I found them here on Yelp and I obtained 3 quotes for the job. I had the quotes reviewed by an independent contractor who told me L&R's quote was what the job should reasonably cost. I called 4 references who all had a similar and very positive experience. Lawrence always communicated with me about schedule which had not been the case with other contractors. They were there working on my job every day, not showing up once or twice a week like some others. Any fluctuation to schedule or budget was discussed and agreed upon by both parties. We had a couple of unexpected plumbing delays but that was due to the original build not being up to the current code. I changed direction on a couple of design decisions and Lawrence was right there with me. The work was exceptional and the end product is amazing. I have had the nightmare contractor experience so was very cautious. This was exactly as the process should be and I plan to have them back in the fall to do more work. From the first conversations we had with them, we were impressed how they listened to our requirements, then used their expertise to help us fulfill our goals. Lucia has a perfect eye for what works and what would cause problems, and we quickly learned to trust her judgement. She made several recommendations in the design stage that we had not thought of, but that completely revolutionized flow through the kitchen. Her choice on an additional set of cabinets we wished to add actually made the kitchen feel larger than the original layout. Indeed, every set of friends who visited the finished project couldn't believe how we had made the kitchen seem 25% larger without changing the overall footprint of the original kitchen. Andy and his team were fantastic. They were always on time, extremely courteous, and most importantly, ensured they made as little dust and mess as possible. They covered all the furniture, hung plastic in the doorways, and regularly used vacuums and blowers to minimize construction dust getting into the rest of the house. Most importantly, the completed the project in a timely manner, ensuring we had a functioning kitchen for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays--something we had feared we might not. As for the construction itself, we couldn't have been happier. There were simply no "cutting of corners" with this team. They take great pride in their work, and pay particular attention to even the smallest details. Andy is an on-scene supervisor, who regularly stopped in to check on the crew and provide them his expert eye. Denis, his brother-in-law, served as the on-site project manner for our projects and did much of the work himself. He's a genius with electrical, and routinely made adjustments to help ensure the kitchen functioned the way we needed it to. An extremely hard worker, Denis made sure every detail was addressed. If we had questions or concerns during the construction, he listened and then addressed each to our satisfaction--sometime with just an explanation on what comes next, and other times to making changes to the design layout at no extra cost. Finally, adhering to our agreed upon costs was an important reason we were so pleased with their work. Andy and Lucia routinely provided us several options, allowing us to remain in complete control of project costs during the design phase. Unlike many contractors, we were never surprised by escalating costs or unforeseen expenditures. In fact, the project came in under budget thanks to some of Andy's recommendations once the remodeling was underway. We were so pleased with the work they completed on our remodeled kitchen and main hall bathroom that we asked them back to install hardwood floors as we were preparing to sell our house. Not only did they agree to do the job for less than any other bid we received, they also were the only contractor who could complete the project in our tight timeline before we sold the house. Indeed, when we successfully sold our house in less than a day at a higher price than expected, it was clearly evident that we had recouped much of the money we had laid out for the projects. I would highly recommend Andy and Lucia to anyone considering a remodeling project--no matter how large or how small. Indeed, our only regret is that we moved to far away for them to do some work in our new home.

They tore off our old exterior stairs structure and siding, waterproofed the entire wall, and installed new siding and a stairs structure that is far superior to the old one. Their integrity and work quality are off the charts. The owner, Ahmad Khreshi, did thorough research before starting our well-planned project. I was impressed by his knowledge of current construction techniques and dedication to doing the job right. There were several problems that required Ahmad to think outside of the box, one being how to install siding under our existing power lines conduit which was mounted to the exterior wall at six different points. Several times, Ahmad's crew discovered water damage due to poor work by our developer. Ahmad was extremely flexible in adding repair of that damage into his work plan on top of the bid-upon work. Ahmad was kind and fair, listened to our concerns, answered our questions, kept us in the loop, worked with us on timing, and gave us a couple breaks. His crew was extremely professional and respectful, taking off their shoes when they had to come through the building and isolating interior work areas with plastic sheet dividers. When our project was completed, Ahmad send us the following. I've never worked with a contractor who followed up with an offer of help like this: "Remember, you can always reach out with any technical building related questions, in any trades. I'm more than happy to give advice and guidance on code matters or general best practices, even if you are hiring other people."

They painted all trim (not just updated sills) to ensure matching exterior. There was a hitch with the electrical work, but they were patient and worked with us to determine an acceptable solution. They fixed the drywall in the basement (then re-opened and fixed again after the electrical solution was determined). All was completed for the original estimate price. We sought estimates from other contractors but we felt none of them measured up to H&C in terms of their professionalism, customer service, and attention to detail. They have a deep and talented team that was incredibly knowledgeable and responsive to all of our questions no matter how small or complex. Even from the very beginning, before we had finalized a design or signed a contract, Luis and his team's responsiveness and professionalism always made us feel as though we were a valued client. That continued throughout the entire process as we worked with them to develop a design that fit within our budget. Fabio was assigned as our project manager and we couldn't be more thankful for him! He was on top of every last detail and when we had two unforeseen issues come up during demolition, he was quick to provide us a thorough assessment of the issue, several options, and his professional recommendation. I did not have a good experience at all with this company. First, they changed project managers on…read moreme just before they came out to do that work without explanation. When the work started, they moved at a glacier pace with erratic attendance. There were days they did not show up at all, other days they would show up unexpectedly at 7am, and leave at 10am. This was never communicated with me. Next, mistakes started happening. They painted the walls the wrong color. They put up the shower door on the wrong side. They also put up the window blind backwards so I couldn't reach or use the rod to open and close it. After the shower door went up backwards, the project manager fired the workers, but the had no one to finish the work. When they finally came back to fix the shower tiles wrecked when the door went up on the wrong side, they didn't align the replacement tile patterns with each other so the pattern is disjointed and doesn't line up at all. The project manager told me it's not supposed to line up!? After complaining about it 3 times, they finally offered to replace the tiles. But they stalled on ordering them and now it's out of stock. There are also other problems - the shower faucets are not properly secured to the shower walls, the vanity light is separating from the wall and the light switch fixture is also separating from the wall. The floor tile is irregular with grout lines sometimes thick in places, other times nonexistent. Currently, they are not returning my calls or texts. I've even reached out to the owner who came out and promised to fix everything, but commented that I was overly concerned with "small" details. Now he has not returned my calls or texts about when he will come to fix things. Maybe I am concerned with details but I'd think that is common when paying 20k to have a bathroom redone according to an approved plan. At the very least, I expected that shower tile patterns would match up and that things would be well grouted or secured in shower and on walls. This was my first renovation in my first home and I'm so disappointed in how it turned out and how I was treated by the team. Also, this 2 week project took 5 and 1/2 weeks to get to where it is now. Overall the project was done carelessly with no attention to detail and with no acceptance of their mistakes and no attempt to repair the problems identified. I see they have had good reviews in the past, but my project did not go well at all. I would definitely recommend choosing another company. When I first complained they asked me not to write a bad review and I said that along as everything was fixed we had a deal. Nothing has been fixed and they are not communicating with me. I know have to either pay another company more money to fix their mistakes or take legal action to resolve the simple issues that could be easily fixed. If detail and having a project done to your liking is important I would not recommend H&C at all.
