They were aware well in advance of the scheduled serving time, but they arrived late and were not ready to serve when needed. This caused a significant delay in our itinerary and affected the flow of an event that had been carefully planned for months. What was especially frustrating was that at the end of the evening, her husband complained that this was not the type of service they normally provide for a quinceañera. Since they knew from the beginning that they were being hired specifically for a quinceañera, I felt those concerns should have been addressed beforehand rather than after the event. On a positive note, we did not receive any complaints about the food, and there was plenty for our guests. I did pay the full amount we agreed upon despite the issues. However, I was disappointed with how everything was handled. During an event as important as a quinceañera, the family is surrounded by guests and focused on making the day special, so there really isn't an appropriate opportunity to stop everything and address problems with a vendor as they are happening. For that reason, I believe vendors hired for special events have an added responsibility to arrive on time, be prepared, and honor what was agreed upon. Families put a great deal of time, money, and trust into these celebrations, and that should be respected. Unfortunately, based on my experience with the late arrival, the delay it caused, and how the situation was handled afterward, I would most likely not hire them again or recommend them for an event where timing and staying on schedule are important.
