My Budget/Avis rental car broke down and their roadside assistance left me stranded in a parking lot three hours away from my destination, with only half a request to Chuck's Auto to come get me (basically they had started asking them to come bring me a new car, but didn't complete the paperwork and didn't send the authorization). I get ahold of them and explained my situation, it's dark and cold, I'm in the middle of nowhere and this car is unsafe to drive. Well they sent their driver to haggle me a new one from Budget/Avis (roadside assistance had not called the local branch to let them know a car was needed for me) and brought me the car, without authorization from Budget/Avis or knowing if they would get paid. I was SO thankful. Thank you so much for going well above and beyond and getting me out of that parking lot!! read more

I had to get a rental car picked up as me and one of my friends had Covid. They called me and told me they were 8 minutes away and where is the key. I had to let them know we hadn't had a moment to clean out the entire car as it's very difficult trying to get on an elevator in an apartment building when you have Covid. I called them back after my friend who has Covid was able to clean out the car and the owner/guy who answers the phone says "really we were just there". I told him we had to clean out the car, he says you would've thought it would have been cleaned out after you called us. I never called them I notified Avis and they contacted them to pick up the rental car. They just said they would call and let us know when they were coming..but 8 mins away?..the car wasn't even due untill 3:30 Central and he calls me about 12:30 Eastern. Apparently they have no concept of how Covid affects a person making it difficult to breathe as well as make sure you're not around others which would include being on an elevator with others. The only other option was take the stairs...Are you going to walk up 5 flights of stairs with items you packed up in a car and having Covid?..No I don't think so. Next time give a person more time than an 8 minute notice that you're on your way. Extremely rude and unprofessional. I hope Avis reconsiders who they're doing business with. read more

Chuck has been in business for 40 years. During that time he has done over 55,000 tows and 47,000 car repairs. When people buy their own parts, and expect someone to do the dirty work, they should figure out how to do it themselves. He and his drivers are out cleaning up people's messes in all kinds of weather, day and night. Why don't you try it sometime. (P.S) I am female, in my 70's, can change my oil, flat tires, and can drive a standard. So buck up!!! If you give someone a hard time, what do you expect? I have seen Chuck go out of his way to help people. And cash? Some have used credit cards and then canceled them. How would you like to work and not get paid??? If you can do better, then do so. These guys are real pieces of work. They demand cash and try to hold the vehicle and possessions hostage, in violation of voluntary tow statutes. If you get in an accident, DO NOT voluntarily let them tow your car to their lot. Thank goodness for the Windsor Locks Police, or the guy who runs the place would have made a bad situation much worse. The tow driver was complicit, and was all friendly until we arrived. I could not rate this business low enough. This place is a well known problem that I was unfortunate enough to have run across. read more

My simple advice would be to stay far far away from this place. If your car happens to get towed by this company, get your car out and take it anywhere else ASAP. They try to charge for services that don't apply to you and will make your life an absolutely nightmare. There is zero customer service and you will be treating terribly for no reason; simply put, run far away from this "business"! read more

While it was Unfortunate my car got towed, The staff and tow driver were very friendly. They only charged me what the state mandated. And they did not give me a hard time at all getting my car back. I had all the proper paperwork and I had cash. read more

Owner answered the phone twice very unprofessional, rude, sarcastic. Acted as if I was bothering him. Practically hung up on me after screaming. He said that I could only pay in cash. No credit card or any other type of payment. Car wasn't even there 16 hours and charged double of what another places charge. Total rip-off. Said I needed air in the tires and charged an enormous amount for that. When I got there I stated tires did not need air and can be driven but driver stated the bill is already wrote up and he's gonna put air in tires anyway. $25 to put air in that I didn't need. Driver was on time and very nice. Bad deal over all. Don't know how this business stays open with the way the paying public is treated by this owner. read more

My car broken down on I91 near the Hartford airport. I called the closest towing company according to Google maps. As it was Saturday, no repair shops in the area were open, so the tow company took my car to their shop to look at on Monday. Less than ideal, but it seemed like the only option. Dealing with these people became next to impossible. The owner was beyond rude both in person and over the phone. At some point, he was screaming at me over the phone as I tried to sort out the logistics of having the warranted part replaced. The only thing keeping me dealing with them was that towing it somewhere else was too expensive. The worst car repair experience that I have ever had. read more

Stay far away from this place!! I wish I could give negative stars to this business. I was caught in a snow bank on my way home from work during the snow storm on 2/9/17. I called the state police and they said they would send a tow truck out to get me out. The driver (not owner of the business) came and pulled me out. He then put me on the phone with the owner to take care of payment and that's where everything went wrong. The owner, Chuck, was the biggest jerk I've ever met! He started screaming at me because I didn't carry the $160 in cash he wanted for the tow. Banks had just closed and all I had was a credit card. He told me his credit card machine was down and started SCEAMING at me to pay him or else. I told him all I had was a cc and I could bring him cash the next day when that's were better. He tons he he won't trust anyone but after a lot of arguing he agreed to run my cc the next day. He then proceeded to threaten my life and told me he will "hunt me down and come after me" if my cc wouldn't go through in a very threatening tone. I called the next day to make sure everything went through since this creep now has my address. The jerk continued to yell at me after telling me erythjng went through and HUNG UP on me. I proceeded to call the police and file a complaint. The cop agreed he threatened my life and told me he will be investigating the owner. Stay far away from this guy!!!!! read more
