White Slaw Versus Yellow Slaw It's been many years since I stopped by Chum's in Marmet. After dropping David off at football practice last, I thought it would be a perfect time to grab some of their dogs once again. Some folks swear by their yellow slaw but I've always been a white slaw type of girl. However, I'm always open to different things. To do an accurate comparison, I got one hot dog of each. If you didn't know, Chum's also offers white slaw. Two hotdogs and a pop was $7.77, so pretty cheap compared to other places. The staff was extremely nice and I especially liked the local cat celebrity, Gypsy Rose. First off, I tried the dog with white slaw. It was pretty good. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it had a nice flavor. The slaw was sweet and fine. The chili wasn't super meaty. Second was the dog with yellow slaw. I wouldn't say that the yellow slaw was bad. I think you really gotta love mustard to appreciate yellow slaw. It had a unique flavor. The only other place locally that I know of that has yellow slaw is Hot Doggity Dogs and I think Chum's blew them out of the water. Would I wake up in the middle of the night craving yellow slaw? No. I'll stick with white slaw. But definitely worth the stop if you are in the area!

    Sweet yellow slaw!!!

Overall, this place was really good. It' does not have any indoor dining, but did have outdoor picnic tables. The slaw was fantastic, but it was very sweet. The yellow slaw is a smidge too sweet for my taste, but was loved by others in our party. It was a great hotdog.

Cute little local hot dog joint. You must try the yellow slaw. I have never had it before Chum's. The prices are fair and the people working are friendly. They have picnic tables under a big maple tree.

Great little spot right off the interstate! We had delicious hotdogs with yellow slaw, chili and onions and fried pickles. The menu has a lot to offer besides hotdogs for just a walk up little shack. Super friendly people working too. Would recommend this to anyone wanting something different than chain restaurants. If you get the chance stop in and help support a small business!

Best example of a true West Virginia slaw dog that I have had in years. Yellow slaw is the best!!

We were really disappointed with our visit to Trivillian's Pharmacy Soda Fountain…read more From the start, the ambience was flat and unwelcoming. The first woman who greeted us barely spoke above a whisper when asking if we needed a menu, then handed us a flimsy trifold piece of paper with zero explanation. The whole interaction felt cold and awkward, not at all inviting. I ordered the BLT, which arrived cut lengthwise instead of diagonally--an immediate red flag for anyone who respects sandwiches. The bacon was thin, small, and overly crisp, more like a salad topping than something meant for a BLT. There was only one sad piece of lettuce, and the bony, middle was left on. My sister ordered the pulled pork sandwich and couldn't believe how the bun managed to be both toasted and soggy at the same time. She specifically asked for no coleslaw, yet it arrived smothered in coleslaw anyway. To top it off, no one checked on us after the food was dropped--no "how is everything," no refill offers, nothing. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere all missed the mark. I'd recommend skipping this spot and eating somewhere else if you can.

Their hot dogs remind me of the ones that my grandmother used to make when I was a kid. They are nothing extremely fancy--just sweet slaw and semi-meaty chili nestled on top of an all-beef weiner. This type of hot dog would definitely be a "hit" at any Church of God's Saturday morning bake sale. My granny was a church pianist, so I know this delightful taste particularly well! Their hot dogs are $2.25, so nothing astronomical about the price. They also do a special on two hot dogs and a milkshake. These are wholesome, delicious dogs that take you on a little stroll down memory lane.
