I had the opportunity to see Dr. Kidd at his Santa Monica location, but he also has appointments in Marina Del Rey. Since I needed an earlier appointment, he was able to see me sooner at the Santa Monica location. First, the staff at the 2020 SM Blvd location was kind and very professional! Dr. Kidd was exceptional, from the time he allowed to hear me, to the detailed explanation of what exactly was broken, to thoroughly reviewing my X-rays and answering my questions. The appointment went so smoothly, and I felt like my injury and recovery were important to Dr. Kidd. Such a great experience considering the circumstances. Dr Kidd, 5 star doctor. I saw Dr Kidd today for a cycst that popped up over an old rolled ankle injury. Fortunately the cyst fixed itself. Cool. Only have to come back if the cyst comes back. Awesome ! See you soon Dr . Kidd (I hope NOT) just kidding you know i love my Cedars Orthos!!! Dr . Kidd has always used the conservative view VS going right to surgery with me and I appreciate that . Have had two toe surgeries that were very successful . I had two unsuccessful surgeries from a LA Care doctor at providence Tarzana in 2018 & 2019 that Dr Kidd fixed . (4) surg, 1 toe over a 3 year period = 9+months of life on my butt. Grrrr! My husband worked out of town when i had surgery so i did it on my own 3rd floor in an apt complex with an elevator that worked 2/7 days a week. even more grrrrrr. Things nobody tells you about foot surgery. 1 Any surgery, invest in a Bregg Ice Machine. It's a portable bucket of ice with a wrap that continuously circulates cold water around your foot or other body part About $350 and worth every penny. it comes with a standard wrap that fits any body part, so don't buy the specific . I did and wasted $60 I basically bought the same wrap that came with it oh well! It works great for any type of surgery . 2. get a dry pro $25-30 cast/wound/waterproof protector to shower in. forget the trash bag & tape. this is a 2 min on 1min off completely waterproof protection . Shower as long and swim if you'd like . 3.cheap extra extra large & stretchy warm socks with the toes portion cut off. Extra large so they fit over your cast/wrap etc . circulation will be interrupted & all that ice is gonna make for a frosty foot. 4. Hurricane $29-40 Great support when you can start putting weight on your foot . Super portable folds and fits in the seat pocket of all major air planes , fits in a longchamps standard large tote or LV neverful MM. Note to people who use those knee scooters .. yes super convenient but they end up messing up your knee hip and lower back if you use them more than one surgical/recovery period. i used mine 4x . Find friends/family who need the scooter . they are bulky and awkward to store so we passed it around a friend circle , or donate it to your PT office and get receipt for a tax write off. 5.Post surgical Pain is hard to control, unless you keep it up constantly and iced . who can keep their foot up 24/7 ? so know it's also a painful recovery until the swelling goes down . throbbing is how i'd explain it . That part doesn't matter who the doctor is, it's gravity & physics . 5. Ortho Wedge. Great for keeping that foot elevated especially at night . You won't roll off a pillow and wake up to a throbbing foot at 2am . Now about Cedars itself ... Love the doctors , Kidd, Zall, Scott, Itamura ROCK STAR DOCS . They treat rock stars .. met Slash (GnR) at one of them .. that was a cool Dr visit . Always had excellent outcomes with all of the doctors mentioned above . The bad - the business side of Cedars Clinics/Hollywood Hospital Appointments . It's super hard to get anyone for appointments that's knows anything . I hate calling a doctors office only to be asked have you seen the doctor before? I'm a memorable patient . Yes, I've seen him in past for two surgeries. You get a crappy call center most of the times. leaving messages is hit or miss . I've left them on the cedars app though and gotten response there . Another tip.. get to know and love your doctors staff and assistant , then you'll have a direct line to call for appointments . Sometimes I see two docs same day when they are both in MDR. The two assistants will help me coordinate - they work it out and give me the date. I bring something wonderful that I baked for them and everyone is happy. (dr kidd bakes.. ask him for a recipe!) Hospital in Hollywood sucks. parking blows super expensive and unless you get there at like 2/3am getting any decent parking after 5am forget about it! .Once inside is a flipping maze. I've gotten lost in there looking for my husband in the cardiac dept more than once . The staff are not friendly when you ask for directions. Their cardiac unit that were in only had drapes between the patients , not a real room , this happened to my husband a few times , appears hospital is out of room so they make smaller rooms . They also only allow one visitor at a time, and getting a chair to sit on .. forget about that too. It became such a hassle , we switched all of my husbands doctors to providence St. john's SM. The hospital Billing Dept also sucks and they owe me thousands for care they billed and i paid out of pocket for before my medicare case was settled . That's not the doctors fault . they have refused to re-bill my services to medicare and the secondary insurance Inhad at the time . thousands of dollars from 2018-2021 read more

Dr. Kidd is the best doctor that I've seen! I'm a lifelong runner and have experienced everything from shin splints to ankle injuries. He has a very welcoming approach to his medical practice. I felt cared for like a family member and the experience didn't feel clinical. He asks a lot of great questions and truly knows how to listen to the patient. His holistic approach to my health makes me trust him and want to refer him to others. He also works with a strong team. I enjoyed the overall vibe of his office. short version: 6 hours before my scheduled appointment, the doctor canceled because he was "uncomfortable seeing me." didnt realize that doctors can prioritize their level of comfort over a patient's discomfort. Longer version: I scheduled a visit for ankle pain...with a foot and ankle specialist. I waited three weeks. I'm a professional dancer and the previous surgeon told me there's nothing more he can do and literally invited me consider second opinions. On the Friday before my 8am Monday appointment, I got a call explaining that the visit (again, the one I had been waiting three weeks to have) was to be cancelled. I called to inquire. The explanation I was provided was that "the doctor feels uncomfortable seeing you for a second opinion." I pressed for my detail and the receptionist relented saying that she needed to see a surgical report. I emailed it immediately and have yet to hear back. She assured me that when the doctor declined to visit me (again because he's uncomfortable), he would recommend other specialists. I repeat, I do not know why he's u comfortable seeing a person with ankle pain. Kind of seems like his speciality. And if it isn't him, then the receptionist needs additional training to understand how to better explain why I'm being targeted. Back to the beginning to find a different ankle specialist...hopefully one who isn't as arbitrarily sensative as Dr Kidd. read more

I met Dr. Kidd looking for a surgeon to repair my achiles tendon and he delivered , he goes above and beyond expectations really making sure you understand the process and are always just a call away . Dr Kidd has caused what now appears after 7+ months post-op to be permanent damage after he botched ankle surgery repair of a previous injury. My ankle is considerably worse after 7+ months post surgery and 6 months of rigorous therapy than it was before. I have significant more pain and significantly less function than pre-surgery. The last time I went to see him he suggested I see another surgeon. I felt passed off and like he could care less. He was great pre-surgery assuring me (selling?) that he could fix my ankle. But post surgery he is virtually impossible to reach. It was apparent almost immediately that there was a problem but countless calls and texts went unanswered. When I'd finally get in to see him for a scheduled appointment he blamed his office staff for not conveying the messages. This went on for months: them insisting that he got the messages; him saying they never got to him. Even his wonderful PA quit because of the broken communication in the office. This has been an absolute nightmare. I recommend you find a different surgeon at a different center. read more

His office staff can be slow to respond, but my appointments have always happened with 30 minutes of the scheduled time and never felt rushed. read more

I just saw Dr. Kidd and want to say this is one of the best doctor's and medical experiences I have had - shared with Dr. Sull and Dr. Polakof who are in the same office. I have been a patient at UCLA since 2022 and the providers there don't even look at you. Dr. Kidd did xrays before the exam, came into the room prepared to have a conversation. He asked me to explain what happened and what I feel now. He said what I shared aligned with the xrays. He created a noninvasive and supportive care plan that I trust. His medical support Shannon could not have been lovelier or more helpful. Alvin who did the xrays was kind and empathetic to the pain I was experience. Brook at the front desk was very welcoming at check in and helpful in pointing me to the next steps for PT care and follow up visits. I can't recommend Dr. Kidd or his colleagues enough. I was terrified to see an ortho or any pain management specialist, because of bad experiences at UCLA where they immediately jump to surgery. Bring a book to your appt because the doc will keep you waiting at least an hour before he gets around to examining you. Once he does, be prepared to hear a litany of reasons why surgery is your best bet. Judging from some of the other reviews I've read, that would clearly not be a good wager. All of this presupposes you can get in to see Dr. Kidd , what with his nitwit schedulers who don't answer the phones and don't return calls. Best advice is to keep looking outside of this clown show of a medical office. This place is a joke. read more
