Fav restaurant ever! Best creamy jalapeño dip. Best enchiladas. Chips are thin and crisp. Refried beans and rice are flavorful and delicious. Staff is friendly. read more

Had dinner here last night with family (5 adults & 1 child). It was early evening, during happy hour. Therefore the salsa/queso bar was open & we enjoyed the free sauces & queso!! Service was very good (which I remembered her name). My dinner was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Will definitely return. (Note: I LOVE the white dip) One major con for this location: It is often VERY loud between the poor acoustics and loud music. I go out to eat to enjoy the food and CONVERSATION. read more

Yes, it's a chain. However, the menu options can be quite tasty and have a certain..."clean" taste. My particular favorite, the fish tacos (I usually get one grilled, the other fried), consist of a large filet of fish with coleslaw, jalapeno cream sauce (think ranch combined with a light jalapeno flavor) on a corn tortilla. The meal is accompanied by rice (pick the chili rice) and charro beans. Very tasty and very filling. I have yet to try the happy hour, but I've heard that the free nachos and great drinks are tremendously popular. Most locations tend to have a wait time, but don't worry, its actually worth it. read more

This place is expensive and mediocre. The creamy jalapeno sauce and chips are the only redeeming factors. I am not a fan of Chuy's, but you might be if you fall into one of the following categories: 1. You like Chili's 2. You like chain restaurants/atmosphere without much regard for taste 3. You don't really like Mexican food, but are in the mood for Mexican As a disclaimer: many of my friends love this place. As a foodie, I cannot in good faith recommend it. read more

No one needs to knock this Barton Springs outpost. This is probably the friendliest, most prompt, and genuinely interested wait staff of any Chuy's. Not knocking my all-time favorite, but there is no Austin aloofness here. These are Waco people, nice to the core. They even offer the creamy jalapeño up front and a drink to-go on the back end. Chuychanga was Austin good. Chips were fresh and my drink refilled. Lots of people here for lunch, which indicates it's good in a Waco which offers far more choices than it used to. Highly recommend! I'm giving it a 5. Hope you do too. read more

The best Tex-Mex straight outta Austin comes to Waco. Chuy's is an awesome experience, start to finish. To me, it is the gold standard of mexican by which all other restaurants are measured. FOOD: delicious. Cheesy. Filling. Just spicy enough. Creative. Chips and salsa are hands-down the best I've ever had in Waco. I almost always eat a big-as-yo-face burrito. Save half, eat it later... it's like cold pizza, so wrong but so ::right:: SERVICE: not as alternative-cutesy or enthusiastic as the Austin crew, but no complaints. PRICE: it's not cheap, especially by Waco standards, but it's well worth it. The prices were less than El Chico or Elite Grill for sure. The bill for enchiladas including tip comes to right under $10, if I remember correctly. ATMOSPHERE: sooo many fun decorations. Kind of loud. Music: I've heard them play country here, which is sacrilege!! (compared to other Chuy's). Get some classic rock or something in there. The only bad things is it's too wonderful for it's own good - i.e. expect some crowds on the weekends. Still. The best meals I've ever had in Waco. I wouldn't lie to you. Chuy's is THAT good. read more

Chuy's is delightful. It's not crazy expensive (at least for lunch), the food is great and the atmosphere is a lot of fun. I'm already planning my Cinco De Mayo birthday party here (and that's several months away). read more

The food was really awesome, super tasty and delicious. The service was almost perfect, we went without a waiter for around 10 minutes. The only downside I have to my time here was that there was a hair in the salsa, and definitely not my hair (a long black strand in the salsa, my hair is blonde). I would recommend this place, very nice and friendly staff along with comfortable seating. read more

Terrible & expensive top shelf margarita on the rocks ..$13 plus for one & it was unable to be consumed by anyone at our table :) ...not impressed w waco chuys..guess Austin spoiled us read more

I have been to Chuy's in Dallas many times, and the Waco location is much the same goodness. I haven't found much on the menu that I don't like, and the Hatch Green Chile sauce is a certain winner, if you are up for medium-hot culinary fare. Ask for the creamy jalepeno dip when they bring out your chips and salsa. You can thank me later. read more

Love me some Chuy's. I had the pork belly tacos (keto friendly) and they were so delicious. Margaritas were very good as well. No mix for these guys. Genuine recipe. read more

We love Chuy's! Almost always have a perfect experience. We did just go in and the el carbon beef tacos were really bad sadly! There was so much fat and it was so tough you couldn't bite through it. Wendy the manager was great and took care of it, but hope they can change their beef soon as this has happened before! read more

Starting with the free chips, these were already subpar. So many of them were so oily that they were literally bendy and not edible. The dipping sauces were different in a good way, but were just hard to enjoy with the lack of good chips. The food was dry and lacking creativity. I ordered the Southwestern enchiladas and it was just two blue corn tortillas stacked onto of each other with a bit of chicken in between them. The over easy egg on top did very little to help with the dryness. Not the most enjoyable meal but the atmosphere is great: similar to a mix of Buca's and Rosa's combined (family style and colorful). read more

Staying at hotel near by.. went to the bar to order take out and was told that was a different DEPARTMENT!! It's a restaurant!!!!take out lady finally came over and I asked her why the bar tender can't place a takeout order.. she threw out attitude and told me it was up to the bartender if she wanted to take the order!! So if you need takeout sit at the bar and order.. when served ask for a to go container!!! Much easier! Idiots! read more

I have hired Chuy's many times for catering events at Baylor. The price is reasonable, the food delicious and they are easy to work with. We had to get 200 people through a buffet line in less than 30 minutes and the Chuy's staff did this. They are also very friendly. I strongly recommend Chuy's. read more

One word: Yummy! The food here is great. They include several choices for salsas on your food from spices to mild. Prices are competitive. read more

My wife and I go to Waco every Christmas to visit her parents. I love Mexican and Tex-Mex food, so we decided to try Chuy's Fine Tex-Mex, which had just opened in Waco a few weeks earlier. Chuy's is a small chain based out of Austin (4 restaurants as of late 2009). I am not a big chain food fan, but I went in with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised! The parking lot was packed when we arrived, but we were seated within 10 minutes. Everything about our dining experience exceeded my expectations! The service was excellent, the menu had a wide selection and the prices were VERY reasonable (nearly all dinners were under $10). My wife had a "Dot" frozen margarita that she enjoyed. I had their "Elvis Presley Memorial Combo", which consisted of a beef Tex-Mex enchilada, cheese Ranchero enchilada, chicken Tomatillo enchilada, beef taco and tortilla dipped in queso. Everything tasted very fresh and flavorful, and there was enough to take home for lunch the next day. My wife had the "Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom" enchilada which was good as well. Overall, I was very impressed with Chuy's as a good quality and budget-friendly restaurant. I will visit one again when I am back in Texas! read more

Grace was an EXCELLENT server! I stopped by on my way back home from a business trip & she was very attentive despite it being super busy.

Chuy's is one of the nation's better chains. The food is always fast, tasty and inexpensive and the service is always friendly. I love their enchiladas, salads and combo plates! My bfs parents live just outside of Waco, so it's a great place to stop on the drive in from Dallas (airport). read more

Chuy's - Cobb salad was delicious - Tex-Mex Near Me - Waco, Texas

My, how time changes things. PLEASE go back to you pre-Covid menu. Choices have become tiresome.

Creamy jalapeno sauce. Need I say more? They're stingy with that stuff though, so unless you ask for it directly...you won't get it. And trust me, you want it. I've been known to go through a few bowls at one sitting. Besides that obvious treasure, they do have pretty decent tex-mex and pretty great service. The atmosphere is fun & laidback. Come casual or dolled up...and don't forget the creamy jalapeno sauce. Happy hour from 4-7 Mon-Fri = free queso, 3.75 margs (regular, strawberry or swirl), $2.50 beers and $7 martini shakers (makes about 3 drinks). And did I mention the creamy jalapeno sauce? read more

Great TexMex chain in TX and outside TX. Always busy and packed with people having some good TexMex. I ordered the beef fajita tacos with flour tortilla. It came with beans and rice. I was not able to finish the platter because it came with so much food. We also ordered guacamole to go with the complimentary chips and salsa. The guac was fresh and great. Always a great place for some good TexMex. read more

Never could get in the Austin one.....sorry I got seated here! Watery salsa....one of the alternates tasted like Beef Barley Soup!?! My Tacos al Carbon arrived with contents cold to the touch. Crumbly chips didn't help the experience...crowded seating next to toddlers added so much! Ne'er again! read more

. A good restaurant the beans are not mushy enough and the shells are not that good but they have good service and a nice atmosphere it is very traditional and it's quick an it's very clean but I'm kind of picky and it's very nice by 10 year old. read more

The food is great! Probably why this location is always so busy. We went on a Friday and there was one spot open in the parking lot but we were still seated within 20 minutes. Although it was a madhouse I was blown away by the friendly staff. My daughter (she's 4 years old) told our waiter to give her compliments to the chef. Our waiter actually took the time to find the chef and tell him this. All of a sudden Jacob, our chef, came to our table and said thanks to my daughter. It made her week! Just before leaving the restaurant Jacob came back and brought my daughter a very nice gift. Again...it was busy but that didn't stop our waiter and chef from appreciating a compliment from a very friendly 4 year old. If you've never had Chuy's you should really try it. The Queso is the best! read more

This place has always been an alright Tex-Mex chain to go to, but definitely is not the best Tex-Mex you can find. The chicken fajitas are mediocre, so I'd definitely recommend the beef fajitas instead. The other two good things that Chuy's is known for is their creamy jalapeño sauce and their tortillas. read more

Chuy's has my favorite fish tacos ever--the Baja tacos--and the creamy jalapeno sauce/dip can't be beat. It's a classic Austin Tex-Mex joint if you're looking for the best chips and fresh salsa, good margaritas, and seriously delicious food. As far as "chain" restaurants go, this is one of the best! read more

Same as all the other Chuys... Love the creamy jalapeno, their queso is great. Chuy's is great Tex-Mex, although a little different than your usual Tex-Mex place, they have their own spin on things. Try the boom-boom sauce on a burrito or enchiladas... Love the chili rellenos, cheese enchiladas, and my all time fave is the big as yo' face bean burrito with deluxe tomatillo, sub green chile rice. (get a to-go container and split that big boy in half right away!) Yummy! Unfortunately I don't care for their margaritas at all, they're to sweet or something... I like Dos Equis or the New Mexican Martini (has chile pepper in it, which cuts out the sweet). read more

Food is good, atmosphere is fun & the T-shirts are hilarious! The steak on the fajitas has a strange texture, but the chicken is good. I tried the creamy jalapeño sauce everyone talks about, but I thought it just tasted like ranch. Our server was very nice! read more

The food here is always good. The only drawer back is the wait and the noise. Crazy!!!

My wife and I were in town for our daughter's graduation and we decided to check Chuy's out. The service was very good, the drinks were great, and we enjoyed our food. I appreciate the fact that my "Fajita beef" burrito was perfectly cooked. I also love all of the sauce flavors available to enjoy. All in all, this was a very positive culinary experience. read more

I recommend the chicka chicka boom enchiladas and don't forget to ask for the creamy jalapeño dip for your chips!

Went on a Friday evening and there was a 30 minute wait. Of course that is to be expected in waco on a friday evening and everyone is out on the town trying to enjoy their night. The food is great and has enough variety for my preferences. The green sauce is the best. i really enjoy going there simply for that reason. I wish i could take that sauce with me to other mexican restaurants. :) Every time I've been its always been busy but the service has been good. The only thing that kind of bugs me is that whenever you want more chips the server comes back with the chips scoop full of chips and pours it into your basket. I would much rather they take my basket and bring me a new one. Food is always good but there isn't anything that blows my mind which is why i gave it 3 stars. Its mexican food, maybe not completely authentic, but thats not why i go there and the atmosphere is festive and its safe ( i always know i can find something good to eat there as well as my company) the price is moderate for similar restaurants. I like to think of chuy's as a place to bring visitors and out of town folks where you know for the most part everyone is going to find something they could eat. read more

My girlfriend and I drove down from Dallas to take in the sites and get away from the big city for a few days and stayed at a nice hotel within walking distance of the restaurant. I phoned our order in and gave the order taker my first and last name and SPELLED my last name to her. Upon reaching the restaurant, the waiting area was a mass of confusion due to the childish 16 year old ladies trying to seat people. I told one girl that I had placed a carry out order and gave her my last name. She returned only to tell me that they had no order under under that name. I stood there puzzled and out of desperation I gave her my first name which as it turned out was the name that the order taker used even though I spelled my last name to her. Unfortunately the food was not that good. The tortilla chips that they used for the nachos were much too thick and my taco salad was made of shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and ground beef. Each ingredient had been scooped out of a container and plopped into the take out box; not much presentation there. Taco Bell does it better. read more

It is your typical Chuy's only complaint is the tables are packed in there. It makes it hard to carry my son in his car seat in. Service was fine though. read more

A family favorite for us!! When we want to eat out, this is typically our go-to. The creamy jalapeño is probably one of my favorite foods in the world! I typically get the chicken fajitas or deluxe chicken enchiladas. My husband gets a fajita chicken burrito, and my child gets the kids bean burrito. All are great, yummy choices. There are sometimes longer lines around 530-7pm that you will have to wait 20-25 min for, but the food is worth the wait! My husband recently had an issue with his burrito (he wanted something left off) and asks if it could be fixed. Not only did they fix it and comp his meal, the comped our ENTIRE meal. The manager and the rest of the staff are all fantastic. read more

I love it here! It's my favorite Tex Mex. Always good service even if they are busy. If there happens to be a mistake they always fix it and compensate you for the mistake. ALWAYS a good experience! The last couple times I visited I had a wonderful waitress with paw patrol tattoos! So polite and great at her job! read more

Missing Chuy's great Tex-Mex in the drive between Austin and Dallas? Fret no more! This place sits nearly halfway between Austin and the big D, making it a great place to stop for a meal! Just like all the other Chuy's, this place has great ambience, great food, and limitless chips and salsa. Lots of veggie options, including veggie enchiladas, bean & cheese burritos, and chile rellenos. Plenty of great drink options as well. I am a fan of Chuy's mango margarita, though I haven't ordered one at this particular Chuy's. Just a note - the access to this Chuy's is a bit tricky - you have to take the highway 6 north exit (exit 330) off I-35, then loop around the feeder road to get to Chuy's. The wait can get long at times, but it is well worth it! read more

Very busy and LOUD place!!! Food and service was good. The jalapeño ranch dip, Queso and veggie salsa were all great. I had the Tacos Al Carbon fajitas steak. Left with a full belly. No complaints!!! read more

Great Tex-Mex food and very cool atmosphere - I love the metal palm trees. When they bring the chips and salsa, ask for the creamy Jalepeno dip. The Specials are great! I love the Southwestern with the egg on top. Prices better than expected when comparing the quality of food with the atmosphere here. Will stop here every time I'm passing through for sure! read more
