TLDR; Christy is amazing. She will fight for you, she will listen to you, and she will support you. She is trustworthy and reliable, she gets shit done, and she has your best interest at heart - always. The reason I'm writing this review 6 months after my wedding is the same reason we NEEDED Christy - we aren't the best with task and time management. We started planning our wedding at the absolute last justifiable minute, which was about 5 months out. And like most naively optimistic DIY folks on a budget we didn't think we needed a wedding planner. (We did.) It was surprisingly difficult to find a planner in Dallas who was on board with a gay, vegan, non-religious wedding. Which is why we were so grateful to find Christy. I'll admit that she was a bit out of our price range, but after our initial phone consultation we were so impressed with her experience and work ethic that we knew she was worth the investment. She guided us through a handful of sticky situations. For example, my fiancée and I had a really bad experience with our caterer just two weeks out from our wedding. When I called Christy in tears, I expected her to tell me it would be impossible to find someone else on such short notice. But instead she calmed me down and reassured me that we would find the perfect caterer. She came back with a few recommendations and we ended up going with Two Sisters Catering. To this day I can tell you that it was the best decision we had made. They worked so hard to make sure the food was exactly what we wanted and that all of our guests with allergens were taken care of. Christy saved the day, and our guests couldn't stop raving about the food. I'd also be remiss to not mention the fact that she's an amazing writer and often contributes to Love Wins Texas, an LGBTQ magazine here in Texas. Short review: Hire Christy - she is the best! Long review: John and I are delighted to write this review for Christy Matthews. Christy was our "month of" coordinator and she could not have done a better job. We had our ceremony and reception at the perfect venue for us - The Filter Building at White Rock Lake, Dallas, Texas. The only challenge was that the venue provided the space, tables, and chairs and that was it. We had to find vendors for everything else! In all, we had 14 different vendors - sound, food, photographer, valet, etc. There is no way we could have managed all of this on our own and still enjoy our wedding. Luckily, we didn't have to because of Christy, who managed it all perfectly. About 6 weeks out from our wedding date, Christy met with us for almost 3 three hours to go over every detail of what we wanted and what needed to be done. She handled all of our requests - standard and particular - with aplomb. We had a morning service and a brunch reception. John makes his own juice and we wanted to serve it to our guests. The quantity was too much for him to make and Christy assured him that she could work with the caterer to replicate his recipe. She also didn't bat an eye at my quirky request to make sure the caterers served our guests warm syrup and soft butter. The vendor hand-off a month out was seamless and Christy took care of everything so we did not have to worry. She handled all of the last minute requests and details (e.g. making signs, crafts, etc.) flawlessly. Our ceremony was originally planned to be outside, and as the day approached the weather forecasts were not looking good. Christy was able to draw on her vast experience to advise us on difficult decisions in response to the weather. Most importantly, she came up with a plan B for our ceremony that turned out even better than our plan A! Two days before the wedding we had torrential rain - many of our guests flights were canceled or delayed and we received reports of flooded roads surrounding our venue. Christy didn't hesitate to offer to drive out to our venue after the rehearsal dinner the night before to make sure that the venue would be accessible in the morning. This is but one of many, many examples of Christy going above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and that any fears or concerns we had were assuaged. The best part of working with Christy was her personal and professional approach. She found the perfect balance between executing on our ideas, offering suggestions, and being supportive of us personally when needed it. She was also ready for every emergency. After pictures and before the ceremony, a button on John's jacket came perilously loose. Christy conjured an emergency sewing kit out of thin air and took care of it right away. One of the many treasures from our wedding was an email we received from Christy a couple of days before the ceremony. She knew exactly what to say, at the exact right moment, when she wrote: "No matter what the weather, you will get married on Sunday and brunch will be served (with warm syrup and soft butter and delicious not-too-sweet green juice) and love will win!" She was right! We didn't know we had wanted "a wedding of our dreams" until Christy pulled it all together and helped make it happen, including the juice, syrup and butter! read more

Christy made wedding planning possible, easy as it could be, and fun. She worked with my wife and me long-distance since we live over 3 hours away from our families and the venue. She really made the planning portion so much better by giving us suggestions and tips along the way. Christy regularly gave us updates and reminders that made the process feel manageable. Additionally, as a same-sex couple, my wife and I wanted to work only with vendors that were excited about working with us. Every one of Christy's recommendations was extremely LGBT-friendly and as a result, we were never worried or uncomfortable with any vendors or staff. In the days leading up to the wedding, Christy prepared timelines for different groups of people, coordinated everything, and generally made life easier for everybody. After hearing Christy on her Big Wedding Planning Podcast, my wife (then fiancee) reached out to Christy with a question, and eventually we were lucky enough to enlist her assistance for our wedding. We LOVE Christy! She was terrific and was a critical part in my husband and I pulling off our wedding, which we decided to plan in 2 MONTHS! Ok, to put this all in perspective...here's a little background on what Christy had to deal with when she decided to accept the challenge of working with us! My husband and I were engaged for almost 3 years, but couldn't commit to sitting down and planning an actual wedding. The thought of planning this day was completely overwhelming. We got engaged on November 12, 2013 and shortly after that day we decided we wanted to get married on November 11th, but couldn't commit to which year. One day in early September 2016, realizing we were about to miss yet another Nov 11th, my then fiance and I had the idea to attempt the impossible and plan our wedding in 2 short months! Within 48 hours I had a dress ordered and a date locked down with a venue and a good idea of next steps we had to knock out--but it was very clear that we needed someone to keep us organized, help bring everything together in a polished way, and guide us across the finish line with our sanity! I can't remember if I even made it to a phone "interview" with Christy before I realized she was the perfect person to have on our wedding team! Christy didn't seem to flinch when I told her about the quickly approaching date. In fact, she told me all about how she planned her own wedding quickly and how she enjoyed the type of event we were planning. Before our first call, I gave her glimpse at what I had (and hadn't) accomplished on my long to do list and before even talking to me she sent me an amazing email with tips, tricks, helpful hints as well as contacts to help me keep the momentum with this never ending list of things to do. Off the bat, she was my kind of lady, making it an easy decision for us to enlist Christy's services-- and we are SO glad we did! There were SO many things I never thought of in this process that Christy helped us think through. From helping me tighten up my vision of the dining area in the venue for our sit down dinner and helping me secure linens, thinking through the table design, even down to making sure we had the appropriate type of glasses for our younger guests! When I started planning my wedding, I didn't even know that "month-of" coordinators existed... the venue I chose for my wedding required a "day-of" coordinator (same thing) for parties larger than 100 guests. Thus, my search was on! I liked Christy from the start - easy to talk to, chill, down to earth, but definitely organized and experienced. She knows what she's doing. She handled all the logistics the month of so that I could focus on the fun part of wedding planning! She was sure to coordinate with me on the things she needed to (floorplan, preferences on timeline, etc.) and handled all the stuff I told her I didn't care about. She was always quick to respond to my questions either via email or phone, and was a good ear to bounce things off of given her experience. Christy did month-of coordination for our wedding in Inverness, California in October 2014 and we were so glad she did! We thought we weren't going to hire a coordinator, but as the day drew near, we realized that after so much hard work over the course of a year, we wanted to really be able to enjoy our wedding day. Christy allowed us to do that. She made room for us in her schedule fairly last-minute and made things so much less stressful for us, especially because we were dealing with a fairly difficult/unresponsive venue. The month-of, she really took over as primary point of contact for all of the vendors and made sure final details were in place, freeing up our time just as things got busy with family and friends coming to town. Looking back on it, I can't imagine the day-of without her. She made everything happen and allowed us and our families to enjoy ourselves. She coordinated deliveries and setup, made sure everyone was where they needed to be when they needed to be, and made sure that if there were any problems, they were just taken care of without us even knowing or worrying about it.
