Chuy's Upholstery - I WILL NEVER USE CHUY AGAIN - Furniture Reupholstery Near Me - San Rafael, California

I got my hands on a single front seat cover for a 1970 VW Bug driver's chair(they are sold in pairs but somebody else only needed one so I got the spare). I ask Chuy if he'd be willing to rebuild the chaire and put the cover on, and he said sure. Bring It down. So I dropped it off on Wednesday 3rd Feb, and and on Thursday 4th Feb got the call that he had finished! I picked it up on Friday, installed it on Saturday and it was ready for the big reveal on Sunday 7th. Unforturnately I didn't think to take a before photo. One cannot ask for speedier service than that! read more

Did a super job on our ripped car upholstery. Check out the before and after pics. Not inexpensive, but worth it if you want your car seats to look like new. read more

After going to several other upholsterers in Marin and receiving quotes that were in my opinion too high (I could have replaced the entire piece new) Chuy hooked me up! I dropped the pieces off about noon and they were ready and perfectly refinished at 5:00 pm and looked better than new. Thank you Chuy! read more

I came to Chuy's with an unusual request to re-upholster my vintage chrome dinette chairs I inherited from my grandparents. They seats were all ripped but otherwise in good condition. I contacted furniture repair shops who said they didn't work with vinyl and metal furniture, only cloth and wood. Chuy was recommended by Justin from West Coast Dents (who also did a great job on my car) and I am so pleased...he completed the chairs in two days and they look great. read more

I brought my Toyota Tacoma 2010 I just bought for my son who is 33 and I wanted everything to be perfect. The truck was already in great condition but had a little rip on the drivers side seat. I went there cuz he had a 5 star review I did not know what to expect, but I surely didn't expect him to stop what he was doing and fix my seat, but that's exactly what he did it was 3;30 and he was done by 5:00 and what a beautiful job thanks Chuy and I'll be back. I was recommended by G&F auto repair, my long time technicians for my cars for years...who could repair the zipper on my soft top Jeep Wrangler. Go to Chuy's Upholstery. I showed Chuy's , a very like-able guy, the problem. He said no problem. Setting a date to have the zipper replaced, it was done in about 3 hours. It was a lot of sewing, replacing the old broken zipper with the new one. Chuy's real skill is reupholstering auto seats. His work is exacting and no short cuts. Classic cars are a specialty. My job was a little one compared to the craftsmanship he puts into the cars I saw him working on. If you're looking for a skilled craftsman for auto interior renovation, give him a call. I recommend him. read more

Chuy and his son, Oscar did a great job replacing my Mercedes driver seat cover ! They were quick and their price was a great value. Oscar even drove me home and picked me back up when the work was done. I highly recommend them ! read more

MY 1993 MIATA has a zippered back window that must be unzipped for air and to lower the ragtop. But the ZIPPER broke. No "hack" seemed to work. I called my mechanic and asked for a recommendation. CHUY'S Upholstery was superb. I called for information and drove there for an assessment. Could he replace the zipper or would I need to replace the top??? Chuy was professional, cordially and had the part. He estimated 45 minutes (it was done in less time). There was an outdoor picnic table on the street where I could wait. Marin county was still operating in Covid Cautious mode. He wore a mask and understood why I waited outside the door of his office. The price was reasonable and the work was excellent. When it's time for a new ragtop, Chuy has my business!!! read more

This is the best place to go in Marin. Others are way overpriced, or completely inept, or both! Chuy fixed a botched job on my classic pick up truck that was performed at another shop. He did it for 2/3 of the cost others were asking and he did it perfectly the first time. Don't waste your time with characters around Marin. Go to Chuy the first time! read more

I went to Chuy's to get my 2013 Toyota Corolla seats upholstered. They came out very nice and I'm very impressed with his work! He told me he's been in the business for over 30 years. I would say because of his experience, the pricing is very reasonable with the wonderful quality they provide! Thank you Chuy! read more

My 2004 Porsche Cayenne headliner failed and Chuy's installed a perfect match!!! So pleased with the work and the price.

Needed a upholstery repair on the leather back seat of my car. Called Chuy and he gave me a fair estimate and repaired it on time. The work was excellent! read more

I called to see if they could reupholster a motorcycle seat, and it was no problem. Chuy himself answered the phone and told me to bring in the seat. Tucked in the corner of the industrial side of San Rafael, it can be a bit difficult to spot, but there is signage out front. Chuy was friendly, accommodating, and based on some of what I saw there, it would appear that vehicle upholstery is his specialty. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking to re-cover auto or motorcycle seats, etc. To re-cover my seat, he only charged me $20. Great deal, and I wouldn't hesitate to return with any further upholstery needs. read more

I have had three different car's upholstered here and they all turned out great. He is a one man shop so make sure to build in some time so he can get the job done. I first bought a kit online and had him install it.... The second time around I had him build the seats himself and they turned our much better. than the supposed best seat kits I had order. He stands by his work and does a lot of European, domestic and import cars. I had 2 VW buses done from headliner down to the seats as well as a toyota 4runner. read more

I took my 1973 VW Bug to Jose to have the headliner replaced. When I picked it up today, my jaw dropped. Not only did he remove & replace the headliner, but he replaced the carpeting in the back window; put in a new, tinted at the top windshield, crystal clear; fixed the lever on the driver's seat so it easily tilts forward now, so you can get into the backseat easily; replaced the upholstery on the door side of the driver's seat; & restored the buzzer which activates when the doors are open. It hasn't worked for over 18 years. And, he wouldn't accept anything for the extra work he did. I wish we had discovered Chuy's earlier before we had other upholstery done. read more

Chuy is the BEST!!!!! His work is perfection, at a reasonable price, and done faster than he said it would take!!!!!! I told him, what I thought I wanted; then he made a completely different suggestion. Turned out he was absolutely right. The man knows what he is doing & the best way to do it. Thank you, Chuy, we'll be back!! Your the MAN! read more

He did an interior restoration of my 1973 E Type Jag leather seats and cloth headliner and did a fantastic, high quality job.

Doing business with Jose at Chuy's was such a breath of fresh air! We are so conditioned thses days to be treated as a number, receive poor service and excuses as to why we have to accept mediocre service, as well as fend off service providers from trying to cross sell so that can get more of our hard earned money. Jose is the exact opposite of this. He is honest, fair, has integrity and will go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure you are pleased with the work that he provides. Jose sets a high watermark for all of us! read more

I've brought a few jobs in to Chuey's all the work always came out top quality. It's clear he's been doing this many years. I just brought him a bench seat to a 1960 VW, he spent a bunch of time with me selecting the correct material etc. He's a good guy who does amazing work. Also his prices are very competitive. Go there, you won't regret it! read more

Wow ... What a great place ... Showed up at 5:00pm on a Monday and asked if they could sew a seat cover for my forklift ... Met chuy the owner... Great guy ... He said I could wait for it ... I had Chuy's Auto Interior add an extension to the tonneau cover on my SUV. It was installed in 3 hours and looks better than I could have imagined. Now the entire back storage area of the vehicle is covered. It looks like it was factory installed since the material and color is a perfect match. read more

Chuy and his team reupholstered my 84 Chevy stepside. They did my bench seat and installed a carpet kit that I had previously purchased. The quality care, detail and material surpasssed the style of the original. Not only is their work excellent but the price is fair and they're very friendly. My family have also used Chuy's for several of their vehicles with above and beyond satisfactory results. Thanks to Chuy's my classic Chevy is an even more appealing and enjoyable truck to drive! read more

Reattached my leather seat back pockets. Friendly, reasonable prices, and good, quick work.

I have an older Mercedes SL500. The side of the front leather seat had worn away. Chuy did a fantastic job replacing the side panel without having to do the whole seat. Very reasonable price and excellent turn around. Exceeded expectations! read more

this is my uncles shop and he is one of a kind dose good work if ur looking for a good upholstery shop go to him

Chuy is a master craftsman and goes above and beyond to deliver. I had him redo the front and rear seats in my '87 Jag. The front driver's seat was really, really bad. The leather had dried out, was cracked and torn, and there was foam missing. In addition to doing an excellent job color matching, he took the front seats down to the springs and rebuilt them. Then he did all the seat piping in leather; the original seats had vinyl piping. Then he redid the center console (which also was badly cracked), not in vinyl like it came from the factory, but in leather to match the seats. He's the type of guy who takes great pride in his work, and it sure does show! As he told me, he tries to do his very best on each job and that is reflected in the excellent results. This is the benefit of a one-man shop where he can control quality from start to finish. I'm going to use him again to reupholster some furniture. In the meantime I have that wonderful new-car smell to enjoy! read more
