As a mom, I noticed "black spots" on his teeth and pointed them out to her during the exam. Afan told me, "It's just normal holes in his baby teeth. They are soft and porous. Don't worry about the holes." I asked for x-rays and was told that they could only be preformed once my son turned 5. Fast forward to today -- I took my 4.5 year old in again just to check the ever growing "normal black spots," only for Afan to tell me she has NO EQUIPMENT to do X-rays. She insisted on referring me to a specialist. I asked her repeatedly to look in my sons mouth to see what she thinks the spots are... Finally after asking her 3 times, she looked and said, "Clearly, they are cavities. That's why I'm referring you." I WAS LIVID!! The spots had been there at the previous appointment (months ago) , pointed out BY ME, and she just blew it off! Now they are bigger! DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!! After her treatment, her hygienist was alarmed at the bone loss on her lower anterior area. You could actually see the roots of her teeth through the thinness of her gums. She ended up needing a gum graft. The prognosis is poor. She had 9 mm of bone loss and has a good chance of losing her lower front teeth. She will need a bone graft and possible implants in her future. I was tempted to send her records of her orthodontic treatment to the American Association of Orthodontics. We realized there is a risk in all medical and dental procedures and did not pursue any action against Dr. Walker. Recently my grand daughter's lower retainer was discovered by another dentist to have been broken. She went back to Dr. Walker and we were shocked that not only did she not replace it, she charged for the repair. Now, one of her teeth is moving forward. Not good for teeth compromised already. My grand daughter has called their office 3 times over the last week. They have never returned her call. What has forced me to take the time to do this review is Dr. Walkers lack of empathy, compassion, communication, care and concern. She never once explained, apologized or inquired about this situation. The periodontist sent her all surgery reports, and photos. She never reached out to my grand daughter to express any care or concern. That was the last time my husband and I ever had anything to do with this office. Additionally, his skills are outdated and his equipment is antiquated. His skill level was discovered by my new dentist that was mortified at the quality of his work that she saw when she examined both my husband and my teeth. We have since found a competent dentist, and are astonished at the difference an actual modern, smart, kind dentist is actually like. It is entirely my fault that this happened to me and my husband. I should have been more diligent, less trusting, and more questioning. I've been seeing Dr. Allison since July and I actually had to see another dentist today because Dr. Allison is not able to put a temporary crown after several attempts without it falling off or breaking. Nor could Dr. Allison visually see that he put a defective crown in my mouth, nor could Dr. Allison see looking at the x-rays that I needed a root canal, nor could Dr. Allison see that the temporary he was putting on was too big and the wrong size. Dr. Allison has taken my money $$$ and has not returned it nor done the job he was hired to do. Dr. Allison has turned a two week job into four months of pain and suffering. I have lost complete confidence in Dr. Allison.
