Chuy Taco's named after the famed radio personality, Chuy Gomez, was popping for realz. Ran into these fabulous tacos at my cuzzin's summer party. They recently just moved from Tracy to San Jose. During their down time I to totally got to know them. The guy to talk to is JR (junior). Him and his team made such great tacos and with efficiency. Ooooh weeee and the jalapeño filled cheese was just so good. I hadn't been to my cuzzin's, summer party in 5 years as we were out of the area for a while and I think this year, they had to getter a bigger venue because the get togethers just keeps growing and growing. I especially loved that they cook the meat on-site -- it made everything so fresh and delicious. They brought asada, chicken, and pastor for tacos, and trays of rice and beans. The spread was amazing: all the fixings -- hot and mild salsas, onions, cilantro, limes, cheese, pickled jalapeños, guacamole sauce, chips, and even jalapeño poppers cooked fresh on the grill. Several guests were so impressed they asked for Chuy's contact info on the spot -- including the mother of the groom during the party and my cousin after. One of the things I'm super particular about is waste -- I didn't want any styrofoam, and Chuy Tacos totally respected that. They provided paper plates, compostable forks, and napkins. No plastic in sight. Booking was easy -- just $100 to reserve the date, and their pricing was incredibly affordable for everything they offered. They brought everything: tables, tablecloths, and all setup. I didn't lift a finger. No travel fee either and they packaged up all of the leftovers for us to keep.
