2 months ago I went in for a wisdom tooth extraction. Got all 4 yanked out at the same time. I was put under general anesthesia for the operation. I went to sleep and less than an hour later I woke up and they were done. I healed fantastically within the specified time the doctor stated. They provide instructions for the after care part of the procedure to ensure minimal complications. I went to one other oral surgeon before proceeding with my wisdom tooth removal surgery for all 4 teeth at Dr. Tony Chung's office. Safe to say, my experience at Dr. Chung's office superseded my expectations and left the first oral surgeon IN THE DUST. I had a consultation and the actual surgery in the Burbank office. I had a phone call in preparation for my consultation (with the billing specialist?), and they were very transparent and detailed about fees and insurance. The person was kind and obviously very knowledgeable, and she even explained my specific insurance benefits (United Concordia). I didn't feel pressured at all, and I felt safe to ask all the dumb questions ha ha. They also asked me if I had any recent X-Rays and if I could bring a printed copy. This was great because it meant that I didn't have to pay more for an unnecessary scan. When I went for my actual consultation, it wasn't hard to find parking; there's plenty on the adjacent street and they even have a small back lot. The waiting room was clean, and I was greeted very kindly by the front desk. I spoke with Dr. Michael Chung for my consultation. He didn't need to look in my mouth since all the information was pretty evident in the printed copy of my panoramic X-ray. We talked for about 20-30 min, and he explained everything about wisdom teeth from both a medical and personal standpoint (i.e. complications, risks, finances, age factor, etc). He even annotated on my printed x-ray as he explained the procedure, I was very impressed. At that point, I felt like I was confident in my decision to remove all 4 teeth at once with IV sedation with the Chung family. After I spoke with Dr. Michael Chung, I sat in the room for a few minutes waiting for the billing specialist I spoke to a few weeks ago on the phone (I should've gotten her name!). When she came in, she apologized for the wait and went into detail about my bill estimation; she had actually REMEMBERED that I went to a different oral surgeon first and guessed how much they charged me so that it can be factored into how much my insurance would cover. I was pleasantly surprised, and in the middle of our conversation I remembered that the other oral surgeon had already submitted a claim to my insurance that week, so I let the billing specialist take a look over it as well and I watched her RECALCULATE in real time. Her first estimate was pretty darn close to the actual estimate -- I was super impressed again. I've had bad experiences with billing before since a lot of people have been dismissive of my questions and concerns, so this made me happy. The quote itself was extremely fair, the other place quoted me $1000/two teeth which is pretty outrageous (they did not want to remove all my impacted wisdom teeth since they said it would be complicated for them). My actual surgery went super well. It was performed by the man himself I believe, Dr. Tony Chung. He inserted the IV needle through my hand instead of my arm, since I mentioned I have a history of being a bad poke. The procedure to remove 3 impacted (2 lower, 1 upper) and 1 fully erupted (1 upper) took about 45 min -- I was impressed AGAIN. Dr. Tony Chung then asked me if I wanted my removed teeth, and after saying yes he gently put it in my shirt pocket lol. I then had a follow up appointment at the Van Nuys office. It was in a mixed use building and I parked in the big parking structure. I got a little lost at first since it was my first time. So in that sense, I prefer the Burbank office a bit more. Anyways, I was quickly met with Dr. Eric Chung I think? He had longer hair and he was present at my surgery. He was very swift, and his explanations for post-procedure care were clear. He examined my extraction sites and showed me how to properly irrigate the holes. No complaints there, I was in and out in a jiffy -- so I was impressed for the 4th time. To summarize, my experience was excellent and smooth. All of the Chung family and staff are clearly knowledgeable, experienced, and caring. I was referred by my dentist for extraction of my lower wisdom teeth. I had my consultation and x-rays with Dr. Michael Chung, who gave me all the necessary information: why the extraction was important, the steps of the procedure, as well as pre- and post-care. Dr. Tony Chung handled the extraction and my follow-up visit. He walked me through everything, and answered any questions I had. I had only minimal swelling on the first day with no pain whatsoever. The office also called in the prescription for pain relievers and antibiotics to my preferred pharmacy ahead of time so that it was ready to pick up by the time I was done (which was no more than an hour). The staff were all friendly and helpful. Everyone from the front desk to assistants to both doctors had such great demeanors that I had no qualms about surgery. Beware !!!!!!!!! This Dr is a total scam !!! Not only did my teenage son ended up in the hospital the night of surgery because of blood loss but they also charged us and our insurance company twice and got paid twice! We've been through hell and back with their incompetent office staff trying to get our refund... Please please think twice about taking your kids to Dr Chung before having any procedures. Now we're left with a 5,000 hospital visit and a 2,000 ambulance visit not to mention paying them twice for the surgery!!! I don't want this to happen to anyone else out there so please beware!!!!! I was referred to Dr. Chung by my dentist to take out my two upper wisdom teeth, one of which was impacted. I had previously had x-rays taken (bring them if you have them! Save yourself some money) but they didn't properly show the impacted tooth so they had to take new ones. My appointment was for 1:00 pm and I was ready to leave by 2:10 pm, including all of the paperwork, x-rays, payment, and the extraction itself. Dr. Chung was extremely professional, patient, and knowledgeable. He explained the entire procedure in detail, went through the aftercare process, and answered all questions I had before starting the extraction. I initially wanted to be put to sleep, but my insurance didn't cover it so I went with local anesthetic. It wasn't difficult for two teeth, but if you have any more than that, or get squeamish easily, I'd definitely recommend going under. The receptionist and dental assistants are extremely kind and reassuring, and their encouragement helped settle some of my nerves. Dr. Chung numbed the area with some topical anesthetic, then went in with shots. Thanks to the topical, you can't really feel much, but I did feel the pressure from the needles. At most it feels like a sharp pinch. After waiting for a bit, Dr. Chung tested out the area to make sure it was properly numb, then started the extraction. Not gonna lie- it was pretty gnarly, but it didn't hurt a bit. The worst part is definitely the noises and the pressure, but Dr. Chung was great the entire time. After explaining what to do and what not to do for the first day, Dr. Chung gave me a prescription for painkillers and antibiotics and sent me home with some gauze. He will tell you to take the painkillers as soon as you get home. MAKE SURE TO DO THIS BEFORE THE ANESTHETIC WEARS OFF. I'm on the third day of recovery and it's gone extremely smoothly- haven't experienced any pain at all. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Chung to any of my friends who need their teeth extracted, especially for the ones who get anxious at the idea of dental work. read more

Took my son for a consultation. Dr. Chung is very informative, goes over every option throughly. He actually educates his patients. His front office staff can be abrupt and rushed at times. They aren't rude but they aren't warm and fuzzy either. A super steady hand makes for the best outcome. The front desk also shows immense hospitality - talking through the after care and what to expect. I got all four wisdom teeth removed, and this is the first day of healing, so coming from me I think that shows just how amazing Dr. Chung is at what he does. He's been in practice for many years and to book an appointment - you're looking into at least two weeks, which I think is proof of how good he is. The procedure ended up being 100% pain free and here l am after getting an extraction earlier today, writing a review, pain free. I've had several tooth extractions during childhood years, it was quite painful that one will never forget. I dread having dentist visits. Now, in my 40s, I had a cavity in a wisdom tooth, needed an extraction. Needless to say, I was quite petrified. Dr. Chung reviewed the x-ray, went over the procedure, patiently waited for the anesthesia to kick in. Before I knew it, it was over, painlessly! The nurse told me to take Motrin after the anesthesia wore off, I was anticipating another unpleasant experience. To my surprise, I didn't need Motrin after all and it did not bleed much! I had a molar suddenly start falling apart. No warning. Obviously in deep decay and in need of some immediate dental attention. I went into Dr. Chungs office, after a dental referral. I was completely panicked, just scared beyond belief. They had also found that one of the roots of the decaying wisdom tooth had not grown in straight, but rather, in the shape of a 7, wrapping itself around the nerve. I almost had to be dragged in. I went, put my brave face on, and listened to Dr. Chung go over everything with me. Not going into detail, but he started (I opted for Novocain only, and as much as possible) again, while he was giving me more Novocain, but he started. Gave Novocain as needed and just started to work his magic. I kid you no, there was virtually no pain and the pressure was minimal. What seemed like 15 - 20 minutes into the procedure, he's sewing me up. No major nothing. No cutting into the nerve, no nothing. NO PAIN. I would and do highly recommend Dr. Chung. I read another review on his staff, and they're absolutely right. All void of personality, kindness, you know, what you need into today's world. All lacking. Dr. Chung, however, is not lacking. read more
