It's a super chill Korean corn dog shop. It's so good! Crispy and fresh with so many sause options. We got half cheese and half sausage with ramen crunch on outside. It was SO GOOD. It's not greasy or doughy. It was the perfect ratio with the most satisfying cheesy pull if you get the cheese center. They were pretty quick, and there's a small area to stand and eat. I highly recommend it!!!

Chung Chun, a Korean Rice Dog shop, opens its first location in Downtown Montreal‼Korean style hotdogs are essentially like American corn dogs with a twist. They add glutinous rice into the batter which makes the dough so soft and chewy~ Yesterday, I finally got to try it out! Korean Rice Dog Rubric: - Crispiness - Chewy Dough - Cheese Pull These hotdogs were not only crispy on the outside but also chewy on the inside!! Everyone has been asking me if it was worth the wait and YES it was worth the wait!! The approximate waiting time is 40 minutes to 2 hours. Delicious korean corn dogs. I tried the potato, ramen chips, squid ink and volcano. They were huge and were crispy on the outside. You can mix and match your sauce on them. They price range is from 4-7$ but they're definitely worth the price considering how filling they are. The wait time is super long. There weren't that many people before us but we waited almost 2h before being able to order.

I'm pretty sure most of you have had the pogos from the local supermarket with the red and blue logo at least ONCE during your childhood. Chung Chun Rice Dog is a brand that first started in North York, Ontario and it brings you the excitement of korean flavours with the nostalgia of pogos, now called korean pogos or "kogos" (how the trendy people call them). The crust is softer and chewier than your usual pogo since they use rice flour to make them instead of whole wheat flour. You start by choosing your filling (sausage, mozzarella stick, tteokbokki, potato crust, etc.) and then you have a variety of sauces to choose from to complete your order. It's pretty well managed, but since we're in a pandemic, only 1-2 customers are allowed at a time inside the store. Expect to wait at least 45 minutes from lining up to leaving with your food. I've read that some people waited 2h to get their order... It's good and the exterior is crunchy. If you recently watched the hit korean drama "Start-Up" on Netflix, it's exactly what they ate on screen. It's still a street food, so if you don't want to wait outside in the cold for a hot dog on a stick, I suggest you come back in the spring when the hype has died down a bit. Nonetheless, if you happen to be in the area and you see no line, you should definitely check it out and try it at least once! I recommend the mozzarella, try to do the longest cheese pull.

Finally got to try Chungchun after all the hype I've seen on Tiktkok, Instagram, etc. We went there on a Sunday evening, the line wasn't too long. We waited around 10 minutes to get our order. We got the ramen pogo, potato pogo and cheese one. We added honey mustard and spicy mayo on all of them. They were very generous with sauce and the pogos are huge!! The best one was the potato one and the ramen was our least favourite. One pogo is enough to fill you up and the price is definitely right!

This is worth the hype!! Its so crunchy and so delicious! You can chose so many toppings, from teriyaki sauce to spicy mayo, sugar, garlic butter and so many more! Only downside is the time you need to wait. Because it's a restaurant in high demand, there is a line outside than can go up to 2 hours!! I got lucky and only had to wait for 15 minutes.

We went to this place for the hype of Korean fried dog, and it tastes exactly as it looks like: corn dog with small potatoes on it. There's different spices and toppings to put on the corn dog, but you can barely taste it. It was good but I wouldn't exactly try it again.

A fun treat to eat! Love the crispiness on the outside, especially for the half-mozzarella one. Eating 2 of them is actually very filling and they are well sized. The service is good as well. After you order, you wait on the left side until your number comes up so that you can pick up your order. A server then puts the sauces you want for you. There was not a big line when we went (around 12pm on a Wednesday). Would recommend if you want to try something unique!

It is everything you hoped for! It was an amazing experience. These tasty kogos will satisfy your cheesy, crunch junk food craving on a cheat day and they are affordable enough to be able to taste a wide selection with your partner in crime. The the squid ink and Mozzarella Dog where by far my favorites

This place had a small line when I arrived on a Saturday afternoon. The line went fast however. There are several selections of hot dog you can pick, and they were already sold out of several options sadly. I only picked the potato hot dog to try, and now I wish I had ordered more! You have your choice of sauces, or you can try their recommended sauce combos. The outside was crispy and the hot dog inside had a good snap. Must try place, great for a snack when in the area.

From left; jumbo spicy volcano, original, ramen, potatoe (favourites were the volcano and ramen!)

Always wanted to try this Korean street food staple! This is the only place to get these in Montreal. I highly recommend trying this place, if you're patient it's worth it. They were well organized which made the process enjoyable. They have a line to wait and place your order. And another line to wait for your order number to be called and pick up your Kogos! About a 20-30 minute wait. So be prepared to at least wait in line a while before you get your order. Ordered 4 different kinds; the volcano, original, potato and ramen. Our favourites were the spicy volcano as it was juicy and crispy, also the ramen for its extra crunch! I didn't know that when you pick up your order there are many sauces and spices you can top your kogos with. So keep that in mind! They had ketchup, spicy mayo, bbq, teriyaki, mustard, Parmesan cheese etc...

I can't believe it took me till I arrived in Montreal to try this place! It was on my to try list since SGV days. This place is wild!! We arrived on a Tuesday late morning for an appointment to the dentist, and I thought heck, why not make it a boba and Korean pogo day. I swung by shuyi, then timed it so I could get to Chung chun before their opening time at 11:30. Well... guess what..? By 11:22 there was already a line (!!) and I was fifth. When I first parked around 11:00 I saw other ppl tentatively park and casually walk up to figure out whether or not to start lining up then. It's nuts!! The line grew like crazy by the time opening finally came and another line for pick up rapidly formed on the other side. Basically, wait in line, order, pay, go wait outside again (on the other side), and then go back inside to choose your sauces and pick up your dogs. It's a whole experience. Meanwhile, I loved that there was a random barber shop in between Chung chun ans uncle tetsu and occasionally a grumpy old guy would come out of the shop and stare curiously at this whole exhibition. All together took me about 30-35 mins from lining up to victoriously brandishing 2 korean pogos in my grasp. On to the food!! It was ok in my opinion. But maybe it was because they were cold by the time we ate them so that might have been our fault. Sauces were great and somehow the crunch was still there (esp for ramen one). The texture of the batter is more cakey than usual pogos, and lighter. It's a tad sweeter as well. The potatoes were soooo good!! It really was like a pogo combo with fries in a bite! Two was pleeenty for us two and it's a bit tedious to eat since the thing is humongous. I don't know if it's supposed to be like that but the middle is a bit too raw for the dough for my liking. And the potato hot dog is significantly worse quality than the one they used for their ramen one. Like thin and rubbery and little flavor. It's a bit on the pricey side, about $11 for two, but mostly it's that I had to keep feeding the parking meter to wait in line (which brought up the total to about $18). Was it good food? Sure! But maybe we'll come back once the frenzy of waiting in line is over.

Service was one of the better things about this restaurant. Our server was attentive quick and the food came out fairly fast after ordering. Restaurant has a lot of small tables and is better for smaller groups and you can squeeze multiple people into the smaller tables as long as you let your server know that you're fine with squeezing in. May be getting carry out instead? We were able to get seated at a two top picnic table before 7pm, only about a 5-10 minute wait. Ordered two sides of kimchi, Kim gui, tteokbokki, regular spicy chickie, Buldak chicken. C$74.23 The kimchi side comes with a side of shredded radish, which is quite sweet. Was hoping it would be the cubed radish kimchi instead. The shredded radish clumps together, it's ok. The kimchi is also so-so. The seaweed is good. The tteokbokki is a small portion, the gochujang sauce tastes smokey, it's pretty good. Comes with mushrooms. The spicy chickie is good, the breading is light and crispy. The chickie is nicely fried, not too dry. I should have read more carefully, the Buldak is smothered in cheese, had to removed it all off the top of the meat. The meat is oddly cut, it's nicely cooked and tender. It's a big portion of meat. There is no complimentary rice with the BBQ Buldak chicken, that's a first. No banchans here as complimentary here either, not very Korean of this place at all. :/

TL;DR/The Short Version: Casual Korean eatery. Great combos…read morewith lots of variety. Everything was tasty. The Long Version: My husband and I went here for lunch. I got the fried chicken combo ($16.99) and my husband got the beef combo ($16.99). We requested no sesame seeds for our food and they accommodated by not sprinkling sesame seeds on the rice, japchae or beef, but they forgot that one of the fried chicken sauces has sesame seeds in it, so I had to give my husband that piece. We were going to share anyway, so it wasn't a big deal for me. The Fried Chicken Combo came with 3 pieces of fried chicken, each one a different flavour: original, sweet and spicy, and soy garlic. The sweet and spicy sauce has sesame seeds in it. Since I can't eat sesame seeds but can tolerate slight contamination, I didn't bring it up and just gave that piece to my husband. Although in retrospect I should have alerted them for them to be more aware for someone else who might have a more severe issue. Both combos came with japchae, rice, 2 dumplings, and coleslaw. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. It was great. I liked both the original and the soy garlic. Hubby liked the sweet and spicy. The beef was tender and flavourful. And I liked that it was lean meat and not gristly. The dumplings were deep-fried and had pork and vegetables in it. The rice was nicely steamed and slightly sticky which I liked. The japchae was flavourful and had shiitake mushrooms, carrots, bell peppers and onions in it. It was little too oily for my preference, but I still enjoyed it. The combos also came with a can of soda or a bottle of water. My husband got a Coca Cola and I got a bottle of water, which I took to go to drink during my shopping adventures after lunch, since we were given tap water with our meal. Service was courteous and efficient. Lots of indoor seating with televisions playing K-pop music videos in the dining room. The restaurant is down a flight of stairs, so might be a problem for those with mobility issues. Review #18 (2025)
