Chris has been cutting members of my family's hair for over 15 years. It's only right that he would be the barber I would choose for my young son. He provides my son with the same respect and camaraderie as his adult clientele. When I decided to do the big chop a few months ago, Chris assured me that my cut would be soft and feminine and I have been nothing but pleased. He even does brows! On a recent visit I was surprised to see a woman getting a dye job from Jeffrey. I thought, a dye job, at a barbershop? It turned out awesome!! They really do it all. New to the area so I was a walk in on a Saturday afternoon. I was greeted professionally by the owner (Chris) and given an estimated wait time that he did not exceed. When it was time for my 7 year old son to get cut, Chris introduced himself and took the time to understand my requests in detail. He asked questions to get an understanding of what I wanted and exceeded my expectations on his cut AND shape up! In addition, he interacted with my son well during his cut and talked to him throughout the process. I'm grateful- we hit the jackpot on the first try! My only complaint is that I feel it's wrong to charge more if someone wants an appointment. I shouldn't have to pay more because I am impatient. I bring my boys here for hair cuts and they just love DJ! He is very personable and tries his best to make his clients happy. Chris & Jeff are great too and clearly are the "main" barbers. Newcomer Ricky (sp?) is good too so honestly there are many barbers to choose from. What I don't like is the wait. To be fair you may want to avoid Fri and Sat which is obviously any barber shops busiest time. Appts are great if waiting is annoying for you but be warned, there is an extra fee. In all, you can't go wrong if you choose Christopher's!!! read more

This was my first time here, and won't be my last. Moc hooked it up, he's got the Asian barber skills and knows how to cut some damn hair! I sat down and without saying a word he already had a scouting report on me. "#2 fade?". "Why yes, I will take a #2 fade." Instantly focused, he busted out the titanium clippers and went Edward Scissorhands on me. 20 minutes later I walked out looking so fresh my wife had a tight grip on me. Found this place after looking around online and reading the great reviews. I had been going on and around post just to get quick and uneven haircuts; you definitely get what you pay for. There were a lot of people in the shop but the atmosphere was comfortable and everyone was talking to each other about the news and everything else under the sun. The wait wasn't long, but you could tell the folks waiting to get a cut weren't in a rush. I think I was the only non-repeat customer in there, but after my experience, I will definitely go back. So normally I wouldn't review a barber unless I'd gotten a haircut. But I have to report the odd experience I had here. Candidly it was the third try Tuesday morning after the Memorial Day holiday. 2 other shops I thought would be open weren't. So I came here on my way to Baltimore for a meeting, based on the great reviews. There were a couple of people waiting but there were 2 or three barbers. But my place in line didn't mean much as guy after guy came in after me but got called up before me. I waited about 45 minutes before I finally left without a cut. But the worst part was that they had Cabin Fever or some such nonsense on the TV. The movie featured fully naked white people having sex, every third work was a variation of F#!%, and one character told the absolute filthiest so called joke about jerking off that I have ever heard. And I was a criminal defense attorney who stood in court with some truly sick puppies. Any self respecting man would have been mortified to have such filth on with a woman in the house. And just as a practical matter they were going really slow because they would stop cutting and look up at regular intervals to watch the movie. Not impressed. I gave two stars out of a sense of fairness. Without nastiness on the screen the atmosphere would have been comfortable. And had I not been made to wait close to an hour inexplicably, the cut might have been fine. But I'll never find out because I'm never going back. read more

This place is as good as it gets when it comes to barber shops! We moved to the area a few months ago and I actually found out about this shop on yelp. I took my 5 year old son to get his hair cut and I immediately loved this place. Sometimes it's awkward for a woman to sit in a barber shop but these guys are extremely professional. They even put cartoons on while the little guys get their hair cuts:) The place is always extremely clean and all of the barbers are friendly. Alright so first off I'll start by saying that going in that I was sceptical about what kind of service I was going to get based off "some" reviews I've read on yelp but I was referred by a coworker of mine and I've always liked his haircuts so when my previous barber was out of town I decided to pay the shop a visit. I don't know whether it was the time of day or the fact that everyone was recharged after the holiday but I absolutely can not find anything worn with the service that I receive. The wait was bearable and the haircut that I received was exactly what I wanted and much more. My barber was attentive and an expert at his craft and for that he will definitely have my business for the foreseeable future and I will definitely take his advice and schedule regular appointments. I took my two young boys (ages 4&3) to Christopher's for a haircut for the first time. This establishment is clean, comfortable and professional. They took the time and care while cutting each boy's hair. Other places we've been to in the past rush through little kid hair cuts, but not here. My little guys were treated with the same care and precision as their adult clientele. To top it off, they changed the channel of the one of the big screen TVs to Sprout while my boys were there (without me asking), which as a Mom, that small gesture was going above and beyond and was greatly appreciated!! I had a terrible experience here with Moc. I decided to try this place out because I heard good things about it and needed to find a new place to get my hair cut. I walked in rather than making an appointment and waited a little over an hour which isn't bad at all considering it was a Friday afternoon. Moc had an opening at that point so I sat down at his chair. I told him I want a low skin fade leading up to a 3 on the sides. On top I want scissors but only a little bit off, just barely enough mainly for blending. I have a pomp style on top so my hair is pretty long and layered with the left side being way longer than the right. Well he didn't give me a skin fade at all and cut off 4 inches on top leaving only about an inch left, completely ruined my hair style. I'm not saying this whole place is terrible because it's my first cut here and only experienced one barber, but you've been warned now before going to Moc. read more

Walked in without appointment, it was packed but I was able to get a chair. The wait was only 5-10 minutes. DJ was available, after I waited a short time, and sat me down. DJ took his time and gave a technically perfect haircut, better than I've previously had anywhere else. His attention to detail was excellent, there were no parts left unfinished. Chris is a true business professional which is why I drive from Laurel to get my haircut at his Elkridge studio. He is dependable, something that's lacking with a number of barbers in the DMV area. Chris and his staff are friendly and have a good rapport with customers. The studio is stylish and welcoming not to mention fresh donuts await anyone who wishes to satisfy a sweet tooth. I want to take time to salute Christopher's Barber Studio for the amazing customer service and talented barbers at their location. I waited until last minute to get my haircut in order to attend my job's Christmas Party. I quickly called around to a couple shops in and around the Columbia area but with not much success. I then called Christopher's and the proprietor told me that he was booked but to come on in and he will make sure I was taken care of. As Christopher was finishing up his customer I realized that time was running away from me so I asked if there was another barber who could cut my hair. He then referred me to Kent. Kent took the time to ask how I wanted to get my haircut and throughout the process he checked in to make sure that he was meeting my expectation. In the end I was extremely satisfied with the end product. I came to the shop for a mere quick fix to meet my Christmas party but I have since become a fan and will spread the word to my relatives, colleagues and church family. This is the place where you are given five star treatment at an affordable price. Thanks Christopher's and maximum respect to my new Master Barber "SIR KENT HARGROVE".
