Unprofessional and lacks care and empathy. Dr. Bonancci has anger issues and is rude to his patients and employees. He displays poor bedside manner and uses vulgar language in front of the patients. He overcharges for his work, and could be more polite & kind to others. I've reported him to the medical board of Virginia, and would encourage any other patients with bad experiences to do the same. We don't have to allow him to continue to take advantage of innocent hard working people's money that they work hard for. The negative reviews on Google are deleted or removed by Dr Bonancci so all the good reviews are only displayed which is very misleading to the public, another display of his abuse. I have nothing but good to say about my recent experience with Dr. Bonacci. He was referred by my usual general dentist when I needed oral surgery to remove my wisdom teeth. First, there was a consultation. Dr. B drew on the X-ray and explained to me just how each tooth was situated and how he would go about extracting it. He explained what the process before, during and after should be like, and he made me aware of potential issues and how he would address them along the way if needed. Additionally, I must say that Dr. B's staff is very courteous and encouraging even throughout the whole process. Especially this one brunette nurse (I am not entirely certain if that is her title, given I'm not a dentistry professional, she could be a hygienist I guess) who is so super upbeat and nice (but not in the annoying way at all). Loved her. Second, came the actual day of the surgery. I underwent general anesthesia, so not just numbing, not the gas and not the IV, but I believe just a shot in my arm (I was actually kind of looking away from it there at the end). They also numbed my mouth, but I guess that was after the anesthesia put me in la-la land. I could sort of sense people around me, hear VERY muffled talking and feel people touch around my head, but really nothing at all inside or around my mouth. The whole thing felt very strange and like it was over in five minutes. It was actually 20 minutes. I felt zero, I truly mean zero, pain. After a brief stay in the recovery area to get my bearings, I was on my way! The day of the surgery, I took two Vicodin and some Motrin (and of course the antibiotics that were also prescribed, all of which I received on the consultation day). I followed the post-op procedures as recommended by Dr. B, and everything went fine. Even day two was not so bad. Day three was the worst. Aching pain in my jaws and all over. I hadn't had Vicodin since the first day, and I actually didn't end up using it again. Just took more Motrin and it began to fade. Every day beginning with Day 4 and onward was a noticeable better day. Finally, seven days after the surgery, I returned to Dr. B's office for a followup. I sat in the waiting room longer than the followup actually took. He looked in my mouth and said all was healing nicely and showed me how to irrigate the sockets with warm salt water and a syringe. Then, I was out of there! I really liked Dr. B and his staff. The entire process was well set up, explained entirely to me and didn't cause me much pain or downtime at all. I hope I never have to see him again, but if I do, I know I'll be in good hands. read more

There are 26 highly rated oral surgeons within a 20 miles radius of this office, so I decided to give this place a shot first out of loyalty from my first experience a couple years earlier. I was initially quoted by a staff member that the MOST I would expect to pay in the worst case scenario was about $600 this was inline with what I was quoted from 3 other places, so I went without hesitation. I guess I experienced the doomsday scenario because I paid nearly $850. How does that extra $250 out of my pocket feel right after a 12 minute grueling surgery while my face is still swelling? Like a punch in the dick. Alas, I still paid it with the naive assurance that my insurance would reimburse some of this. When I tried to understand this with their only billing person on staff, she got quite short with me like she has better things to do than field a call from a past customer that already paid. I tried my best to not get pissed off, but before I was about to curse my ass off, I just hung up on her. For nearly 8 weeks I waited for SOME insurance reimbursement only to find out that I won't get a penny back because this place is out of network. The entire time I keep calling in and they assure me I will either get reimbursed by my provider or by them, today I learn neither was true. Am I pissed? Hell yes. Needless to say, I do NOT recommend this place based on this misleading clusterfuck they call a billing practice. Please also see Lynn R.'s review because I completely commiserate with your pain. So I have to get a lot of work done that will require dental implants. Dr Bonacci was recommended by my dentist, Dr Dang, who is rock star awesome.. The guy is clearly a millionaire thanks to all of the money he's racking in with his highly sought after skills. He has that cocky way about him but he still manages to pull off quite a pleasant demeanor and has done good work for me. Only problem I have is I am accustomed to a dentist that talks you through the procedure... this guy just does the work and you don't know what the hell is going on and you cannot talk because well there's a blade or a drill in your mouth... urgh. So 3 stars... But the office staff is so awesome that I had to give the practice 4 stars. Every time that I am in there I feel so welcomed and they are all so personable, Dr B knows how to pick a good group of people to work with. I am currently on a 5 month hiatus from his services (hey I told you a lot of work) but he will get the 5th star if it all turns out as it should. read more

My experience with Dr. Christopher Bonacci was a positive one. He was very knowledgeable and confident with his consultation. Although, he also did not come across as a know-it-all. My son had a very unusual blockage of one of his baby teeth, not allowing it to come in. Although we had many scratched head and different opinions, the final decision was to cut the gum to see what the blockage was. Dr. Bonacci's friendly demeanor put me right at ease and his staff was very friendly with my son. While every other doctor we saw wanted to sedate my 18 month old, Dr. Bonacci was willing to perform the procedure with just a local anesthetic. Within minuets, my son was his normal happy self and the incision healed quickly. Dr. Bonacci does require full payment up front. They will submit to your insurance, but no guarantee that you will get reimbursed. I paid the $1033 because he wasn't in my insurance plan. But, I was just happy to find someone who wasn't to terrified or stumped to help out my little guy. We have to take him back in for a full extraction of the baby tooth soon, and I'm completely bummed that I need to look for someone in our plan. read more

I can see why all the reviews are not recent. No one comes back. Recently has a family member visit and later got a $400 plus out of pocket bill after insurance was used for consultation. Waited few hours asked about the consultations was straight forward until I got the bill. All they did was talk few X rays, gave me a CD, and consulted. I went to another dentist who did more plus what they said was need for less and consultation was free. I understand dentist have cost but laying and manipulating is not a good practice for business. Think twice... I don't know about his work, perhaps it's good, but I wouldn't even give this guy a chance. First reason, he's obnoxious and full of himself, touting himself as the best. He also insulted a previous oral surgeon of mine, calling his job "candy ass" when he never met the guy, nor did he ever bother to evaluate the work he did. By the way, the work was excellent! I've never a problem in 20 years, with every dentist who saw the X-Rays saying it was a beautiful job. Second reason - he's EXPENSIVE charging $190 for a 10 minute consultation, and not accepting insurance rates. You have to pay up front, and take whatever your insurance company gives you. He may be a very good oral surgeon, but you have to get past these two items to find out. I also did notice that my thoughts were repeated throughout the reviews. read more

Do not go to this dentist! He over charges and is extremely arrogant when confronted. I was just re-reading an email exchange between me and Dr Bonacci from 2009, when he spent 2 minutes looking at my mouth and then decided to bill me for a full comprehensive exam. Dishonest!! He then proceeds to tell me how he isn't charging me his hourly rate of $500/hr for responding to my email. I didn't realize there was a charge for customer service? He is totally unprofessional and overcharges his patients. I guess that's how he makes his money that he likes to brag about in his emails. To be fair, he was pleasant when he spent a full 2 minutes for a consultation. As soon as I confronted him via email about the charge for services that were never delivered, he turned nasty. Just came here to get my wisdom teeth pulled with Dr. Kim--everyone at the office was extremely helpful and knowledgable. I got an infection before my appointment and when I called the office, Dr. Kim took the time to personally come to the phone and help me out. He was great! I was completely unprepared at the consultation (ex: forgot my insurance card!), and then had to call the office numerous times before the surgery and he was great every time, never making me feel silly or that my calls were unjustified. Our 17 y.o. daughter had her wisdom teeth and a paramolar removed by Dr. Bonacci. The procedure was performed a week ago, and everything went great! I was impressed at how well the procedure went and how quickly she has been healing. Especially with the paramolar, it was very interesting how he and his staff were able to image it and determine its exact location for removal as it had not yet broken through the gum. Dr. Bonacci is great, and the staff is professional and excellent. As a dad who had his wisdom teeth removed more than a few years ago, my daughter's experience was a far better and more positive experience from surgery through recovery. I just had my wisdom teeth taken out from Dr Bonacci not too long ago. I must say the experience was very pleasant. I was able to get an appointment promptly and Bonacci went through all the different options I had for taking them out. I declined general anesthesia and just went with local as I don't like being put under for anything. With the local anesthesia I didn't feel a thing and everything was nice and went better than expected. He also took me through how to manage post-op too. I was really worried that it was something serious (after looking on the Internet at so many different things it could or could not be which was not a good idea--just made me more paranoid). I had the perfect experience getting all four of my wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Bonacci and his team. I'm a 21 year old girl and was a little nervous about the procedure, but at the consultation Dr. Bonacci was very relaxed and informative, which made me feel instantly feel ten times better. Plus, his assistant (I don't remember her name :/) is absolutely adorable...on each of my three visits she remembered my name, made me feel at ease and answered all of my paranoid questions. The procedure was a breeze: they explained everything about the actual surgery and post-op to my mom and I multiple times, and made me feel totally relaxed before they knocked me out. I woke up in a comfy chair and got to go home a little while later - the whole thing took less than an hour. Although I'm not sure this is typical, I experienced absolutely no swelling. My jaw was achy for about a week afterwards but every time I could feel the pain I took the prescriptions they gave me and it was fine. I went back for the post-op evaluation yesterday and they said everything had healed up perfectly and I was good to go. I 100% recommend Dr. Bonacci and his team for anyone who needs to have their wisdom teeth removed..the whole experience was way easier than I could have imagined. read more

Talk about disappointing. We made an appointment for a consultation and were shocked by the amount of the fee for the 10 minute consult. I understand the need for a fee but advance notice when you make the appointment would be the right thing to do. I was expecting something in the nature of $35 to $75 dollars not $190. Let me tell you a little something about Dr. Bonacci. I was in his office one day waiting for my scheduled appointment and a solicitor happened to come by. My expectation was that the solicitor would be shooed away by the receptionists but that didn't happen. Instead, Dr. Bonacci personally came out to the waiting area, listened to what the solicitor had to say, and politely declined the service (providing a good reason). I was surprised and touched by this exchange. It showed me that Dr. Bonacci really cares about people, but that's not why I highly recommend him. I recently had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Bonacci. The surgery was both quick and effective, with the actual procedure taking no longer than 25 minutes. Additionally, in the days following the operation, my pain was virtually nonexistent. I was back to eating a regular diet by the morning after the operation, which is a condition I have not seen in any other post-operational period than the periods about the patients of Dr. Bonacci. Furthermore, the staff of the office was extremely kind and professional, with the Secretaries at the front desk being helpful, and informative, about how to claim insurance and fill prescriptions. If I could give 0 stars I would!!!!!!!!! I went to this office to get a consult for possible surgery per my dentists request. Upon arrival I waited 30 minutes before being helped. Staff was unhelpful and not polite. When told I would need X-rays even though I brought my own from previous work I informed them unless it was covered I was not interested in proceeding. The paperwork states you need to know your insurance but I was for sure told I had one covered. Fast forward 2 months when they pleasantly billed me over 1200 for the 5 minutes of a consult. When calling you deal with rude people who don't believe in helping you understand the situation. Regardless of how much of an artist these doctors may be ! They overcharge, are rude, unhelpful and are a key example of an office not acclimated to the changing culture of insurance and healthcare. In December I had needed to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out. I originally scheduled the appt with my "in-network" doctor over the phone, and they were not organized at all - which made me quite apprehensive about having the surgery done there. Then, I decided to call Dr.Bonacci's office and spoke with Donna who was very reassuring about the care I would receive at Dr.Bonacci's and very knowledgable about the entire process I would go through. Dr.Bonacci was great during my consultation appointment, and the procedure went quite smoothly. He even called me on my cell phone later that night to see how I was making out. None of my friends could believe I had gotten all 4 of my wisdom teeth out, because the next day I was back to all my normal activities, and had no facial swelling. I did have to pay a bit more for the surgery because they were not a "participating provider" with my insurance company, but after all was said and done, if I had to do it again I would've paid even more to have the surgery done at Dr.Bonacci's, because of the great staff, great doctor, and flawless procedure.
