If you're looking for the best filled churros in Oakland, this is it! We've been coming here for years and always get ours filled with caramel and chocolate--fresh, warm, and perfect every time. Other spots don't compare. ($3 regular / $4 filled)
Small food stand across the street from the bart and many outdoor tables to sit and eat. My friend was craving churros so I went with her and we shared the following: -Original churro: Good for satisfying a little sweet tooth. Not too sweet. A little chew to it, but in a good and satisfying way. Can't go wrong! -Vanilla churro: Favorite! It was creamy, and even though it looks like it would be sweetness overload it wasn't too sweet at all! Like a vanilla pudding stuffed into a churro. Can't go wrong. -Strawberry churro: We thought this was going to be cream based, similar to the vanilla churro, but it was jelly based (no cream). I thought it was pretty good, but my friend sensed a bit of bitterness to it (I didn't taste it) so I finished it! My friend's craving was satisfied and she thought it was better than a lot of overpriced churros she's had elsewhere! Very quiet (only one couple who was finishing their churros) when we got there around 7pm on a Friday night.
We visited this food stand on Sunday, for a chocolate filled churro and fried plantains. Street parking was free and easy right across the street in the afternoon. Service was quick and efficient. They accept credit cards for payment, which is convenient. And outdoor seating was plentiful just outside the Fruitvale Public Market in front of the food stand. The churro and plantains tasted freshly made and delicious, satisfying treats to enjoy in a casual and carefree atmosphere.
There's a sign on the back of the Churros Mexicanos cart that says "Los mejores churros rellenos" (The best filled churros), and the tagline is 100% true! I've been coming here for a while, and the churros are always fresh, hot, delicious, and consistent. They offer both regular churros and churros rellenos--filled with vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, or caramel. They're all great, but my favorites are the chocolate-filled churro and the classic unfilled one. They also serve plátanos, but to be honest, I've never tried them because I love the churros too much. I always tell myself I'll give them a shot next time, but the smell of those freshly fried churros gets me every time. The cart is conveniently located near the Fruitvale BART station, with easy parking. The woman who works there is incredibly kind and always so sweet. No matter how busy it gets, she greets everyone with a smile, making the experience even better. If you're in the area, this place is a must-visit.
Churros Mexicanos - Fruitvale Public Market, Oakland, CA Rating: 10 out of 10 This little cart is a whole vibe. Tucked inside the Fruitvale Public Market, Churros Mexicanos always has a line when I show up and another one when I leave--and honestly, I get it. I ordered four plain churros and four churros rellenos in vanilla, fresca, caramelo, and chocolate. Everything was made fresh on the spot. They were steaming hot, soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and hit with the perfect amount of cinnamon and sugar. The flavors didn't taste processed or overly sweet. Just comforting and real, like a bite of childhood. My son loves this place too. He always gives it a 10 out of 10. This time, I agree. If you're in Oakland and want something sweet that feels like home, this is it. A true Oakland gem. I'll definitely be back.
Our church catered their churro truck. They were efficient and fast and kept the line moving. Churros were so good. Crispy on the outside. Good and balanced texture on the inside. I got the caramel filling, expecting it to be very sweet. It was perrrrfect! This is probably one of the best churros I've ever had.
Hot, crispy, and delicious. Quick and friendly service. The churro had a great flavor, clean oil, nice dusting of cinnamon sugar on top. Crispy on the outside with a soft interior. Perfect $3 dessert.
Churros: Im a churros lover and this was FRESH!! They literally fry it right in front of you. And its so cheap! I'd be careful though, its piping hot . But it cools down surprisingly fast. But genuinely is really hot and I bit a few right when they gave it to me and had to toss it like a potato around my mouth to avoid burns. Delicious churros, crunchy and sweet, I'd come back for more. That was just the regular, imagine the other flavors! Extra In a pretty nice Mexican community They accept debit, I gave them my card and they did the paying thing for me. Wait time is fast obv 5/5 churros

We had the plain churro, hot and smothered with cinnamon sugar. It was perfect - proper crunchy exterior, good balance of savory and sweet, and full of texture and flavor. The woman behind the counter is highly competent and very nice. The plantanos was by far the most delicious though! It was served perfectly caramelized and drizzled with sweetened condensed milk. Food of the gods! Warning: be careful not to burn your tongue! Everything is *very* fresh from the fryer!
Flavor wise, always excellent. With inflation though, the prices keep rising and the churros are getting smaller for sure. I've been coming since I was a kid and was shocked at the size this last time. Still love this place though. There are other carts as well nearby, but I like this place. They take cash & card.
Made to order, flavorful, a large portion of what became my favorite churros spot in Oakland (no more waiting to enjoy them in Lathrop). I purchased 3 total-caramel and strawberry flavors- whew wee they were so fresh and hot! Passed by when visiting the plaza to visit the beautiful Catrina that's now located near the fountain. The churros are delicious. She had them lightly fried on a wire rack and dropped them back in oil to finish cooking to order; this did not give it an oily taste since it was only lightly fried prior We got 2 regular and 2 caramel, I personally don't care for the regular ones they're pretty dry however the caramel ones are sooo so good and I'll definitely be back for more! What a gem -- hot, made-to-order churros with a variety of filling options! The plain churros are $3 and the filled ones are $4. Warning that the filled churros can get sticky. I bit into the churro and it squirted caramel onto my pants haha, so just be mindful. They really don't skimp on the fillings. The churro stand is on the patio of Fruitvale Public Market, where there is plenty of outdoor seating. It's a cute spot to enjoy your churros and is very close to BART. read more

*Drools* Churro rellenos!! Have you ever had a filled churro? I been missing out all these years. I just had my first ever filled churro and I'm addicted. I always thought Costco churro was delicious but damn this churro cart was even better. It was fresh out the batter and it was filled with your choice of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. Super cheap, tasty, and fresh! We ordered one regular churro and 2 churro rellenos with chocolate and strawberry. My favorite was the strawberry and it was sooo good! I loved how fresh it was and the filling was not too sweet. It was $2/churro or $2.50/churro rellenos. I recommend ordering a few and you can always save it to eat later in the day or eat it all at the same time cause it's so addicting :) Churro cart is easy to find. It's right outside the market and near Fruitvale Bart Station - so I recommend visiting for a churro if you're stopping/waiting at the Bart. Simple to order and deliciously cheap :) read more

They were randomly parked I'm Vallejo and we got the churros (original) and loaded potatoes. The food and service was great! Wish they'd be around the area more. read more

Sizzling hot Churros make fresh hourly or at your request. Best churros!!! Regular is popping hot , be careful bitting into it. The crispy crunch exterior yet interior, the dough is soft yet right firmness. My personal favorite is Carmel filled churro for $.50 more with creamy and sweet filling. I was excited to see a churro truck since I'd been craving a nice hot and crunchy churro for weeks - - but I was disappointed by my experience with Churros Mexicanos Plus. At $4 per 6in churro, these babies are expensive! I was expecting a big stick of a churro, but nope. These are the lil' ones :c I ordered a strawberry churro, assuming that they'd make one to order and the sauce would be provided on the side. Nope. I watched the worker walk to the end of the truck where a bunch of churros sat out and take one of those and stab it to fill it up. Okay, I guess having it filled makes it easier to eat. BUT. She pierced through the side of the churro and the sauce ended up being partially inside and outside...making it rather messy to eat. The strawberry sauce had an artificial taste. The churro was warm from sitting on the fryer, but I do wish it had been made to order so there'd be that added crunch factor. Sadly this was a subpar experience that made me wish I'd waited to get a $1 churro from Costco instead :( Oh well. My churro hunt continues! read more

Freshly made churros! Churros Mexicanos is a stand located in the Fruitvale Village next to the Fruitvale Market that sells churros and plantanos. Regular churros are $2.00 and Relleno churros with vanilla, caramel, strawberry and chocolate choices are $2.50. Plantanos are $5.00. I ordered a Vanilla churro. It was warm, not overly sweet with nice crisp on the outside and soft interior. The vanilla filling was custard-like. These might not be as big as the box store churros, but they are not doughy and are fried, not baked. I am hooked and will be back. Churros ! read more
My son used to have an annual Disneyland pass when he was going to college in SoCal, yeah... "What choo doing goin' to Dland when you should be studying? Don't cha get bored goin' so much?" "Oh no Dad, sometime ya jus want a Churro!" Sheesh, who wants a Churro that badly? Well, you'll want one, or two, or three, if they're freshly made and burn in your mouth hot. That's what you'll get at this permanent Churro stand in a courtyard across from the Fruitvale BART station. Choice of regular for $2 each or filled for $2.50 each. I like the regular which is hot, fluffy, and light.. almost like a cloud but hot. Filling choices are Chocolate, Vanilla, Stawberry (as my locals say), or Caramel. Careful, as they are fried hot on the spot and mouth burnin'. Easy to get to if you're taking BART but a challenge if you're driving and looking for parking. Nice polite lady working the stand. Straight cash or charge and they'll tax you...can sit in the outside courtyard and watch life go by...... read more

This was definitely the most authentic churro I've had in the US, and on par with the churros you can get in Mexico. I have a very mixed opinion on cajeta, since I'm not big on goat's milk caramel, and opted for their Chocolate Filled Churro ($2.50) which was amazing!! A must try for sure. The churro was still warm, perfectly crispy on the outside but still light and fluffy inside. The chocolate filling had great chocolate flavor and wasn't overly sweet. I will be back to try the caramel filled and more chocolate filled! Parking in this area is super tough, and you have to luck out to get street parking if you don't want a long walk. I believe you can also park at the Fruitvale BART lot nearby. read more

Yum yum yum! I look forward to smelling churros when I'm at a ballpark, festival, or just walking down Mission Street. I was excited to try a filled churro! They have a variety of flavors. I got the caramelo churro (dulce de leche). The churro was coated with cinnamon sugar and was filled with a perfectly sweet filling. For $2.50, this dessert was just right! I loved it. :) I'd definitely try the other flavors. read more
