The jalapeño ranch was so good! Our order came out quickly snd the portions were very large. I highly recommend the tortilla soup. We all loved what we ordered. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The bathroom was very clean with touch less sinks, water and hand dryer. My daughter and I totally enjoyed our first experience at Chuy's Restaurant. We were greeted at our table by our waiter Ian. He did a great job making us feel welcomed. Then it got better when the general manager Lori came to our table and introduced herself to us and also brought 11 different dipping sauces for us to sample. Friends of ours invited us to go to Chuy's, none of us have ever been, however, a coworker of my friends, Refferred this restaurant. it took us almost a half an hour to get there, but upon arrival, we could tell that they must serve good food since it was waiting list only.. we waited about 20 minutes and at a nice table. our waitress Ang I think is her name was absolutely on top of it with service and personality. I came here with two of my family friends after work, I have heard nothing but great things about this place from a few people. I got the Baja Shrimp tacos (grilled) and they were amazing. When we were seated, they had no silverware at the table and as we ordered our drinks...when they came they already had the straws in them and that's is very unsanitary. It took about 45 min before our food even came out. My visit to Chuy's started off strong due to the restaurant's fun atmosphere and cute decor. The service was quick and very friendly. The unlimited chips, salsa, and queso was such a nice feature, but the salsa tasted fairly bitter (I would recommend using a sweeter tomato) and the queso blanco, made from some sort of hard cheese, was not quite my thing. I ordered the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom enchiladas as an entree and my boyfriend ordered crunchy beef tacos. The enchiladas' tortillas were amazing, as they were hand-made in the restaurant. The salsa verde on top was very tasty, but the chicken on the inside was rather bland and lacked in spice. The tacos proves similar with beef that lacked in seasoning. The refried beans however were very good and tasted homemade. Chuy's has the potential to be a quality restaurant, but has room for improvement when it comes to it's tastes and seasonings. read more

I enjoyed my Chuy's experience. It's Tex-Mex and family friendly. It's also right across the street from the Tampa Bay premium outlets which does not contain good food, So thankfully there are restaurants right outside of the outlets like Chuy's. I always enjoy unlimited chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants. My kids and I ate here and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the Shrimp & Cheese Chile Relleno & ground beef enchilada platter. I can't say that what I ate was the most memorable thing in the world but I do remember enjoying my meal and knowing that I would definitely come back after shopping at the outlets again. The decor is out of the 80s so I was pretty nostalgic. Tex-Mex restaurants were big when I was a little girl. Is this authentic Mexican? Not really...it's authentic Tex-Mex though. Don't waste your time or money. I walked in and watched the host seat a couple and proceed to chit chat with a coworker. I waited 7 minutes until another young lady acknowledged me and offered to seat me. I asked not to be seated beside the patio door, and she seemed offended, seating me in the back in a torn up booth. Zander couldn't be bothered to introduce himself, welcome me or even consider asking me if it were my first time joining them. Asked him for a drink menu, and he took one off a neighboring table with a party of 8 as if COVID does not exist and plopped it right on my table. Not even caring to wipe it off. I blindly ordered, feeling rushed and unwanted. I had to ask for water, he didn't even care to ask me if I wanted another margarita or if my food was okay. Just threw a "thumbs up" in my direction while going to check on other tables. I still left 20% for a tip, just because I didn't want to feed into the stereotype of my demographic "not tipping". Good food with quite bad service Stopped by Chuy's in Lutz on Sun evening in April '22. It was busy and after 30 min wait we were sited in a dining room on the right side of the restaurant with very few people. The food was tasty and portions were big. Their homemade salsa was very fresh and delightfully hot. Guacamole was fresh, but lacked any spiciness at all. Fajitas were good, but not remarkable. The service however was disappointing. By the time the drinks came we almost finished the nachos and salsa. The waiter was Juan O. His attitude was like "I told ya food was coming, leave me alone" :( Wasn't nice :( Also, when asked to recommend some Chuy's signature sauce on the side the one he brought was just uneatable :( So, the feelings from this place are mixed. read more

Having dinner with some friends while visiting the Tampa area. Probably should have known it was going to be an issues when we were immediately told by the hostess that they may not be able to seat us because their kitchen was closing at 7:30 for their Christmas party. Our waitress Emily was good. We ordered drinks and queso. After about 20 minutes, our waitress apologized it was taking so long and went to go find our queso. As she was going back, another lady brought over our queso. Our waitress then came back out with a second queso. They of course just let us have it so no harm no foul, but a long wait. From the time the queso came to the time the food came was about 45 minutes to an hour! Keep in mind, this was for 6 entrees. Nothing crazy. Unfortunately every dish was cold. At this point, we were all kind of over it. We asked for boxes so we could just go home. The manager came over and asked if she could remake it, but no thanks. We were already told multiple times about the holiday party and didn't want to wait another hour to get our food. Plus we still had not gotten our utensils to eat with. Full disclosure we did get 50% off our meal. The manager didn't say anything about it. We just happened to see it when we paid. The manager nor our waitress said anything. The free chips & salsa are so fresh, try not to fill up on them! You can request hotter salsa as well, but the standard stuff is pretty flavorful & has a nice kick since it's so fresh! When she was asked about it, she actually snapped at me "It's coming." in a sharp tone. The food was good, really tasty. We ordered fajitas for two, adding in the shrimp. They were well proportioned on the meat but skimpy on the veggies, which was kinda sad as those are usually the cheapest ingredient. Ah well. The best thing on the meal was the Cilantro Ranch creama you get with your tortillas! That stuff was delicious. Will I return? Probably not. I mean the food was good, but the service was either really harried or sniping at each other in front of the patrons. Went for a birthday dinner for a friend and it was my first time here... Why we decided to go an Outlet Mall restaurant on a Saturday of a tax free weekend, I will never know! After seeing Shazam today, I felt like eating some Mexican food. I have heard this place and Miguel's in South Tampa are the best. Interesting... When you go in, you'll notice that there are legions of people waiting outside. Thankfully, I only had to wait 10 minutes. The interior is filled with faux palm trees, and orange/cream tiled floor. The restaurant isn't small but with so many customers entering and leaving and servers dashing between , you have to tread carefully. I was given chips, salsa, and I asked for creamy jalapeno sauce. The chips were crisp and tasty. The salsa was thin but had fresh vegetables and was slightly spicy which was nice. The jalapeno sauce was awesome. It tastes similar to Pollo Tropical Cilantro sauce-spicy but not overpowering. Put in your entree too! - Chips/salsa/jalapeno sauce 5/5 My main entree was the beef fajitas for one ($17) and a soda ($3). The beef and bell peppers come sizzling in a cast iron skillet with a small pan for refried beans and rice, a flat brown circular container for the tortillas , and a dish with lettuce, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole. Everything was fresh. While the beef was seasoned nicely and the pico/cheese were very good and the tortillas were soft , the refried beans and rice were plain and had little zing. They were the weakest part of the meal. It is strange that such a staple of Mexican food is done so poorly in Tampa restaurants. Other than Caribbean Crown, no place in Tampa does it well. I also wish they would give you 4-5 tortillas total. Fajitas - 4/5 Beans/Rice 3/5 The service was decent. My server was quick and kind, however the one time I wanted drink refills I didnt get any. It's not really the servers fault , more like there so many customers and few servers that the time per customer can be different depending on work load. You do get a lot of food for the money. I do not recommended this restaurant. This place is extremely dusty and dirty. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months. This is unacceptable any time, but especially during a pandemic when stricter cleaning protocols should be in place. We were so disappointed and will never be back. We could not identify a manager while there and politely pointed it out to who we presumed was a hostess and she didn't seem bothered at all and didn't react as if it was a priority to change. There was also dust on the walls further away from the booths, but I did not take photos of it. We've been to the Orlando location and absolutely love this restaurant. I heard a ton of great things about this Tex-mex restaurant before visiting. We visited on a Friday night, their was a ton of people waiting, thankfully the wait for us wasn't that long. Immediately i notices all the photos of customers dogs/puppies on the restaurant wall. It melted my heart knowing that they were not only a pet friendly (patio) restaurant but they actually rewarded customers who brought in a framed photo of their furry best friends. Went there today with my mom and dad and had some dinner passes from one of their managers Alexandra, from before when I ordered through Uber Eats and they forgot the Chips with my 120 oz. of Creamy Jalapeno Ranch, Salsa Fresca and Hot Queso or Boom Boom + (5) Appetizer Combos. Raaanch sauce! While I can't stop indulging in the creamy awesomeness with the chips, my family had to try the queso. It was just as great and not spicy, so it was perfect four our 9 and 12 year old. I went to Chuy's last night for a friends dinner and was SO disappointed with the food! I know not to expect much as a tex-mex restaurant but I've had better. My friend order the queso and tasted like gravy. I enjoyed lunch with a BFF here recently, for the atmosphere, service, and food. We both ordered the fajitas for one, mine the beef and chicken combo. It was a huge serving, still sizzling when presented, and the moist tortillas in its own container instead of being wrapped in aluminum foil. The meat was tender and the accompaniments were plentiful, in addition to a plate of refried beans and rice. I literally took home more than I could eat. Three visits since opening and they are still crazy busy on the weekend. Yesterday's Saturday night around 6:30 was an hour wait. But once inside they immediately get you light tortilla chips with two different sauces. Service has always been good. One of our favorites is a husband/wife team that are SOOO good and super friendly. The food is awesome!
