My first thought when I saw the Christmas Tree Shops sign year's ago was that it was a store for people who love Christmas all year long! It's not like that at all! I've still never understood why they named it that. :-/ Someone in Massachusetts thought it up because that's where the store originated. This particular location is located in Greenwood across from the Greenwood Park Mall. If I'm looking for decorations for any holiday this is where I go. They go all out on holiday and seasonal items and the prices are great! They have so many cute and unique decorations that you can't find anywhere. I enjoy summer and know "pumpkin season" is getting earlier and earlier every year. So, I wasn't surprised when I saw a lot of fall items walking in. They had an assortment of football themed items gearing up for football parties and tailgates. They have other items as well. They sell Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville and Girl Scout K-cups! Different varieties of each! Thin Mints, Trefoil, and Five 'O Clock Somewhere Dark Roast to name a few. I wish they had more locations around central Indiana. Today I walked in with my son just to try to find some fun stocking stuffers for my family. I walked out to several organizational storage boxes, slippers, very inexpensive Albanese gummies, and various snacks. They really have some thing for everyone, including your pet. Treats. Sweaters. Dog bowls. They even have fun rugs and artwork for home Decour. Snacks for any pallet, including gluten-free options. They have tons of beauty supplies, including nail polishes and fake eyelashes and make up brushes and deodorant. Dishes and seasonal decor. Drinks. Jewelry. Shirts. Gag gifts. This large shop has a variety of sections including a canned goods grocery, home decor, and a seasonal holiday section. The place was crowded with shoppers and the aisles got a little congested, but most were plowing through the Christmas stuff. The rest of the shop seemed pretty easy to get around. They don't carry the high end brands, but the items are serviceable. So, there can be some savings if you are willing to take the time to work your way through. Review #1932 read more

This store name is so mis leading. Has nothing to do with Christmas but it's a very fun store to visit. I love coming here. It reminds me of a big lots store just triple the size with much better, items. There are a variety of items for every single category you can think of. Ok this had been on my list of places to shop at for many years. I remember when it first opened and I thought it was just Christmas and or holiday stuff. I heard that was not the case yet I was still not sure what I might find. It is pretty impressive in both depth of offerings and the scope of items you can get here. For example I found great coffee, tea, some amazing spicy bar mix that's made in Virginia. Candy was very plentiful too. Around half the store is the decorative items. I saw lots of summer stuff various themes with plates tablecloths silverware galore. Then if you need to clean that had that covered too. I was quite impressed by what I found and a lot of what was in the store I don't think you can find elsewhere. Prices were avg and no real sales except for a very small clearance area in back. The merchandising of all isles and items was exceptional. Everything was in perfect order. This was probably one of the best merchandised stores I have seen. Staff were helpful as well. My mom: oh my gosh! Leah, you need to go to the Christmas tree store. I know it's far but it's totally worth it. Me: meh. So I finally went to the Christmas tree store! Overall, it's nice. However, I felt like it was an "At home for the older crowd" ... they have a lot of decoration and festive things but I didn't see a lot of things that fit my style. The prices were reasonable and they offer a variety of things. I do however love the name of the store! It's very unique and that's what caught my eye to drive all the way across town to check it out. Pros: Decorative Good customer service Prices are decent! For those who may be wondering: The reason it's called "Shops" instead of simply "Shop" is because the original store, located in Massachusetts (where I'm originally from), was 3 buildings (the front shop, the back shop, and the barn shop), I just assume that over time the name has simply stuck. Also, if you are not familiar with the store, don't expect to find Christmas trees, and Christmas decorations all year round, they only sell those around Christmas, at least they do back home. There are a lot of great finds here, for really cheap. Have a look around, you never know what you may discover. They have housewares, heath and beauty supplies, some furniture items, frames, decorations, seasonal items and more. I suggest you check out the food area, they have some wonderful, imported snack items from Canada, England and other places, all for really good prices. Much cheaper than you pay when buying them in the International isle at the local grocery store., For example: Cadbury cookies and Jaffa cakes go for $4-$5 at a grocery, but at Christmas Tree Shops they are only $2. They also carry an English tea called Ty-Phoo, I've seen packages of 80 tea bags selling for about $6 at other stores, here you can get a package of 160 for only $4. When I moved from Massachusetts to Indiana I had really missed this store, and was thrilled when I saw that Indy was getting one! read more

The people working there are marginally friendly though, and they have some cute mugs and silverware and stuff for average prices. It's pretty clean, and that's nice. Discount store with cute, but also cheap stuff... Kinda hit and miss. Great if you need cheap furnishings for the house and don't mind the quality so much. It holds up fine for light use or as starter items until you can afford what you really want... Great place for dishes, curtains, seasonal items, that kind of stuff. Be warned though, the parking is not that easy. Seems like these parking lots are smaller than the 'normal' lot. and it's always busy. But do sign up for their e-mails if shop there regularily, because they quite often send you coupons, like $10 off , and who couldn't use that? read more

I thought this would be a fun shop and it was. But it had a lot of other things in it. They should rename it to It's Just not another Christmas Tree Shop. Something like that. I found a really neat fleece jacket. Some dishes I been wanting. Very little christmas stuff out for being a christmas store. It really is like how Big Lots use to be. I still enjoy shopping here. Service is pretty good as well. They need to mark their restrooms just a little bit better. Thought of a new name for it Seasonal Store because they had no christmas items out not even in one little corner. I feel badly for the people who make Christmas items year round. My husband and I went to check the store out for the first time; but I was really disappointed. Only half of the store has actual Christmas/winter decorations and the rest I felt like I was at a Big Lots. I thought it was weird they sold face wash and grocery items. I did like some of their decorations but if it was only Christmas decorations the store would be much smaller. read more

My experience at the Greenwood Indiana Christmas Tree Shops, I went Sunday it was around 2pm, after being in the store about 8 or 9 minutes I was approached by a lady named Debby, and this was our conversation. Debby said to me "ma'am can I offer you a mask" me "oh no thank you" Debby says to me in a little less polite voice "then ma'am do you have a mask to but on" me " no ma'am I am unable to wear a mask, I have a medical exemption" Debby's response very rudely "yeah ok well then can I offer you curb side pick up" I say in still a very polite voice "oh no thank you" Debby replies "then what can I help you find" I say "nothing ma'am I am doing just fine" and I walk away pushing my cart. Now a little back story I went into Christmas Tree Shops needing (maybe not needing more like wanting) about $300 worth of stuff. So as I continue on looking, I notice another employee following me around the store staying about 5-6 feet behind me every where that I went like I was a criminal. 6-7 minutes later here comes Debby again only this time she has another lady with her, Doris. Debby and Doris are now walking straight toward me and looking straight at me, and in one of Doris's hands is a bag of the blue medical masks and in her other hand (not a clean hand because she was just working on the sales floor with other customers) is a blue medical mask that she has taken out of the bag and is holding the mouth and nose part of the mask with her bare hand, and Debby said "here you go ma'am" as Doris reaches out to hand me the mask. I said "no thank you ma'am as I said I have medical paperwork stating I am unable to wear a mask", (please keep in mind Debby has not once asked me to leave the store which I would have done with no problem at all, I have found 2 other stores since masks started that simply will not allow me to shop there with no mask and that is fine I left both stores with no issues at all, because they asked me to!) that being said Debby says "ma'am you need to put on this mask", as Dorris is holding the mask out. I reached into my purse got my wallet out and got out my medical paperwork that clearly says I am unable to wear a mask, and said "ma'am I have clearly told you I can not wear the mask, if you would like to make a copy of this paperwork you are more than welcome but I can not wear the mask" Debby say "no I don't need a copy I just need to make sure you are staying 6 feet away from other people" in a very rude and hateful voice, I am now getting irritated because Debby and Doris have now backed me down an aisle and are standing, Debby at the end of my cart and Doris on the left side of my cart, I said "I have been 6 feet away from people and now you have stepped up to me within 3 feet of me, in my personal space and now you are harassing me, I have given you the information you need and now what you need to do is leave me alone because this is turning into harassment" this is all while I am still holding my documentation like I have to prove something to this fool of a lady. Debby proceeds to say " what I need to do is find what ever it is you are looking for for you" I at this point had enough and I said " no you need to move and stop blocking me in you are harassing me and that is not ok, now if you don't mind getting out of the way so I can move along" Debby continued to stand at the end of my cart right on it so I could not move, while Doris decided to move away from the cart so I could get out. I pushed my cart to the front of the store and I left! I did not purchase anything! This is true harassment and unacceptable! I tried to call the corporate office today once I was on hold for 35 mins during my lunch break and on my way home from work I was on hold for over an hour and never got to speak to anyone. I just wonder if this is acceptable behavior to this company? Would it be ok to make a handicap person prove they cant walk to be able to use the carts you ride on? NO! That would be a lawsuit! I love the Christmas Tree Shoppes overall. Unfortunately this particular store is just too congested. It's difficult navigating some of the aisles and for some items there is no real rhyme or reason to their placement. Otherwise you can find some great stuff. read more

'Man Hell' if you ask my husband, but I personally love this place. There's lots of little stuff, so it may take a little while if you like to browse, which probably explains his reaction. If you're traveling, they have about every travel-size toiletry you could need, but they also have full-size. Really they just have great deals on household items, seasonal or not. Some of the stuff may be of questionable quality, but mostly it's fine. It's definitely worth checking out. read more

Eh...This place is okay. It is full of some pretty cool stuff (i.e.. yummy food and pretty curtains), however, I find that most of the store is filled with junk these days. Cheap junk. There is a reason that the prices in here are so low. Most of the items don't look like they would survive after you get them past the check-out lanes. It's like a cheap Old Time Pottery if that's possible. I walked in around Christmas time expecting to see a huge display but I was VERY disappointed. You'd think a store with the name Christmas in it would have Christmas decorations and stuff at Christmas time. I just came from the Christmas Tree Shop. Usually, I am very happy with my experience here. However, on the last Sunday before Christmas, there was NO Christmas music!!! ): When I asked the cashier about it, she said that the employees were tired of hearing it, that it was a nice change. I have worked retail, so I know about that. But, I had been to WalMart earlier. They were playing Christmas music. I think that hearing those familiar words and music makes the shopping experience more enjoyable. This place is fantastic! A friend drove me down last weekend - I thought it was going to just be a Christmas shop.... I was pleasantly surprised to find out It was a variety store, with rare/hard to find items. The staff was extremely friendly, and I found a box of specialty popsicles I haven't been able to find anywhere else. The location is in a crowded strip mall though, so travel is a bit difficult. read more
