I was referred to Churn Creek Chiropractic by my primary care physician after waiting over a month for my first appointment. Before my visit, I received an intake packet by email and was instructed to complete it ahead of time so the check-in process would be quicker. I filled everything out immediately, including marking the areas where I was experiencing pain, exactly as requested. When I arrived for my appointment, I was handed another copy of the same paperwork. After reviewing it, I was told that the areas I marked did not match what my doctor had written in the referral. Rather than asking questions or trying to better understand why there was a difference, I was left feeling as though I had done something wrong. As a new patient who had been waiting weeks for relief, I walked away from that conversation feeling like my appointment might not even happen because of something that could have easily been clarified. When I met with the chiropractor, I was informed that because of my insurance, he could only see me twice a month and that two visits per month would not be enough to make much of a difference. Hearing that at my very first appointment was discouraging and left me feeling as though my care was not worth the effort. The adjustment itself was extremely brief. The office had several adjustment tables lined up, and patients were moved through one after another in rapid succession. From my perspective, the experience felt more like an assembly line than individualized patient care. I never felt like my concerns or condition were truly being evaluated. After my adjustment, I was told I needed X-rays because the chiropractor did not want to continue treating me without them. Rather than ordering the X-rays directly or coordinating that process, I had to return to my primary care physician to request them myself. Even my doctor commented that this was unusual. I completed the X-rays as instructed and then waited to hear back from the office about scheduling my next appointment. I never received a phone call or any follow-up. Because of the overall experience and lack of communication, I asked my doctor to refer me to another chiropractic office. I was able to get in the very same day, and the chiropractor personally called me to discuss my condition before my appointment. That interaction immediately felt more professional, more personal, and centered around me as a patient. This review reflects my personal experience. My hope is that Churn Creek Chiropractic improves its communication and patient experience so people seeking help feel listened to, cared for, and treated like individuals--not like numbers. read more

I found the support staff friendly and welcoming. unfortunately my experience with the chiropractor, Donovan Hutchins was not good. Interestingly there is another comment here that sounds a lot like my experience. My neck was adjusted rather forcefully and created major pain down my neck and into the shoulder. I received an insulting comment from Hutchins (if you wipe that look off your face the muscle can relax!) and he told the massage therapist to take care of me. Not once did he check back to see if I felt better. Unprofessional To say the least. read more

I have been to a number of chiropractors over the years, and this place is the absolute worst I've ever used. Without ANY diagnostic imaging or even the tool they run down your spine to find the affected vertebrae, I was strapped into a traction machine and left alone, and then "adjusted" by an idiot applying his full force to my lower spine. I was much worse off than when I came in, could barely walk out and had more pain for the next week than I had before. The facility was more focused that day on giving numerous school sports physicals(?) one after another. DO NOT GO HERE. I've had 2 negative experiences now while wearing regular high waisted & mid-thigh jean shorts. The first excuse I was given when covered up with a blanket was that "the doctor can use the blanket to glide over that area [my legs] smoother", and just today, it happened again. However, the reason this time (which I believe to be the truth, meaning the last excuse was a lie) being that it was for "modesty - due to some people wearing short shorts." It's quite rude to say that to someone who already struggles with body dysmorphia, not to mention how gross it is to view the human body (which your entire job is centered around, so it should be completely normalized) in a sexual manner, especially when there's nothing sexual about a woman just existing in regular summer clothes. It is not my job to be complacent and make YOU comfortable with MY body. read more

I am currently 1 week postpartum, full of hormones, and have been having severe neck/shoulder pain from birth and breastfeeding. I already couldnt sleep because I have a newborn who feeds every two hours, but couldn't sleep even more because of the pain. I scheduled an appointment here. I planned out the whole day with baby care and feedings so I would have time for my appointment. I live out of town, and as I was on my way, they call me 10 minutes before my appointment as I'm driving and tell me I can't be seen and need a referral from my primary care provider. (Definitely trying to scam me for my insurance). Crying my eyes out I even asked if she could forget about that insurance, take my other insurance, or I could just pay out of pocket. They said NO..I have a NEWBORN and have been in severe pain for 5 days. I just started to be able to walk again from the pain from birth so I could finally go see a chiropractor for my neck pain. NOPE. They cancelled on me 10 minutes before my appointment. Like how the hell am I supposed to make a whole other doctors appointment to get a referral in this much pain and with a 1 week old newborn at home? Ridiculous. I called all around Redding to different chiropractors seeing who could get me in that minute. Because I already made the drive in town and I couldn't take another day of pain. I called dr Hult family chiropractic, told her about my pain, situation, and how I just got cancelled on, and she took me right in. Didn't have to worry about a referral or insurance, fixed me up, paid the very cheap price and sent me on my way. Highly recommend Hult family chiropractic!!!! read more

I've been coming here for a year now and I won't be returning. July 23rd I went in for my routine biweekly adjustment with Dr. Hutchings and was injured on the table. Initially I thought the impingement would dissipate soon. It did not. The injury was addressed to the doctor's staff alone who I told I could not side twist while on my back for any part of the adjustment due to pain. The doctor had to be reminded every time, (biweekly) which was acceptable until visit Oct 6th. Upon reminding him of my needed accommodation, he replied "Oh, you're the picky one." Followed by "Meh! Meh! Meh!" Mocking gibberish. The front desk staff has always been kind and professional. The water table is a nice touch as well. However, due to the lack of professionalism and empathy from the chiropractor, I will never visit again. The 2 stars are to give some credit to the staff. read more

I made an appointment for a DOT physical here. Cane in a few minutes prior to my time. I was greeted by a Natalie who was smiling and very friendly. She started my testing immediately, and the atmospherewas very relaxing. I was seen by Dr Hutchings who was very thorough and had a pretty good sence of humor...although a little dry...lol.... I absolutely love this place. I have been going here for well over two years now and absolutely thank them for helping me with my back problems. The front desk ladies are an absolute joy and Dr. Donovan has done wonders for my neck and lower back, along with the monthly massages. It is the most relaxing place ever. Tips for getting a massage: If it is your very first massage or your first in a while, go easy. Ask for someone with a gentle touch. Churn Creek Chiropractic is really awesome!! I was visiting Redding over the summer and started to have terrible back pain, probably from way too much sitting at work. I called around to try to get an emergency appointment at different offices and had no luck but when I called Churn Creek they agreed to see me right away. My husband went in for his DOT exam and was greeted with a very helpful and friendly staff. The chiropractor was very straightforward and he did his job with the up most professionalism. With that said, please be aware that if you have any prior medical concerns and are not going to pass with flying colors you are wasting your $80 that would be better spent on a doctor who can oversee your medical and do the DOT exam, as well. Once you begin the screening he is by law legally bound to enter the information in the computer. You have only three chances to pass the DOT exam. read more
