This is one of the better chronic tacos I've been to. I don't know what makes this location so much better than some of the others, maybe its proximity to the beach, maybe because it was one of the older original locations, but this place is just better. The service was quick and friendly, while the ambiance was perfect for its location with the día de los muertos surf theme. The grilled fish tacos remain my go-to. While my mother in law got chicken tacos she loved. The hot sauces were tasty, the red adding some good heat while the green was all the missus could tolerate. The horchata is from the fountain, which isn't the best but will do since it's the only option. Where it loses a star is the explicit lyrics music playing when my 7 year old was with me. I like Too Short but sexually explicit songs is not something that should be played in a taco shop with kids, at least play the radio edit/clean version of the music. I thought this place did a great job on my order. I ordered the California burrito and they made the fries fresh. They loaded up my burrito with enough of everything. It was huge, so worth the price. Local surfer spot in HB. A couple blocks away from Main Street. Home made burritos so be prepped to wait in a line while they make your food. I got egg and steak burrito and the eggs were made in front of me using real eggs (not cart box eggs). Tasty burrito with sauce and toppings too. They do charge extra if you want more than 1 sauce. There used to be an open salsa/sauce bar but not anymore. Look for street parking and walk over- not too bad. You should be able to find parking. read more

Although I'd never previously experienced Chronic Tacos, I'm grateful to finally become familiar with this chain. Based on my single takeout experience, I'd trust this as a solid go-to Mexican food spot: the perfect place to pick up burritos for a beach picnic, or to stash in your cup holder should you get stuck in traffic. I appreciate that they weren't shellfish and didn't skimp on the shrimp in my shrimp burrito. Bonus points for their sensitivity to my allergy needs. If you're dairy-free, you're safe here! They also managed to squeeze fields of veggies and multiple salsas into one tortilla without it crumbling. As much as I admired endless ingredient options and sturdy wrap-construction skills, I do wish they had disclosed that guacamole is an extra $2.50. They mentioned it was extra while we sauntered through the assembly line, but they didn't tell me HOW much extra until I received my fully-foiled burrito at checkout. I hate to pull a Karen (erm, a basic-Chihuahua...), but ay caramba. That said, quality, options, and hopefully reliability/consistency (to be determined) will keep me coming back for more. Hope you're comfortable with street parking because I couldn't find anywhere else to park when I got here. I found the staff can be a hit or miss. The girl working there wasn't very helpful when I told her it was my first time here and asked for recommendations. She just told me to order whatever I wanted and kind of just brushed me off. The other staff member was much nicer when answering my questions. Their style reminded me of Chipotle, where you can order a burrito,bowl, etc. Then you choose your protein and whatever additional topping you want. Guacamole is extra here as well. I got the burrito with chicken and Baja style. It's a lot of food and can definitely be shared. But if you are able to finish the burrito in one sitting, it will probably make you full for the rest of the day. I ordered my food to go. Even though there's a seating area off to the side, I didn't really see anyone stick around to eat, so I didn't either. The food was good and very filling, but it's so similar to Chipotle in terms of style. I don't know if I would make the drive here again, though. read more

Okay so I really like chronic tacos. I come here frequently, the food is solid. Love the tacos and burritos. Breakfast burritos are great. I like that they come with tater tot's too. Nice and crispy. My only real complaint here has nothing to do with the food, but everything to do with the service. Idk why but there's been a handful of times where I come in and the person who's working has such a sh**ty attitude. Like you're bothering them by being there. I work with a lot of restaurants and bars and service is everything. I always ask them how they're doing before giving them my order out of courtesy and what not. But it's annoying when they ignore you and go what are you having. Then sort of begrudgingly throw the bacon in the pan, throw the tortilla on the counter, and act like everything is a chore. I was so close to just being like, you know what man I'm good, I don't want it anymore, your attitude sucks or even, hope you have a better day dude. There's so many people nowadays looking for work and if you really can't stand your job that much then just leave and figure out what you want to do. This has happened multiple times over the past few months and I'm at the point where I'm kind of over it. Expecting a 50/50 chance of bu****it attitude when you're frequently supporting a business is pretty bunk. Anyways, maybe he was having a bad day or something but after multiple times idk that I'll come back. I'd rather give my money to a business that cares about service. But the food... is good. Thats why this is a 3 star review. Maybe just call in your order to limit having to deal with them. UPDATE: I have to give this another star because the company reached out by phone to discuss this basically immediately and was extremely understanding and I can't say how much as a customer that really matters and makes a difference. I've been in there two or three times now. Every time I go in there you get a bowl filled with half rice half beans and very little meat. This time I ordered a double Asada bowl had it delivered paid 20 bucks and I swear to God that entire bowl was not even filled up halfway. It wouldn't even feed a small child and Ethiopia. This place is just a rip off. It's all beans and rice and they don't even fill that up and it's just garbage. They're freaking rip off. People need to look at the value of that food. The menu is very clear, and I love all the different options and "styles" you can order your food. I enjoyed the small breakfast burrito customized with cheese and sour cream, and my partner demolished his asada burrito "gringo style." The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars are because the cleanliness of the restaurant at 2:30pm on a Friday could've been a little better (tables hadn't been wiped down, soda machine was VERY sticky), and that the chips could do with some extra salt. I was sincerely disappointed. First, it's located close to the beach so it has potential for a post-swim meal! The service here was good, extremely helpful. The main issues would be the food and the store itself. My friends and I shared the fries with carne asada. It did not have great flavor, it just didn't seemed seasoned well and somehow it didn't combine well even though they had the right ingredients. I felt bad that I took my friend here tbh. The limes here were also tiny! It was like 1/10th of a lime. When I went to the restroom, TMI but the toilet was literally shifting around. I don't think it was bolted down to the ground or something... Flies were in the restroom trashcan. Flies were also flying around us annoyingly while we were trying to eat. I haven't really encountered flies on the beach or any establishments at the beach, so it was surprising and disgusting to deal with. I think that this location has a lot of improvements to consider. I went to this place while in the area. I am was on a work trip and decided to stop by this place. It's a small restaurant near the beach, but it was in a nice area. The food was good. I had a burrito (don't remember which one, but I know it was good. The person I was with had a taco (forgot which one), but she mentioned that it was good too. The service was professional, the restaurant was clean and the quality of the food was good. The price was ok, but nothing to be mad about. I hardly go out that way, but if you are in the area, go ahead and try it. read more

Also the staff here seem to be a little slow mentally but it's usually not too big of a deal. I guess I'm just curious of the future plans of this company given the fact that they're more of a direct competitor to chipotle versus anything else. Came here for a couple of burritos as it was too hot to run the oven in our apartment. Wife got the Carne Asada burrito and I got the Al Pastor burrito. Both burritos were served Gringo style which includes cheese, pico de gallo and sour cream. Both burritos had burrito blow out, which means the burritos were not rolled right and everything came out the bottom end. Both burritos had extremely small servings of meat, I couldn't taste my Al Pastor in my burrito, just the stuff the fill it with. The servers were friendly and the restaurant was clean but the burritos didn't hit the mark at all. Wife said hers was ok. Also on this visit the soft drink machine was out of order. I was actually disappointed they didn't have the beyond meat option anymore but the guy at checkout said that it was tastier than Beyond and I'd have to agree. Great veggie option, I'm pleasantly surprised and happy that their veggie options don't just sub beans or something.
