirements in restaurants)-- we waited for 10 minutes or so just to get seated (no one was at the hostess stand). We also waited an abnormally long time before our server came over and took our drink order. The food came out promptly but our server didn't come back to refill our water, and it took a while to get a box and our check. The restaurant wasn't packed (every other table was reserved) but perhaps they were understaffed. It looked like maybe 3 servers were holding down the fort of the entire restaurant. I have eaten at Chuy's two time before. The servicers and manager that I have had before were very helpful. Tonight, my total experience was horrible. I have a gluten allergy - the servicer and manager were clueless. I was told - there is nothing on the menu I can have, another than salad. I ask the manager for baked chips instead of fried, which I had before. Manager, seem to have knowledge. They made know afford to assist me. I only had a drink - so I would ruin the night for everyone else. I know my choices are limited but tonight servicer and manager were not willing to assist in any way... I was a die-hard Chuy's fan up until Covid hit. I kept getting takeout, but the quality of the food finished in my opinion, and it's like the restaurant started using far less ingredients? I know that sounds bizarre, but everything I would order had more of the cheap ingredients and less of the expensive ingredients. My chicken burrito started to come with FAR less chicken inside, just packed with beans. Had to search for the chicken. It also comes now with only Mexican rice, no lettuce jalapeño or fresh tomatoes it has had for uh...years, with the dish. The Mexican tortilla soup now has no flavor at all- it's 3/4 or more straight chicken broth with very very little chicken or anything else. I got a thumbnail sized piece of avocado this last time. Came here for co workers birthday get together, the restaurant was clean and upbeat. Not a wait at all, free chip stand with warm nacho cheese, ground beef, salsa, and warm chips in the bar area! This was really awesome considering I was so hungry upon arrival after a long serving shift. I ordered a fajita to split with a coworker- which was fabulous. I also ordered a $7.00 cocktail which was good but not worth the price- this was happy hour price btw. On a side note my coworkers pretty much all received drinks they didn't ask for, but booze is booze. Me and another coworker told our serve Phoebe we wanted to split a fajita and we would each pay for our drink individually, instead of only splitting fajita our server split the entire bill (my drink, his drink, and fajita) down the middle. My bill should have been about $3 less than my co workers, (because my drink was $3 less than his) and I never got to see the subsidized check before my card was ran-- but it would have been more trouble than it was worth to complain. ALL the servers are new, I mean even the bussers it looked like. I feel once the restaurant has a more experienced staff this place will be jamming, not to mention the manager was super nice and we all had a good time for co workers birthday with a surprise dessert, blah blah blah.
