It took some time to find the right place for physical therapy, but this place is a game changer! I…read moredrove 1 hour into Anchorage every time I had an appointment to come see Joy because it was worth it. We worked on so much more than just TMJ to really bring balance and restoration to the whole body. Joy, was an integral part of the team I worked with for a year to bring me to a better place after a dental injury. The techniques I have been given have even helped me breathe better and she got me into the right shoes my body needed. Who would have ever known?! Thank you , Joy!

The Physical Therapy Place came highly recommended and luckily was in network for my insurance so I called to make an appointment. Located in an office building at the corner of 42nd and Laurel in the medical / university district, my first appointment involved arriving early and filling out the necessary background paperwork. I then met with Corina Carlson, PT, DPT who gave me my strength and flexibility assessment and discussed my medical background with me. Given I had been dealing with other health issues for the year prior, let's just say there were quite a few limitations. And my strength was next to nil. That didn't dissuade Corina however. We spent part of the 45 minute session working through 3 different exercises at the end of which I was given printouts and shown how to adapt them to home use as needed. Of course each session came with "homework." Which I diligently did almost every evening. We decided on a course of coming in once a week over a period of two months at which time everything would be reassessed. However often due to my work schedule some of those weekly schedules turned into bi-weekly. Which Corina would gently tease me about. Corina has a great personality and was very easy to work with. It was obvious from our first meeting she has her patients best interest at heart. The office is rather small and only consists of 2-3 physical therapists. But the office staff was friendly and insurance was billed promptly. Appointments were fairly easy to make. All in all this was my first bout of physical therapy and I was released for home care at the end of December when my knee started to show improvement. In the event I ever need PT again, I would definitely return to The Physical Therapy Place. And would whole heartedly recommend it to others.

I had to quit before I was discharged due to repeatedly having to fix billing issues where the office tried charging me hundreds for services incurred while they let my insurance authorization lapse. I called my insurance company and then my PCM to back date the auth for them to receive full payment and they sent me their file history where they had tried to contact the office for new authorization and the office didn't move on it for a month. Meanwhile I had no idea this had lapsed, or that again they would try to bill me because of course, insurance companies don't automatically pay for unauthorized service dates. When I asked why this kept happening or what I could do to prevent it going forward (other than somehow run the authorizations myself) the billing lady quickly became condescending and unprofessional rather than explain their procedure or reassure me that they would come up with a proactive approach to what I assume is a reoccurring situation for her. So, if you like sitting on the phone fixing old billing mishaps I would highly recommend. If you have better things to do, might look somewhere else for care.

I have not had any issues with this ankle. My second injury was more complicated. I had a torn hip labrum and torn glutes as well as plantar fasciitis. I again saw Alec for the plantar fasciitis. One visit with soft tissue work and a home stretching routine healed this in four weeks. For my hip issues I saw Alec, Brian and Helen. They worked on my pain and strength. Brian was amazing in getting my torn labrum back in place with it became painful. Helen does overall therapy but also does shock wave treatments. These helped relive my pain. Recognizing that I was also dealing with pain from overcompensation all of these PTs worked on my entire torso to reduce my pain and increase flexibility. I highly recommend United PT

OPA has been pretty great to me…read more Dr Patricia Fox is lovely. She's smart, she's kind, she has a charming southern-tinged accent, and a great bedside manner. She's great at explaining to me what's going on every step of the way. I fractured a shoulder and a wrist back in May and she has made this painful and complex process simple and comfortable. Why not 5 stars? The company that handles the X-rays in here is unethnical. They'll send you to collections over the drop of a hat. I had a bill for like $30 that I wasn't aware of....it was about 16 days old and I got a letter from collections about it. They have since apologized and corrected the issue but...Ih have many more X-ray's and CT's in my future, so I won't up the rating until I get through all of those without additional nasty-grams from collections.

Their parking is limited for such a huge building with large staff. That's a definite complaint but not a deal breaker. Most of the staff we've encountered have been ultra helpful, welcoming, and most importantly, knowledgeable. Some appointments have felt very "assembly line," but for the most part, any concerns we've brought up seem to be received well. X-rays are completed each appointment we've had. Equipment and medical room areas always look clean and professional. We especially appreciate their walk in injury clinics. Very convenient. Staff encountered working those special hours have been efficient and patient. We look forward to continuing our care here.
