Nice pool and mattress, but: smelly room, smelly hallway, crummy breakfast, unfriendly help. wife and I now loaded with bedbugs.

This older hotel has been updated. The furnishings are alright. The sitting chair cushion had mystery stains on it & wasn't used. The desk & chair were good other than the infestation of black ants. The sideboard cabinet is almost too big for the room so mind your toes. My biggest complaint is the bathroom. The toilet was installed about 3inches from the wall making the door difficult to close. There are wear marks from it rubbing against the toilet. I hope this hotel staff knows better to not give this room to an elderly person. My other issue was the night staff was not readily available at the desk. I waited for a few minutes, called out & didn't get a response. Had to make a phone call to the front desk to find someone to re-instate the room key. Lastly, our room rate was secured thru a relative who knows the GM. Upon check in, I was told a higher room rate and inquired. The front desk person said that it was the 'friends/family rate. I did let that person know I was quoted another price. Also, if you're not an early riser, do not get a room on the even sided numbers, the sun instantly beams thru the top of curtains. Also it's the parking lot side so it can be very loud. I did end up getting some bed bites as well.

This is our second time staying here. Great place for a "off name" hotel. Very clean, smells fresh, great deals online. We used the pool and hot tub, very nice. This morning's continental breakfast included: eggs, sausage, French toast strips, waffle maker, cereal, fresh fruit, sausage gravy, buttermilk biscuits, blueberry bagels, donuts, blueberry muffins, cinnamon muffins, yogurt, coffee, variety of teas and juices.

Older looking hotel but the beds are soft, waters hot and they have a great breakfast. Way better stay than the larger fancy hotels.

Good amenities, clean rooms, friendly staff at the front desk, and breakfast was very good with lots of options. Fairly priced rates.

Three stars is about right. Check them out on the bed-bug registry. They don't have any, and the surrounding hotels do.

I requested a refund for my recent reservation at the Holiday Inn Express here in Chillicothe Ohio…read morefor March 13th through 15th, which I booked through Expedia. My family and I booked the room specifically so our children could enjoy the pool over the weekend. We are local, so the pool was the only reason for our stay. When we arrived, the front desk staff completed the check-in process and only afterward informed us that the pool was closed. Had we been told this before checking in, we would not have proceeded with the reservation at all. Because the pool was unavailable, we stayed in the room for less than an hour while trying to resolve the issue. The front desk told us they could not cancel since the booking was through Expedia, so we contacted Expedia directly. Expedia reached out to the hotel, but the hotel declined to issue a refund even though we did not stay and primary amenity we booked for was unavailable. Charging nearly $300 for a stay we could not use is unfair, especially when the lack of disclosure prevented us from making an informed decision. We would have never checked in had we been told the pool was closed. I have stay at this hotel many of times and have never had issue this time however was different. The pool was the reason i left however, i was upset already because when we arrived she said there was a 250 deposit which I have never had to pay all the other time we stayed and she was going to cancel then and I said no ill figure it out however if she would have informed me the pool was close before checking us in I would have let her canceled. The woman wasnt friendly either. I was also informed they are under new management. Explains why it is going downhill.

This is my least favorite B&B ever, over 30 years and 4 countries. I received an email the day…read morebefore arriving asking for our estimated time of arrival. This with a check in window between 4pm and 6pm. We wanted to just toodle along and make it within that window but felt pressured to be more exact. When we arrived I asked when breakfast was served and was told 9 am. Period. No window this time, no asking what time would be best for us, just 9am. Admittedly we did not push back. Our host didn't ask if we had any food allergies nor were we given any choices whatsoever. We stayed in the Presidents room, comfortable bed, nice linens, very tiny shower with nowhere to even lay a washcloth. We heard traffic all night even with white noise on our phone. sigh A Keurig is available if you want coffee in the morning before 9am but Maxwell House only. sigh Breakfast was what appeared to be brewed coffee but was probably Maxwell House again, (no tea offered), mixed berries in cream, French toast with real maple syrup, link sausages (which I don't eat) orange juice(which I don't drink). The host proceeded to sit on a sofa in the breakfast nook and we felt we needed to strike up a conversation with him. This wouldn't have been quite so odd if he had ever introduced himself. sigh I wouldn't mind if this didn't cost us $228 for one night, a Thursday night. There are other choices in the area. My suggestion would be to try another B&B or a hotel.

The Atwood House and its proprietor Bill Hirsch offer accommodations that are unique and surprisingly affordable. The impressive historical brick home marries Greek Revival and Victorian architecture in a seamless and elegant fashion. The rooms are themed and welll appointed true to the personality they are meant to portray. The breakfasts are homemade with locally sourced ingredients and presented in a manner rivaling a 5-star hotel. But the best feature of this establishment is the owner, Bill who has a wealth of knowledge about the area that cannot be done justice in this review. I encourage a trip to Chillicothe and the Atwood House. You will leave with an indelible experience you will never forget.
