Right when we walked into Chuy's, we loved the atmosphere. It was so colorful and fun! The food was phenomenal. It was just me and my two kids, and we all truly enjoyed our meals. I got the chuychanga, my son had the crispy tacos, and my picky 5-year-old ordered the mac and cheese, which passed her very strict, no-nonsense mac and cheese standards. Everything was full of flavor and nicely presented. And the boom-boom sauce is SO delicious. Our server, Andra (I hope I remembered that correctly!), was hands-down one of the best servers we've ever had. She was kind, attentive, and had great suggestions, and she was always nearby if we needed anything. There was also a small moment that really stood out when we were being seated, the host initially placed us in one section but realized it was short-staffed and moved us to another. He apologized so much, even though it truly wasn't a big deal at all. Then, another server from that first section actually came to find us just to apologize for the mix-up as well. Chuys used to be our go to for a fun evening but after tonight we won't be going back soon. When we entered the restaurant we asked not to be seated in the bar area and the hostess was incredibly rude and asked why not. When I explained my reason she rolled her eyes. Since this is the Bible Belt and many people are recovering alcoholics I don't think her response was appropriate. Our server was incredibly unhelpful and it took him forever to take our order. my niece spilled her drink and he didn't even offer to help. He did bring one napkin but there was ice everywhere. To be fair, he did get our orders correct and brought us drink refills but he was not super friendly. I know Chuys got bought out by Darden and it was very clear that something had majofly changed. they used to have fantastic servers, very friendly hostesses, the food was always hot and fresh. I've never been to Chuy's before, it was near my hotel....and the Outback that I originally was going to eat at had the AC set to very cold....and I knew I wouldn't be comfortable eating at the bar, with air vents blowing on every seat. Chuy's did not have that, so here I am. It was a weekday night, not crowded. Bartender was nice and on top of her game. You get a complimentary basket of corn chips, salsa and dip. All were really good. Bartender said the chips are made in house. They were thin and fresh. I had a burrito....it was basic, but nothing spectacular. Yes, I can recommend Chuy's. Their tres leches is amazing. But, the service and management I've encountered the past 2x are rude. Called to request strawberries on the side for an Uber eats order was told I would be connected to the person that handled the Uber eats. Management picks up phone. I explain the situation. He sounded annoyed. Didn't even do what I requested when he said he would handle it. Reason why I requested strawberries on the side was because my friend is allergic. & I was going to eat the strawberries it came with. Previous time, I placed an order for a whole tres leches cake 2 days in advance for a Sunday order. Was told it would be ready by 11. I get there at 11:30. Cake is still not ready. Had to be at work by 12. I was told to come inside, because it wasn't ready yet. Told them I was waiting in the pick up area because I requested the cake to go so I wouldn't have to go in, just wanted to pick up and leave. Finally, got my cake at 11:50. Don't recommend the whole cake. The single slices look 1000x better than the whole cake. I really really wanted to give this restaurant more stars. We have passed by it so many times at Opry Mills but it was always so crowded. So we went to Bowling Green and saw one there so we tried it out. I don't know if it is because it is the middle of nowhere, but it didn't add up to the hype of the other locations. I ordered the Baja Fish Tacos. I read on the menu that you can pick between Cilantro Lime Rice or another rice, as well as refried beans or another bean. She didn't ask what I wanted so after we both ordered, I said can I please get the Cilantro rice and the refried beans. My husband ordered the Combo that was a taco, enchilada, and tostada. He didn't get asked about the rice or beans either so we said well let's just see what you end up getting. We typically try alternating stuff anyways so we have both options to try. However, the food came out and I was sorely disappointed. My fish tacos were supposed to have a jalapeno cream sauce on them with cabbage. It came out with the tiniest line of sauce. And the fish. Oh the fish. It was so overcooked that it was insanely crunchy and burnt tasting. With just a small bit of coleslaw. The cilantro rice tasted good and the beans weren't bad but not enough of them. I had to ask for more jalapeno sauce. She brought me out some and it turns out it's basically ranch with some chili powder maybe? No heat at all. My husbands food was meh. There was nothing special about it. He for regular rice which was pretty bland. The sauce was just nothing tasty. His taco was all shell and so little filling. We were surprised at the taste. For the price, it was taco bell quality. The one positive was the chips and salsa. The salsa was a pico style salsa with nice chunks of everything and lime with a bit of heat. And they came around with a scoop to refill your chips. Our server wasn't quite on top of it either. She came to refill our drinks but than we had to hold our drinks in the air at her level (she was tall) while she poured. It was just water but I can imagine if she spilled. She also came back a second time and took our cups with her but we had to hold our straws. Which is also fine but odd when you are in the middle of eating. We love this locations. In our travels we try to time it so we can stop. They servers are always nice and the food is always great. The tortillas are the best!!! Can't go wrong with tacos and margaritas. Yum! I even order tortillas to go. Also, I try to skip dairy due to migraine issues and they let me order off menu mixing sides and stuff to make a meal. They are always understanding. This is an added bonus. If you go between 4-6 m-f, deals on some things like queso and drink specials. Plus it's less crowded and more quiet. Win-win. read more

The atmosphere is bright and fun. The service has been excellent every time I go, which is usually a week night. If you miss Texas like I do this is your destination! We were seated in the bar area and the server was very good! The food ,however, was a huge disappointment. The fajita vegetables were nearly raw and the beef was stringy and chewy. The chili rellenos were also crunchy, not in a good way. Even if we had been excited to eat something it was nearly impossible due to the swarming flies. When traveling I'm a big fan of local food, it's one of the best parts of the experience. However, when traveling to towns with only 'chain' restaurant options Chuy's is a dependable fallback that somehow doesn't feel as corporate as the other 'y's' (Arby's, Wendy's, Applebee's etc). The Bowling Green is one of the better TexMex providers, with a consistently good jalapeño queso dip. The steak burrito has the thickened pastry consistency of a heavy empanada, and steak that's well done and seasoned properly. Service is good and efficient. read more

We tried chuys again. Takeout this time and the first time we tried their takeout. We got a fajitas family meal and I was really sad to find out when we got home our tortillas were cold and so was our meat. We waited in the car for 15 minutes for our food to come out and we only live five minutes away. When we got home we found our margaritas were missing. And with screaming kids to feed dinner we could t go back right away which is the only option they offered us. My bad day was not made any better by the lack of yummy food I was looking forward to. read more

Beau and I came here, in the spring, during Bowling Green's Spring Fever, when it: Becomes Alive, Blaring With Cars. We came to meet fellow car friends, and found the look of the place, very colorful, kitschy and vibrant, which lent to our festive mood. The traditional wall tiles, are offset by the shiny range of hundreds of reflective rims, arranged upon the ceiling. Being car enthusiasts, we were impressed by this automotive artistry. Much had been invested, in eye popping design! The menu, too, had some catchy creative names, but despite this, our meals seemed insipid in taste. Nothing here sizzled... Everyone's taste buds, at the table, seemed to share this story, sad to say. The waitress too, seemed sorry, as she told me, they were missing their special sauce, and corn flour tortillas, for the meal I'd ordered... In almost every town that I go to, I love making a stop at Chuy's. It's the most dependable and delicious Tex mex you can find. I love getting their burritos, and they're big enough for two people to share easily! All of their sauces are amazing and they'll let you sample any before ordering it on food. Service varies. I am a big fan of Chuy's in Northern VA, where I live. We stopped at this place expecting the same combination of tasty food and a pleasant atmosphere. Were we ever wrong. It started off with the greeter struggling to seat us at a table that wasn't covered in discarded food and spilled drinks. That was followed with a server who had difficulty in taking our drink orders and I'm still trying to figure out what is so hard about six people each asking for a margarita on the rocks with salt. The evening was capped of with some of the grossest tasting fajitas I've ever had and I remember as far back as Chi-Chi's. Nobody finished their meal and it wasn't because of the quantity. We hit this packed location late at night and placed a fairly large curbside pickup order. If you can imagine trying to get tex-mex takeout from a place like Chuy's who has sauces galore, it's kinda scary to think about. I was afraid of the mess I'd find in the bags. Solid Mexican food in bowling green. This was my first time to a chuey restaurant. The first thing you will notice is the bold colors on the outside of the restaurant. Very vibrant. Now the fish wasn't my fav. I only ate half of it. It was cooked perfectly. I just don't like fish that tastes real fishy and this fish tasted fishy. Have you ever had the best chips and dip ever if not go to Chuy's. My favorite Mexican restaurant of all time. You would love Chuy's because they have thin and crispy chips and jalapeno dip. For example I always eat 2 backsets of chips and a bowl of jalapeno dip. They also have very kind waiters that you want to talk to. For example we were having a full on conversation with them. This is a newly opened restaurant. It has some really funky decor and a fun (loud) atmosphere. You can see them make the tortillas which is neat. The food was good. I had the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. It was very tasty. My friend had the chimichanga which she says is best she's had in Bowling Green. Compared to some of our other Mexican restaurants it was a bit higher in price, but the portions were large and I had 2 meals from my lunch. I have to mention the chips and salsa. They were great! The chips are thin and crispy and they do a great job of keeping your basket filled. So.. overall good time and meal. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing meal probably not the place, but looking for a fun place with good food - give it a try. Reviews were good, location looked hopeful, service was friendly, music was good and atmosphere was fun. So what happened? Mediocre food happened. Don't bother with the queso. Chips are too salty. $10 margarita was mediocre as well. My baja shrimp came wrapped in aluminum foil, have no idea why. Sides were forgettable. For the coin dropped, not feeling the value. Last but not least, they give you a buy 10 get 1 free meal card or something and the server noted two meals instead of three. Not that I intended to use the card but it is the principle. Tip - be advised, they charge just over a dollar for every conceivable side - sour cream, guac, etc, so your 8.95 burrito could add up. Chick-a chick-a boom boom delivered again. The food was good but the service wasn't. It was a very empty night due to weather and I sat at the bar. It was about 5 minutes before I was acknowledged, and there was only one other table in the bar area. I arrived about ten minutes before their happy hour ended so I ordered a discounted margarita. I had to ask twice to get chips and salsa but they were good when I got them. The jalapeño ranch dip is definitely the way to go, the other salsa isn't very good. Got my food in a timely manner, had a beer, and got the check. The server had charged me the normal amount for my margarita, and when I questioned it she didn't seem sure id been there before happy hour ended. The only problem was the only reason I knew about the special was because we had talked about it. Again, I was the only customer at the bar the entire time I was there. They fixed it but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I'm still really confused by their religious silverware pouches. This one was the best since it had blessing-type prayers on it for Catholics, Protestants, and Jewish people.
