First time client and will not go back. When I walked in for my appointment. The staff at the counter was not friendly. They didn't smile or greet me. One of them handed a form for me to fill out saying that they have a policy of charging customers for last minute cancellations. Mind you I was a FIRST time customer and this is the first thing they tell me when I check in?!? I'm like what is this - a doctor's office or salon?? Bailey my stylist was just ok. She had a very light hand and handled the shampoo and my haircut gently. However at the end of my short haircut, I felt that the back needed to be shorter and tapered closer to the scalp. She was reluctant to correct it and said there also wasn't enough time. So when I went to pay I asked her to write down the products she used on me. But she didn't to do that. She also didn't offer another time to fix my hair or schedule a future appointment. She didn't even offer her business card!! The haircut cost $80 and I left a $20 tip. A hundred dollars I wasted on very bad customer service and a mediocre haircut. I should have gone to a Supercuts, paid less than half the price, gotten far better service and a superior haircut! read more

Five stars for Kayla, and three-ish stars for the pricing. Kayla took time to consider what I wanted and explain the possibilities very honestly and clearly. I first met Kayla for a consultation and she provided very helpful knowledge for me to determine my next steps on my hair color journey. At my hair appointment, we started with a discussion of what I wanted and she provided what was possible at the appointment. She gave me a quote which was a bit higher than I was expecting, but their salon menu has so many add-ons that's typically part of a regular service, I just went with it. She took care of my hair and told me everything she was doing, which products she was using, and was very sweet to talk with. Kayla is very knowledgeable and genuine. I wanted to go back to a natural hair color grow out, with some lightened locks and she did just that. I had been seeing Jamie at the Edmonds Chroma location and she was amazing and took my dream blonde! I moved an hour away and tried a new salon to get a blend of my natural brown, let's just say that was my biggest mistake. Instead I got patchy black and blonde streaked hair, not at all what I wanted. I was so upset and by a miracle Chroma had an appointment with Laura at their Lynnwood location the next day! Honestly I went in skeptically but I wasn't expecting a cut this bad. Like I'm embarrassed to go to work. I called to make an appointment last minute so maybe I'm at fault too but the lady doing my cut seemed like she thought she knew what she was doing. First of all, made it super clear how much her cut cost as though I couldn't pay for it or something. Anyways, I went in and asked for long layers, and soft wispy bangs. I literally got a long bob with block bangs. Not a single layer in my hair. She seemed more interested in getting to her next appointment. A woman came and told her mid way through my hair cut that her next appointment was here and from there on she seemed less interested in fixing my hair than anything else. Now I'm too embarrassed to even go out. My hair looks god awful. I was in tears leaving the salon. I thought I'd give it a few hours before i got really upset but it only looks worse the more I look at it. To be quite frank, the reviews for this place are great, which is why I stopped by. I've been to Chroma Lynnwood two times and both times I've had wonderful experiences! My first visit was an only cut and my second visit was a color/bang trim and deep conditioning. I have been in the seattle area for a year now trying different salons and this one by far is my favorite! I had never tried Aveda before coming to Chroma and was surprised by the quality of their products. Once my hair was finished I touched my hair and it has never felt this soft! I also got the opportunity to try their makeup which I was also excited about. Both stylists at the salon were very helpful and nice. Ashlee was very patient with me and helped me really figure out what I wanted as far as color and Amy gave me a cut that would look good while my hair grew out. I was there for a total of 4 hours and she never spoke to me during my visit, but while I was getting my hair done I kept catching her staring my way, and sometimes for a little too long. New to Seattle I finally decided to bite the bullet and try a nearby salon. Big mistake. I got the worst haircut of my life. The shop is shabby. And my hair is now a hacked up mess. Uneven with no style. Every time I asked her to correct something she said "that's the way your hair is." Lame excuse I've never heard from a stylist. I've tried calling to get some resolution but no call back after two days and several calls. I've never experienced such bad customer service from an Aveda salon. The staff are very friendly, professional, and passionate about hair. Go here! I was a walk in on my first visit yet I was treated as if I have been going here for years. Along with my haircut came a scalp and hand massage. My haircut was very good and I walked out with a truly wonderful style. Unfortunately, for my hand massage, I put my wedding ring in my pocket and when I pulled my car keys out as I left, the ring came with it. When I discovered my loss (at home) I called Chroma to see if it had been found. It had not. As I drove back to retrace my steps, Ashlee(?) called to say that she had found the ring in the parking lot near where I had parked! They are not bad overall. They take Covid measures, the salon is clean etc. I and my family had been going there for a year and now I am never going back. I had a balyage experience which I find unsuccessful and when I expressed this and asked for a solution, unfortunately I didn't like the attitude and treatment I received after that. They also increased the price we discussed at the beginning as someone else also mentioned and when I objected, I got the same attitude again. I ended up paying a fortune to a balyage I didn't like. I went into Chroma Aveda after calling and making an appointment and reading all of their great reviews online! I called ahead of time and asked how much it would cost, minding I am a teenager and needed to know if it was in my budget. They told me it would be about $210 with everything I said alright and came in for my appointment. After showing the girl the color that I wanted with reference photos she started. The whole coloring process went fine and we were there about ten minutes after close. When she asked if it looked good I said yes, it wasn't terrible just nothing close to what I wanted and so much more expensive then i imagined also not worth it! If it was what I wanted, maybe i could justify the price. I tipped the girl $40 on top of my bill coming to $250 for extra tones?! I get that maybe I have more hair than average (not that long) but she should have told me! I tipped her $40 for her time considering she had to stay after close. I then went home and checked Instagram (I followed the colorist) and she went and posted about HOW TERRIBLE OF A JOB SHE DID?!? How unprofessional? I would never ever recommend this place to anyone which is sad because it has potential, just needs new workers! read more

Reghan is the best hairstylist I have been to! She knows exactly how I want my hair and is very upfront about costs beforehand. I can show her a picture and she can get me there with no issues. She took me from dark red to blended blonde in TWO sessions, and my hair is still so healthy and soft! I hadn't colored my hair for almost 2 years, and I went to Anna to get a Balayage. It ended up taking her longer than she had anticipated and she never once looked frustrated and was continuously keeping conversation there was never a quiet moment. Amy did an amazing job with my hair! She spent tons of time meticulously working on my color and gave me a beautiful cut. I love how she listened to everything that I wanted and at the end I got exactly what I was hoping for. I love that the chroma salons provide hand massages and there damage repair treatment and conditioner is amazing. Something that I like specifically about a me was that she wasn't too chatty especially when I was feeling really tired that morning, but when we did chat it was very natural and it felt like I've known her for a long time. She was non-judgemental and non-invasive. I would say the only downside was that it was quite pricey but it really was an overhaul on my hair and I completely understand the price point as it was really worth it. But if you don't have a lot of money I would save up to get that really good cut and color from Amy. read more
