This trip we were on the hunt for decently priced patio cushions. And as you can see I found some nice ones. Also grabbed some sweet chili Seasoned Pistachio brand Pistachios grab a bag.....the more you eat the Spicer they get. This is also a great place for seasonal swag.....Easter Bunny, St Patrick's Day, Christmas etc. You'll find cutely decorated plates and platters for your baked goods. I love shopping here because I can always find something unique for myself or as a gift for others, often at a great price. Today we wandered in after casting our vote for the midterm elections. For the bargain hunters, fall & Halloween items are 40-50% off. We saw some bargain bins near the entrance with dish towels & other items priced below $1. It's hard to find anything for less than a dollar these days! We picked up a flower pot as there are plenty to choose from on the sidewalk. Ice melt & fire logs are there as well. CTS is stocked up for Christmas and has Christmas music playing already. It's so festive in the store. They have an unbelievable amount of variety & inventory. If you can't find it here, it may not exist! LoL We spent the majority of our time in the Christmas themed areas looking at home decor, wrapping paper, gift bags, etc... We strolled through the toy section too. Lots of fun stuff for all ages. The employees provide great customer service & are always nice. The checkout line moves pretty quickly so don't worry about the full parking lot! They have plenty of items in stock right now. It's never a bad idea to shop early! If you need dinnerware or serving ware, they've got you covered with both seasonal & daily use patterns. They have a selection of food items that you won't see elsewhere. Always love coming here because we have learned to stay away in the 6 weeks before Christmas. Hence, it's always a fun experience. Super entertaining to walk through the aisles and behold all kinds of eclectic stuff. We were here today and they were overflowing with Fall decorations and a tractor trailer load of Halloween decor. They have a pretty decent food section inexpensively priced. We found some good values on coffee K Cups today. Also bought some nice gift wrap and a big bag of pretzels for a song. Store was kind of empty today, which was fairly unusual. We always walk out with a cart full of stuff, always a good value for the money. The store has its niche for sure. read more

I have had to avoid going to Xmas tree shop this year because I can never leave here without spending less than $100. Literally. They have the best snacks here and the cutest decor and napkins. Since I'm from the Midwest and there isn't Xmas tree shop by my parents, my mom always has me pick her up napkins here. I LOVE their after Xmas sale yearly too, I always find the best deals on everything. Their coffee selection is pretty legit too, I've never been disappointed. Oh Christmas Tree Shop, I take back all the mean things I said about you! In fact, I'll even add a star. I've let go of my grudge against this store around the holidays... summer is my favorite time to shop here. I've picked up so much fun decor for my patio at really awesome prices. Outdoor pillows, citronella candles, ceramic flower pots, strands of globe lights - all for $35. It seriously can't be beat and the quality is perfectly fine for a season or two. I also get cheap things here like wine glasses and champagne flutes ($2 each) as well as curtains (recently got some sheer chevron patterned panels for $7.99 each, which is perf because my cats are going to scratch the crap out of them anyway). I've never had a problem with the staff being anything less than friendly, it's just that the customers here are often pushy and strange. But whatever - I'll keep my distance once December rolls around and enjoy shopping here for odds and ends the rest of the year. Well if your in a pinch and need to find some random chit...hit The Christmas Tree Shop. Like previous Yelpers have mentioned...the layout makes no sense at all....I found myself stumbling through this place. I guess that is the goal...the more you stumble through, the more crap you put in your basket. I mean do I really need another garden glow lamp or wicker basket? The aisles are tight with all the crap they pack in there and it's hand to hand combat to maneuver through this place. I'm no match for the seasoned Christmas Tree Shoppers. I guess I would give it another shot..mid week..early hours if I needed some of that random crap. Other than that I'm more than happy to pay extra so I don't have to experience that knife fight shopping experience. read more

For the longest time I thought Christmas Tree Shop was some magical place for all things Christmas.. Well some time ago, I finally decided to poke around. And not only was I wrong, but I have also concluded that you can easily spend $50 on crap you probably don't need. But with that said- if you have the time to visit at odd hours, or specifically when no one else goes shopping, AND have the time to really look around (everything is so oddly laid out) you could walk away with some potentially useful things. There's all sorts of "junk" scattered about that you easily get lost trying to comb through it all. There's simply no method to the madness and I usually have to ask for help. I also have absolutely no idea where anything could possibly be, and would rather not waste time on a scavenger hunt. I tend to go for travel-sized items, and random furniture pieces and housewares. They always have some sort of seasonal holiday knick-knack. Anything you could possibly need to decorate or furnish your living space is readily available, somewhere... Avoid the holiday seasons, at all costs. It can be a madhouse. Otherwise if you're trying to save a buck on some things, Christmas Tree Shop inevitably has it tucked away in the organized chaos that they call a retail store. read more

I don't write reviews for too many chain businesses, unless I absolutely love them or am absolutely annoyed with them. My mother was visiting from out of town a few weeks back. She loves to Christmas Tree Shops, and they don't exist in the Philadelphia area, so I took her to one. Although the Orange CTS location is a tad bit closer, we were on our way to see something in Massachusetts as well, so I went to the Manchester location. We got there, and it was just like every other CTS. Huge, lots of inexpensive stuff for your home. Fabulous, right? Well, when I got to the checkout, the lady rang up my items, I paid, and then told her "Oh, I don't need a bag, I've got a reusable cloth bag with me." And the lady refused to let me take my items, unless I put them in one of her plastic store bags. She said it was "store policy," and that unless I wanted her to stick a "paid" sticker on every single one of my items (I had about 20 small items), I'd have to take a plastic bag. She said the reasoning was so that they'd know I paid for the items I was carrying out. Fair enough, but isn't that the reason they give you a receipt? If someone seriously wanted to stop me on my way out, I could show them my receipt to verify I paid for the items in my CLOTH bag. In the end, I spoke to the manager, and he let me go "just this once" with a cloth bag. I am not one to quibble and complain over stuff like that, but are you kidding me? I wouldn't go back to this location again. read more

People shop here? Seriously? Apparently, working for the company I do has created a retail snob in me. I just don't get it. Sure, the prices are cheap, but have you ever heard the expression, "you get what you pay for?" Well, you get that here. Super cheap Keurig brewer? Yep, it's refurbished. Super cheap outdoor furniture? Yep, it's very thin extruded aluminum that will bend easily and fly away in a wind storm. Super cheap CDs? Yep, compilation CDs of pieces in the public domain. Get the idea? It's a pile of elcheapo crap that isn't going to last. A friend begged me to go in a grab a plastic cover for a picnic table today. I did so because she's wonderful to me. But grabbing that plastic table cover took an hour of my time as I couldn't find it amongst all the other crap...and there was not one associate available to answer questions...until I got to the register. And the check out clerk's response was "I'm not sure...go over to the back and take a look." Oh, okay...you don't know... If you like this sort of thing, I'll pray for you. Maybe I'm nuts to even bother trying to shop at CTS but sometimes, you gotta follow your muse and this year mine goes by the name "CHEAP". if they have what you're looking for, CTS's can have the best price around...but... BE A ZEN SHOPPER: I have to warn you to think carefully. Use your yoga deep breathing techniques at all times. Surrender. Because you can lose your mind with shopping fever as you are engulfed by all the cheap stuff, stacked everywhere. Your inner American consumer will whisper: ooooo so glittery, so shiny! it's pretty! and it's only $4.99! yesssssss! You spot an item. your mind is racing fast, there are many bodies crowded around and you're hot and the music is loud and in the moment the price seems reasonable, you don't want to lose it so you buy, get home and slap yourself silly remembering you saw the same thing for half the price at one of the other discount stores. Then, remembering how small the return area is and the long lines of miserable people you know you will not go back and endure that hell. Besides, it wasn't THAT much more, was it? . So it's paramount to be a calm controlled shopper and surrender to the insane energy of CTS. Then get your booty and get the hell out. .....unless your thing is a mess of Chinese interpretations of every conceivable accessory or geegaw with a holiday theme. Then have at it! Dive in and take no prisoners. Buy those garish rhinestone encrusted candles! Snag that weird angel that does not look quite right! CTS is Mecca for holiday "stuff:. They may be the prime reason Halloween isn't a simple " buy a bag of candy" holiday anymore. LIFE SAVING ADVICE HERE: right off the bat you must SEEK AND FIND the fire exits and imprint their location in your mind before you do anything, because if there were ever a fire or an emergency that blacked out the lights, everyone in that store would be toast.. The aisles and stacks are cleverly arranged to divert you every few feet. There isn't an unobstructed path front to back or side to side. CTS is a labyrinth.. Plus this store is filled with Chinese made petrol based cheap junk, so it's a floor to ceiling recipe for disaster. You go in and you are funneled by the crowds to the back because the aisles are so narrow and slanted you can't turn your cart around. By the time you're at the back, you are aware that turning back is impossible unless you work your way towards the other side and follow the milling crowds to the checkout areas. If heaven forbid you're in one of those odd middle aisles, well....good luck. SHOVE IT IN YOUR CART AND MOVE ALONG: if you're shopping for something specific and you happen to find a close second but you're not sure it's what you want, shove it in your cart anyway 1. because you don't have to buy it and 2. you may not find it again ever. PRICES ARE TRICKY: they have good prices on certain items like refurb name brands appliances and Pfaltzgraft (skip the brands you've never heard of, especially the heat generating ones). However check out the sheets, blankets, curtains and other mill items and the low cost furniture. Truthfully the quality is not stellar, however there ARE bargains but you have to take the time to look. LAST WORDS: Be shrewd, careful and fast. If you must make the trip - try to go early in the day when the crowds haven't arrived, especially during Christmas season when it's likely to be wall to wall crazy crowded and shoppers are a little intense. At that time of year DO NOT GO ON SATURDAY OR SUNDAY unless you're a shopping samurai warrior. If you're a little claustrophobic, don't even look at the circular. It will only tempt you to your doom. I have long been a fan of Christmas Tree Shops, ever since I was a little girl and my parents would bring us all to the one on Cape Cod. Where else can you get cheese puffs, nail polish and soda for super cheap?! Now that I am an adult my needs have certainly changed but Christmas Tree still has everything I need. This particular location, is really well stocked and even has a whole Harmon Drug section where you can get every type of beauty product you could imagine, super affordably! What I love about this place even more, is their housewares section. Obviously, it's a little hit or miss because the inventory is constantly changing but I was able to find an oversized canvas painting for around $30. I had planned on ordering an identical one off of a housewares site that was priced at $140!! Hells yes! Also check out office/school supplies and gift wrapping supplies. Most gift bags are around a buck and very pretty! I always stock up during off seasons so that I am all set for any holiday or birthday that pops up. This place is not just for the Christmas season, it's truly a good place to stock up on miscellaneous items year-round. read more

When I was still a Northeast newbie in my second year of living in Connecticut, one of my friends told me that, as a budget shopper, I would really appreciate two stores: ShopRite and the Christmas Tree Shops. She was right on target with ShopRite. She couldn't have been more wrong about the Christmas Tree Shops. I read a number of Yelp reviews that refer to the items sold here as "junk". I wouldn't go that far, but I will say that what is sold here is, at best, just as good as what is sold in other stores, only more expensive. Yes, MORE expensive. The true discount shop crowns go to Dollar Tree, Ocean State Job Lot, and Big Lots, when it comes to both quality and value (though I will admit that the Christmas Tree Shops are probably a step above Family Dollar and Dollar General...not sure if that says much). I went into this store with my friend (and fellow Yelper) Biota H. and came out with exactly 0 items. Needless to say, I am not anxious to go back. Note: On my shopping trip there weren't gobs of people here, but I have heard, on more than one occasion, that visiting this place is VERY stressful. Although i have been going into the Christmas tree shops for years, I just recently really fell in love with them. They by far have the BIGGEST selection of Chanukah merchandise around. Yes believe or not CHRISTMAS tree shops, is where I buy my Chanukah stuff. They have everything from socks, to wrapping paper, to plates and mugs. I just can't believe the selection they had. Typically I try and avoid the store during this time of year, so I don't usually get to see how much they have, unless its after the holidays and its on clearance. Today however I got to brave the snow and go shopping with no lines! Not one person in front of me. The place was so dead they were sending home employees that wanted to. I did not have a clue what the Christmas Tree Shop was. I had just assumed it was a seasonal store for Christmas decor. I was wrong. My friend dragged me in here and I was converted. I am weirdly a fan of "crap" stores where you can get a cart full of things you may need at the some distance future for the low low price of hoarding. This store was like a little heaven! Though you can easily drop hundred of dollars on crap you don't actually need, you can also spend some money (while saving a whole lot) on crap you actually need. I found this store to be a heaven-sent after moving into a new place. I was able to get good disposable decor for cheap. I also really enjoy its picture frame selection. It also has good kitchen utensils/knickknacks that you always forget is a kitchen necessity until you need it. I'm obsessed with the Christmas Tree Shop and I will probably become a hoarder because of it. And I'm slightly ok about it. read more

If you like leaving a store with 87 things you never knew you needed, Christmas Tree Shop has you covered. For real. The best part about this store is discovering deals on things you've been meaning to pick up, but keep forgetting about. These are the gems you discover while meandering through the Christmas Tree labyrinth. For example, I always go in to stock up on $1 colorful and sparkly tissue paper and gift bags (get in on that!) and leave with discounted sunscreen, or that ladle I keep forgetting to get, or that vase I need to make a terrarium. I mean, if you have no willpower, kiss your paycheck goodbye. However, if you can pull it together and only get the things you are actually going to use (and not just because they're a great deal!), then stop by every so often and see what awesome stuff is in season! read more

Love Christmas Tree Shops! Even after the renovation, which has changed things a good bit... If you're looking for a way to make a creative gift basket that won't break your bank, they're awesome. They also carry alot of random items, discontinued goods, linens, drapes, furniture, etc. You have to stop in often to get a good idea of the selection they work through in an average year. Sales are few and far between, the biggest is the after Christmas sale (for obvious reasons). Prices are so low usually that when they have a sale it means they are basically taking a loss on the goods to just get them out the door. The grocery aisle is always interesting to say the least, it's a good way to try different spices or shelf stable items without feeling guilty if you don't like them. The renovation resulted in the addition of personal care product aisles, basically like they took a chunk of CVS or Wallgreens and transplanted it and then slashed the prices. Shelves are really high now because there was only a limited floor space to work with. Short people (like me) will get frustrated with this. While it's tempting to go all year, this store is best avoided from after Thanksgiving until just after Christmas. If you go in during this time of year, be forewarned that lines are long and merciless shoppers will run you over. Seriously. I have had my foot run over and once a woman tried to move my cart WITH A BABY IN IT... Anyways, this is a place you visit to stock up on cheap gifty items and find completely random stuff at low low prices. It's definitely an experience. read more

The address might be misleading but once you are there, you'll see this Christmas Tree Shops on top of the hill next to Guitar Center. I thought this place has great bargains from decor, gardening needs, and everything and anything you can think of. The quality of some of the product are not sub par. Lines are pretty quick. Love this store! However they fail to realize the lack of cleanliness. The bathroom needs to be done! It has dirt and grime all over walls floors, sink, you name it, I can go on and on. There is no ventilation in the bathroom. I am afraid to bring my kids to this bathroom. You are incredible store, however you need to know this, you guys expanded the back wall to accommodate more products but you did nothing about the restrooms? Come on, get this bathroom re-done, have some light and ventilation stalled there please! Smells awful there. read more

I love the new aisles with all of the personal care products and snackicakes. The store doesnt seem as messy as in the past, and we got in and out of the check out in record time (and it was Memorial Weekend!).
