Stopped in for lunch snd sat on the patio. Server came right away with chips and the salsa and jalapeño ranch dip. The chips were good. The salsa was chunky, spicy and delicious. The jalapeño ranch was so good! Our order came out quickly snd the portions were very large. I highly recommend the tortilla soup. We all loved what we ordered. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The bathroom was very clean with touch less sinks, water and hand dryer. The walks in the bar, near the restroom were covered in photographs of dogs snd the patio was dog friendly. I so wish I had a Chuy's near my home. Love this place! read more

Great spot for Tex Mex! And service from Cory was top notch! Ask for him if you go!

Second trip to Chuys during Covid, tables distanced and servers masked up. I got Fajitas and margaritas, was happy with both. The inside is full of framed photos of dogs. I asked my server what that was about and he informed me if you bring a framed photo of your pup you get a free app. The walls are covered already, and it was obvious Land o' Lakes loves Dogs. The rice and beans were average, the free chips were good as the dips were tasty. Margaritas were standard with many variations as is the usual these days. They were refreshing and cheap if you dine in. Is it the best tex mex in town, no; but it'll do. If you're so inclined swing on by and get some Decent Tex Mex. read more

This was a nice restaurant. Went on Friday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday, arrived around 730 so there was a wait of about 45 minutes which is to be expected. We sat outside. There was plenty seating. Our waiter was very attentive. It was 6 of us and he remembered our orders by memory. I think his name was Keith. I ordered the chicken flautas which were good. Everything arrived fresh and accurate. The steak burrito was ordered by two people in our party and I would definitely recommend it. Huge portion sizes. read more

I came here with two of my family friends after work, I have heard nothing but great things about this place from a few people. I got the Baja Shrimp tacos (grilled) and they were amazing. We ordered a Boom Boom sauce for the table, I found it to be good, however it was over hyped in my opinion. I do wish the chips were thicker as that is what I am used to at many other mexican restaurants. All in all, I would come here again. read more

For one...it's wayyyyyy too cold and we waited an 1 and a half to be seated as we watched other ppl come in and come out. When we were seated, they had no silverware at the table and as we ordered our drinks...when they came they already had the straws in them and that's is very unsanitary. It took about 45 min before our food even came out. My friend almost threw up bc her beef was not cooked all the way and didn't taste right, another person that was sitting at my table and her steak wasn't even cooked how she wanted it...usually at a restaurant, they ask you how you want your steak cooked and they didn't even ask how she wanted it. When we got up to leave nobody really ate their food at all cause of how bad it was. I will NEVER EVER AGAIN EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT. It is absolutely disgusting!!!!! read more

Chuy's - Her steak wasn't cooked how she wanted it at all!!! - Tex-Mex Near Me - Lutz, Florida

Tex-Mex is the best of Mexican. Chuy's is not Tex-Mex. Having past Chuy's many times we finally stopped in for lunch. I lived most of my life in California, a Mexican restaurant on every block so I like to think I know good Mexican. Chuy's is good Mexican for Florida, in California or Texas it would probably be closed. Now, with all that negativity out of the way....the positives. Chips and salsa almost before you sit down. The red salsa is first rate and the spicy ranch is interesting. I ordered Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Chicken enchiladas. I was disappointed, nothing but chunks of chicken wrapped in the tortilla, no cheese, no sauce....just dry chicken. It came with rice and beans which were ok. I'm giving Chuy's two stars just for our waitress Angelina who was awesome. The food needs work for the price. Hard to believe this is an Austin based restaurant. read more

My visit to Chuy's started off strong due to the restaurant's fun atmosphere and cute decor. The service was quick and very friendly. The unlimited chips, salsa, and queso was such a nice feature, but the salsa tasted fairly bitter (I would recommend using a sweeter tomato) and the queso blanco, made from some sort of hard cheese, was not quite my thing. I ordered the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom enchiladas as an entree and my boyfriend ordered crunchy beef tacos. The enchiladas' tortillas were amazing, as they were hand-made in the restaurant. The salsa verde on top was very tasty, but the chicken on the inside was rather bland and lacked in spice. The tacos proves similar with beef that lacked in seasoning. The refried beans however were very good and tasted homemade. Chuy's has the potential to be a quality restaurant, but has room for improvement when it comes to it's tastes and seasonings. read more

I enjoyed my Chuy's experience. It's Tex-Mex and family friendly. It's also right across the street from the Tampa Bay premium outlets which does not contain good food, So thankfully there are restaurants right outside of the outlets like Chuy's. I always enjoy unlimited chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants. My kids and I ate here and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the Shrimp & Cheese Chile Relleno & ground beef enchilada platter. I can't say that what I ate was the most memorable thing in the world but I do remember enjoying my meal and knowing that I would definitely come back after shopping at the outlets again. The decor is out of the 80s so I was pretty nostalgic. Tex-Mex restaurants were big when I was a little girl. Is this authentic Mexican? Not really...it's authentic Tex-Mex though. If you've ever lived in the Midwest or even on the West Coast you should be familiar with this type of casual fare. read more

My daughter and I totally enjoyed our first experience at Chuy's Restaurant. We were greeted at our table by our waiter Ian. He did a great job making us feel welcomed. Then it got better when the general manager Lori came to our table and introduced herself to us and also brought 11 different dipping sauces for us to sample. She explained them all to us and she made us feel very good. The food had great flavor and because of Lori we will be back. She's an amazing person. Thank you Lori for making my daughter's and my dinner so awesome. read more

Amazing food! Had the fajitas and they were well prepared and enough for left overs. Their secret salsa was amazing too.

Friends of ours invited us to go to Chuy's, none of us have ever been, however, a coworker of my friends, Refferred this restaurant. it took us almost a half an hour to get there, but upon arrival, we could tell that they must serve good food since it was waiting list only.. we waited about 20 minutes and at a nice table. our waitress Ang I think is her name was absolutely on top of it with service and personality. The food finally came after many many baskets of chips and salsa and our plates were very large and very tasty. Could not say more positive things about this restaurant. Great experience for Mexican food. Thank you for making our first experience a great one! Robert S read more

Don't waste your time or money. I walked in and watched the host seat a couple and proceed to chit chat with a coworker. I waited 7 minutes until another young lady acknowledged me and offered to seat me. I asked not to be seated beside the patio door, and she seemed offended, seating me in the back in a torn up booth. Zander couldn't be bothered to introduce himself, welcome me or even consider asking me if it were my first time joining them. Asked him for a drink menu, and he took one off a neighboring table with a party of 8 as if COVID does not exist and plopped it right on my table. Not even caring to wipe it off. I blindly ordered, feeling rushed and unwanted. I had to ask for water, he didn't even care to ask me if I wanted another margarita or if my food was okay. Just threw a "thumbs up" in my direction while going to check on other tables. I still left 20% for a tip, just because I didn't want to feed into the stereotype of my demographic "not tipping". He did not deserve it. I will never return to this restaurant, no matter which state I'm in. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE! read more

After contact from the manager, she offered a refund, which I refused. She also advised me that they were never bring back chile rellenos. That means we are done. Good food with quite bad service Stopped by Chuy's in Lutz on Sun evening in April '22. It was busy and after 30 min wait we were sited in a dining room on the right side of the restaurant with very few people. The food was tasty and portions were big. Their homemade salsa was very fresh and delightfully hot. Guacamole was fresh, but lacked any spiciness at all. Fajitas were good, but not remarkable. The service however was disappointing. By the time the drinks came we almost finished the nachos and salsa. The waiter was Juan O. His attitude was like "I told ya food was coming, leave me alone" :( Wasn't nice :( Also, when asked to recommend some Chuy's signature sauce on the side the one he brought was just uneatable :( So, the feelings from this place are mixed. read more

Having dinner with some friends while visiting the Tampa area. Probably should have known it was going to be an issues when we were immediately told by the hostess that they may not be able to seat us because their kitchen was closing at 7:30 for their Christmas party. It was 6:20. We decided to stay and roll the dice. I ended up telling the hostess we would be ok sitting 3 and 4 since we had teenagers and adults. This was after 20 minutes of waiting. They then sat us all at one big booth that had been available the entire time. There was plenty of room, but not really a need to wait I guess. Anyway. We got to our seat. Our waitress Emily was good. We ordered drinks and queso. After about 20 minutes, our waitress apologized it was taking so long and went to go find our queso. As she was going back, another lady brought over our queso. Our waitress then came back out with a second queso. They of course just let us have it so no harm no foul, but a long wait. From the time the queso came to the time the food came was about 45 minutes to an hour! Keep in mind, this was for 6 entrees. Nothing crazy. Unfortunately every dish was cold. At this point, we were all kind of over it. We asked for boxes so we could just go home. The manager came over and asked if she could remake it, but no thanks. We were already told multiple times about the holiday party and didn't want to wait another hour to get our food. Plus we still had not gotten our utensils to eat with. Full disclosure we did get 50% off our meal. The manager didn't say anything about it. We just happened to see it when we paid. The manager nor our waitress said anything. As for the food, the queso was ok. Nothing great. Salsa was ok. Strawberry mojito was good. Would recommend that. read more

Great food, good company, and excellent service. Chuy's has several of your typical Tex-Mex options, but the flavor tastes much more authentic. The flautas are amazing, the chicken tastes so fresh. The free chips & salsa are so fresh, try not to fill up on them! You can request hotter salsa as well, but the standard stuff is pretty flavorful & has a nice kick since it's so fresh! I opted for a fajita chicken burrito. I wish there was more chicken, but overall it was fantastic! Cody, our server was so friendly & attentive too! We stopped here after having driven home from Orlando. We were hungry. The place looked good. Once we were seated, it took a little while for the waitress to come and get our drink orders and even when we placed them, then edited them to add another drink, she didn't get it correct, and it took three times as long to get that 2nd drink. When she was asked about it, she actually snapped at me "It's coming." in a sharp tone. The food was good, really tasty. We ordered fajitas for two, adding in the shrimp. They were well proportioned on the meat but skimpy on the veggies, which was kinda sad as those are usually the cheapest ingredient. Ah well. The best thing on the meal was the Cilantro Ranch creama you get with your tortillas! That stuff was delicious. Will I return? Probably not. I mean the food was good, but the service was either really harried or sniping at each other in front of the patrons. My boyfriend caught the brunt of two wait persons grousing at each other at the bar while he waited for me to come out of the rest rooms. That's just not something you do in front of paying customers. read more

Went for a birthday dinner for a friend and it was my first time here... Why we decided to go an Outlet Mall restaurant on a Saturday of a tax free weekend, I will never know! The wait to get in was about 40 minutes, so we were prepared for a busy night. When we got in, we decided to get drinks and apps to avoid getting "hangry." To be honest, I could have been happy with just the queso, guac and margarita... but we decided to double down on food. Enchiladas, soft tacos, fajitas... not a bad dish at the table. Too bad that after the meal, there was no room for Tres Leches! But it was okay, as a party of 25 took a table next to us...so it was time to go. We will be back, just maybe not on a tax free weekend at the mall! read more

I like Chuy's! I like the fun atmosphere, the food and the servers. The staff does a great job serving quickly (once you are seated) and they truly seem to care. The chips are placed on your table as soon as you are seated. We loved the salsa and the creamy jalapeno ranch dip. For meals, we've had quesadillas, fajitas, enchiladas, salads, and more. My personal favorite is the Deluxe Chicken Enchilada meal... roasted, hand pulled chicken breast and cheese. I opt for the sauce on the side and choose a few from the choices on the menu. read more

After seeing Shazam today, I felt like eating some Mexican food. I have heard this place and Miguel's in South Tampa are the best. Interesting... When you go in, you'll notice that there are legions of people waiting outside. Thankfully, I only had to wait 10 minutes. The interior is filled with faux palm trees, and orange/cream tiled floor. The restaurant isn't small but with so many customers entering and leaving and servers dashing between , you have to tread carefully. I was given chips, salsa, and I asked for creamy jalapeno sauce. The chips were crisp and tasty. The salsa was thin but had fresh vegetables and was slightly spicy which was nice. The jalapeno sauce was awesome. It tastes similar to Pollo Tropical Cilantro sauce-spicy but not overpowering. Put in your entree too! - Chips/salsa/jalapeno sauce 5/5 My main entree was the beef fajitas for one ($17) and a soda ($3). The beef and bell peppers come sizzling in a cast iron skillet with a small pan for refried beans and rice, a flat brown circular container for the tortillas , and a dish with lettuce, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole. Everything was fresh. While the beef was seasoned nicely and the pico/cheese were very good and the tortillas were soft , the refried beans and rice were plain and had little zing. They were the weakest part of the meal. It is strange that such a staple of Mexican food is done so poorly in Tampa restaurants. Other than Caribbean Crown, no place in Tampa does it well. I also wish they would give you 4-5 tortillas total. Fajitas - 4/5 Beans/Rice 3/5 The service was decent. My server was quick and kind, however the one time I wanted drink refills I didnt get any. It's not really the servers fault , more like there so many customers and few servers that the time per customer can be different depending on work load. You do get a lot of food for the money. Overall: Id say this place gets 4/5 They need to improve on beans/rice. read more

I do not recommended this restaurant. This place is extremely dusty and dirty. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months. This is unacceptable any time, but especially during a pandemic when stricter cleaning protocols should be in place. We were so disappointed and will never be back. We could not identify a manager while there and politely pointed it out to who we presumed was a hostess and she didn't seem bothered at all and didn't react as if it was a priority to change. There was also dust on the walls further away from the booths, but I did not take photos of it. We've been to the Orlando location and absolutely love this restaurant. This location is not run to the same standards of the Orlando location. Edited to add: I originally sent an email to corporate support. They have my contact information if they want to reach out. They have yet to do so. read more

First of all...if you can find another place to eat today please do...I get that they're short staffed but who's doing the quality control from the kitchen? The "A" cook is definitely not on. I hate it when they say "Careful the plate is hot" when clearly the bottoms of your feet have more heat. Then there is a knife shortage? So you only get a fork unless you request a plastic one-neither are needed.Grease is the word today for flavor. I hope The manager on duty is at least helping bus tables because clearly they don't care to come around to ask how's things? Usually in the bar area on a Sunday it can be pretty decent . You think one would learn if you walk in and they tell you there's a 20-25 wait and every table you see needs to be cleaned you should run--I chose poorly today, save yourself. Glad I didn't order any alcohol. read more

I heard a ton of great things about this Tex-mex restaurant before visiting. We visited on a Friday night, their was a ton of people waiting, thankfully the wait for us wasn't that long. Immediately i notices all the photos of customers dogs/puppies on the restaurant wall. It melted my heart knowing that they were not only a pet friendly (patio) restaurant but they actually rewarded customers who brought in a framed photo of their furry best friends. We enjoyed happy hour special drinks, i had the steak burrito which was extremely flavorful. Chiys special boom boom sauce added the Chery on top LITERALLY. I enjoyed lunch with a BFF here recently, for the atmosphere, service, and food. We both ordered the fajitas for one, mine the beef and chicken combo. It was a huge serving, still sizzling when presented, and the moist tortillas in its own container instead of being wrapped in aluminum foil. The meat was tender and the accompaniments were plentiful, in addition to a plate of refried beans and rice. I literally took home more than I could eat. The complementary chips were super thin and crispy, and the salsa was more like Pico de gallo. I would go back. read more

Been going to Chuys since 1996 from where they originated in Austin & Round Rock, Texas. Moved back to Wesley Chapel, Tampa Florida back in 2017. Went there today with my mom and dad and had some dinner passes from one of their managers Alexandra, from before when I ordered through Uber Eats and they forgot the Chips with my 120 oz. of Creamy Jalapeno Ranch, Salsa Fresca and Hot Queso or Boom Boom + (5) Appetizer Combos. Anyway, she made good on her promise and our waitress Jazmine C was awesome, so attentive, nice and accommodating, plus yeah she was pretty to boot. Took some pictures of this awesome food extravaganza and this here Tex-Mex is still the Bomb ! Yummers for the Tummers :-). It's more of a 3.5 review. Food was hot and fresh. Scott, our server, was attentive. When we were boxing up our food, because we were full, I asked Scott for some tortillas to go and he informed me we would have to pay for them. If I had a larger stomach and could've finished the meal there, I would've needed more tortillas. He would've brought them and not charged me. This makes no sense to me. We paid $30+ for fajitas for 2 and he's going to charge me for a few more tortillas? I worked Mexican food for 8.5 years and we never charged people for tortillas to go. read more
