I came here today with my mom because we were looking for small bottles for a craft project I'm doing for the holidays. It was pretty crowded for a Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving, but I guess shoppers these days want to get everything on their lists before they go out of stock. It's an overwhelming store if you get sensory overload pretty easily, and I absolutely do. There's just so much different things to see, smell, and touch! Once I noticed they had mini Mason jars like what I needed, however, all was well. I'd been to another store looking for them with no luck, so I was a little shopping fatigued (is that a thing?). I was really glad to see that they were individual jars and they didn't come packaged together in an amount I didn't need. I looked to buy some presents for friends, but didn't really find anything. The selection is fantastic at this store, though, and the areas are clean and labeled properly. They clearly know what they're doing when it comes to the holidays! The cashier was friendly and courteous. She even put away the shopping basket I had so I wouldn't have to. She didn't rush me either, despite there being a few people in line. Honestly, I have no idea why they call this a Christmas store. Do they sell Xmas things? Yes they do, that is when it's the Xmas season. But that's for every holiday, that is recognized by the store. So it's definitely a great store to come to when your looking for seasonal items. But wait, it's more. As others have said before, the Christmas Tree Store is not a store where you buy Christmas trees. Hummm, makes me wonder where they got their name. It's one of these stores where I always walk out buying things I didn't know I wanted or needed. Good thing they have decent prices! I always like looking at their paper plates and napkins which they supply for any and all occasions. Their seasonal merchandise includes a great variety of items. Even there food section always seems to have an interesting selection. Not somewhere I shop often but worth a stop now and then. read more

I never thought CTS had such a diverse amount of merchandise. I've purchased curtains here and most recently found a decent looking patio set. The staff has been kind and receptive, especially during the COVID reopening and are doing their best to be helpful during a time of chaos and many inbounds. First trip to this store and I was fooled. I thought Christmas Tree Shops sells Christmas items all year round (due to it's name). Basically, this store is filled with seasonal items, home-kitchen decor, bathroom items, gardening, foods and lots of random stuffs at a decent price. They have good selections of lampshades, curtains, dishes at the back. I enjoyed checking in every aisles and found some interesting stuffs. While my son was at basketball practice, I decided to head to this store and see what it's all about and WOW talk about selection! Reminded me a little bit of home goods but it's bigger! This place has everything you need for the home: seasonal decor galore, food and drink, kitchen items, bathroom items, beddings, curtains, curtain rods, anything and everything for gardening, health and wellness items, greeting cards, and more! I also enjoyed the late 90s - early 2000's jams playing but that's neither here nor there. Although I didn't see anything I really personally wanted or needed, I enjoyed my visit and DID find a soda pop I've been craving lately which is Jones's blue bubble gum soda! It's so expensive online so I was pleased to finally find it I'm store! Woohooo! I also bout some car air fresheners. Nobody asked if I needed help for the whole 50 minutes I spent at the store which was odd but I never needed help anyway and the cashier was very nice! I love shopping here, but detest the parking lot. This is not the fault of Christmas Tree Shops. It's just a really busy shopping center, and most people in Buffalo drive like they're blind, can't identify signs, or twelve. (Not you, of course. You're an excellent driver, thus saith Charlie Babbitt.) That said, make sure you are paying attention when you pull into this parking lot, and don't take your eye off the road for even a second! And lest ye be surprised, it's not just Christmas stuff inside this giant retail outlet. They sell great fall decorations, spring decorations, and summer decorations too. And there are housewares, small furniture items, home decor, food, pet stuff, and gifts. The best part of all this? The prices are fantastic! Remember, though. You get what you pay for. Cheap things aren't always the best quality. Be smart about what you're buying, and be willing to make a return if you need to. We bought my mom a jewelry armoire from CTS a couple of Christmases ago. When we started to assemble it for her, we noticed that one of the pieces of "wood" was badly damaged. Back in the box it went. We returned it about a week later and got another one. I did not bother checking the second one because it was packed tightly in the box and there was no damage to the box itself. Got it home only to find out it was also damaged. This one went back and we got a refund. They didn't give me any hassle about returning it, and for that I was relieved. That's really the only bad experience I've had at Christmas Tree Shops. Usually the stuff I buy holds up and does what it's supposed to do. The lines aren't unusually long, and even when they seem that way, they move pretty quickly. Think Big Lots' cousin. read more

This place is like a Marshalls that carries mostly home good and furniture. They had outdoor patio furniture and decoration items as well as a sizable section of pantry items. As I do every year, I go to the Christmas shop and purchase Advent Calendars to give out at Thanksgiving. This year I purchased 24 on 10/27/20 - each had an expiration date of 4/2021. I mailed out several and passed out personally the remaining. Unfortunately, I received a call from my son and picture that the candy in the Candy calendar was bad, picture below. I'm so sorry and disappointed - I wanted to bring a smile and some happiness to my little/big friends and I guess it is another disappointment during this pandemic! I called the Christmas tree store I purchased them from to inform them. They offered a refund - but not a refund and replacement of good ones as a good will effort. I both love and dread this store. There's so much stuff sold here, it's unbelievable. On the other hand, there's so much stuff sold here at such reasonable price, it's unbelievable. The store is large. It has to be. It sells everything from cups and cutlery to knickknacks and frames and furniture to toothpaste and linen to pens and cards to seasonal items. There's even a section for pantry items, snacks, and other non-perishables. Shopping in this store could take 10 minutes (if you know exactly what to look for, exactly where it is, the checkout line is short, and you're not distracted by anything shiny), or hours. A few years ago, I discovered that Christmas Tree Shops sells various sized cookie tins; one of the few stores around that sell them and do so for very reasonable prices. When you give away dozens of cookie tins each year, the prices that other stores demand for these tins suddenly don't seem very reasonable anymore. Ever since then, at the beginning of the holiday season, I make my annual trip to the Christmas Tree Shops to buy dozens and dozens of various sized cookie tins. I also started buying some of my baking pans, tins, and cookie cutters from them since their prices for those are also quite reasonable. I hope Christmas Tree Shops will remain operational for a very long time. I definitely recommend checking them out. Who knows what you may find there. read more

Overrated and underwhelmed. I can't believe the hype some people put out about this store. Hubby and I went early December. It was EXTREMELY crowded which we weren't expecting. What we were expecting was something just better. Reality did not meet the hype. We honestly got much better Christmas decorations at Lowe's and Home Depot! Yes, you'll spend more there, but for us it was worth it. The Christmas Tree Shop didn't carry much of a variety in our opinion. It was a lot of repeat stuff in the Christmas section. We couldn't even find a star or a tree topper! It was honestly reminiscent of Big Lots, which we don't mind, but we're expecting something different. We unfortunately most likely won't be back. We did find some nice quality, double sided wrapping paper and fuzzy socks. My review is based solely on our experience in the Christmas decoration section. We didn't bother venturing off. This review is based on one aspect of the store, which is that for the holidays they have so many choices for Christmas decorations but the Hanukkah section was pathetic. And yes, I know it's called the Christmas tree shops, but you'd think they'd be a little bit more inclusive of other holidays since they are one of the prime locations for holiday shopping and are more of a seasonal store than anything. I wanted to buy a menorah, and in between all of the Isles and isles of Christmas decorations I was directed to a tiny endcap where maybe 6 little Hanukkah decorations sat. I really like to come to the store to get my wrapping paper and some different snacks that they carry, and it would be nice if I could purchase some decor hear too. While their selections and prices are to rave for unfortunately their customer service is extremely poor! I purchased a discounted item for $20. When attempting to return the store manager refused to accept the item stating the store policy in fine print at the register clearly states customers are unable to return discounted items. I responded "mam, the customer waits in line for 30 before getting to the register. No one is reading the finely printed sticker at the register. I am simply trying to cash out of the store. Your cashier should politely remind customers of the return policy when cashing out discounted items". I left the $20 huge and heavy mirror in the cart corral as a donation to the next customer. OK I love this store. It is addictive. I can't get out of there for under $60 every time I'm there - not just at Christmas but all year long! Some things are over priced but for the most part, you can reasonably decorate a house with all kinds of beautiful chachkis from one season to the next. And you'll even find things you didn't know you needed! Sure there are some off brand things and once in a blue moon you will see the most hilariously items that have typos (one time I saw a pig plate instead of a pie plate) but that's part of the fun. I went in today and they have beautiful spring items out, which certainly helps on a snowy February day! I bought some really adorable items that brightened up my house. (And yes, spent over 60.00 lol) I also purchased bear creek soup (which you can get at any store) and it was delicious! They have keurig coffee pods that are terrific, too! I'm annoyed with this place. Yes, there is a lot of stuff and you really need to be able to sift through the trash from the treasures however I have been burned twice now. In the sense that I do not live anywhere close to this store and have driven there twice for a specific item only to be disappointed. Several weeks ago their circular advertised the knock off "hurricane mop" for sale. Drove down to get one the first day of the sale only to find that they were all gone. These mops really do work well and since I do have pets, I ended up buying the actual "as seen on TV' mop/bucket apparatus and paying triple the cost. I did this because a store employee told me that there were no more mops anticipated and I could wait to see if anyone returned one. Today I drove over to pick up two kitschy lobster trap lamps. Yes, lobster traps. I arrived to find every other type of "beach/coastal" lamp ever made however no lobster trap. You're kidding me - has my local community gone insane?? Lobster trap lamps are a current fashion statement in Western New York? As I was leaving in a disgruntled state I did notice something , HUNDREDS of faux hurricane mops had blown into town and were currently for sale. read more

I started going to CTS in the 1980's when it was still at the original location a Barn and 2 buildings in Yarmouth Port, MA. It was like none other I had ever seen. At the time, they sold alot of liquidated merchandise from high end catalogs like Horchow and you can get some really high quality decorative items for a bargain. Then sadly the CTS stores were sold and it became mainstream with cheaper merchandise from China. Now today, I call it an upscale Dollar Store. A few years ago, I'd have given this store five stars, however in my grumpier old age of 28, I've knocked off a star due to reevaluation of what my time is worth to me. Before kids, I had hours to spend in this store (and I did spend hours, no lie) but having two young kids with limited patience has made me better appreciate the ability to swiftly move through a store, inspect items in a timely fashion, grab what I like and get out. That is hard to do here. Not only is there so much to look at (housewares, outdoor items, kitchenware, food, pet supplies, toys, gifts, health & beauty products, and more) but the aisles and pathways are narrow, especially when it's busy. It is difficult to get a cart through the pathways, so I am always backing up and turning around because someone else has blocked the way with their cart or body. It gets frustrating sometimes because I just want a closer look at *that one thing over there* but only one person can fit in that corner at a time, so I have to wait or move on. The employees here are typically pleasant, though I was in a longish line yesterday and the cashier in the empty aisle next to me kept staring at me while I was waiting, but never said that she was open. So after a minute of my standing still and her standing still, I asked "are you open?" And she said "yes". Like ok, it would've been nice of you to tell me that instead of watching me wait in another line. So I backed up to move to her line and another customer with a full cart came zooming through and popped in front of me. The cashier didn't say anything. That kind of thing drives me crazy. But like I said, usually the folks here are really nice. The store seems to be maintained well, it's not dirty or messy. The restrooms are clean and comfortable as well. There is a water fountain in the restroom vestibule if you need a quick refreshment. The items here range from uber-cheap to relatively expensive (think everything from .50 to $150) and the quality ranges accordingly, so it is a great place to check out if you're in the mood for browsing or shopping for gifts or even relieving boredom. Keep in mind that most "specialty" items don't last long (and by "specialty" I mean anything they don't carry on a regular basis, which is like 90% of the store)- so when you see it, get it. I've made the mistake too many times of telling myself I'd come back for something and then it wasn't there. Signing up for emails is a good idea, but the prices here are decent enough that you're still getting a good deal without coupons. (Also keep in mind that they do not take manufacturers coupons for their name brand items, at least as of two years ago when I asked.) This is a great store to shop in- just make sure you give yourself plenty of time- there's nothing worse than having to shop a store like this in a hurry! read more

Yes, Christmas Tree shops does have it all. American flag? Check. Storage bins? Check. Candles? Check. I could go on and on, but I won't because although they have everything and then some the quality of their items is pretty poor from experience. For example, I purchased dish towels yesterday and the only purpose they served was moving the water around on my dishes instead of drying them. The plastic storage container cracked within a day, the lamp I bought was flimsy, you get the idea. Christmas Tree is one of those stores that you learn how to shop at over time. There is a lot of junk here. But there are also so decent things too. The trick is to avoid the cheap junk and find the treasures. I avoid this place (this shopping plaza really) during high traffic times- weekends, holidays (Canadian holidays included), any other special event time that draws the masses. Car Traffic here is frankly too frustrating and in a store like this, the foot traffic can be out of control as well. I will say that their product circulation is seasonal. So something they had a ton of one month might be gone the next. Stock up while you can! Things I've bought here that are great: -K-cups for the Keurig- my favorite kind (Vanhoutte Costa Rican blend) are $9.99 for 18 and sometimes they go on clearance for $6.99. They have a huge variety of K-cups here- including teas too. -Red Mill flour, baking mixes, etc. They have an extensive selection of gluten-free products, big bags of chia seeds, flax seeds, granola, etc. -Most other food related products here. They're mostly less expensive than at other places and have always been good quality, but again be selective. -Baskets for decoration or storage. -Dog items- my dogs love cow ears and they sometimes have them here. I usually buy 2 or 3 packs when here because this is one of those seasonal things. Sometimes they have them, sometimes not. Puppy training pads are fine from here as are fabric collars. Toys, eh. They are flimsy and one of my dogs likes to destroy everything so I don't buy toys here. -Greeting cards, wrapping paper, photo albums. All are totally acceptable. -Holiday decorations and great little Christmas baking packaging. Got some really cute bags and boxes last year to put cookies in for gifts. Everything else... Well, just be a savvy consumer. If it looks junky, steer clear. I wouldn't recommend pillows, bedding, furniture, lamps, home decor. They are all cheap and won't last long. I know from experience. Even non-name brand cosmetics and toiletries. Just skip 'em. Anyway, come at a quieter time and enjoy wandering the store. Also, if you sign up to get emails from them, they send you a $10 off of $50 coupon. So easy to spend $50, even if only on K-cups! Like I said, stock up while they have it! read more

I can't be the only old that remembers Pete 'N' Larry's. CTS is like PnL's minus the drug store. You don't really NEED anything they sell here...but it's cheap. Seriously, I don't know how their stuff is nicer than Big Lots and cheaper at the same time. (China? It's China, isn't it?). I bought three stylish curtain rods for $7.99 each. The same style were $13.99 at Big Lots. Sign up for the email list to receive coupons. The downside is that it's in the dreaded Boulevard Consumer Square. It's getting to the point that the money I save shopping here won't be worth the inevitable fender bender I'll get into in the parking lot someday. read more

Went there for the first time today, wow. It reminds me of the variety stores back home in Brooklyn. This store is a mish mosh of random stuff from kitchen supplies to food to home and garden to shampoo. Its like Ollies and Big Lots but the quality is better than Ollie's and Big Lots because the stuff is nicer looking. I wouldn't say the stuff is the best quality in the world but the stuff is cheap for really good quality. I got these beechwood kitchen spoons for 1.99 each. Everywhere else I've looked they were 3.99 +. They're super sturdy quality for 1.99. Pros: Store is organized and cleaned pretty well for having such a wide variety of stuff, cheap prices for good quality stuff that is pretty good looking, they offer coupons, in a good location next to other stores that I would want to go to Cons: I don't really see any! read more

They have a great selection of really great looking lamps here. They are waaaaay in the back (strategically placed) so that you have to pass all the rows and bins of clearance stuff on the way. I kept my blinders on and did not allow myself to be distracted. I found the perfect lamp for under $20! Score! Everywhere else, I couldn't find anything I liked under $50. But after I chose my lamp, this happened: Me to Employee: do you have light bulbs? Her: No, sorry. Me: So you carry lamps but no light bulbs? Her: (embarrassed and apologetic): Yeah, I'm sorry. The first trip to this store and I thought I had found a real gem! There was a huge variety of items. However, some seemed to be on the rather very inexpensive side! We didn't want to buy too much, because we were not convinced of the quality of the items. However, the stone like benches we bought are still good as new outside - we never bring them in. The food selection is crazy and scattered, but we found these apple cinnamon straw that turned out to be our favorite treat. However, we only found them twice and haven't seen them again anywhere! I'll admit, I don't quite understand the naming of this store, but I love it. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE Christmas. During Holiday season, Christmas Tree has EVERYTHING. From wrapping paper, to holiday cookies, to storage tubs, to the cutest cheapest décor ever. After recently moving into my own house, I have come here at least once a week since. Any holiday that is coming up they have LOADS of décor and cutesy little things to buy to celebrate! I have purchased MANY things in my home from here. Cutlery, silverware, curtains, lamps, Halloween Décor, even some Xmas stuff, food, electronics and even pet supplies. My brother works here and has since the store opened. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful if you have a question about a product. The items are so affordable and although sometimes cheaply made, mostly you get a great bargain considering what you paid. First off let me state that I am a dude not only that but I am jewish and I dislike trees so why write a review about a store called the Christmas Tree Shops, because its awesome. The store is filled with a lot of frilly nonsense, however in the back left they have a good selection of furniture, most of the stuff is solidly made of real wood and the prices are great. They also feature pretty decent priced rugs I got a few 3' solid runners for 3 or 4 bucks a pop and they are well made. The store also features some nice kitchen stuff primarily storage and serving stuff the tables looked nice but a little unstable. read more

Upon walking into this store (due to the name) I was expecting to be transported into a Christmas wonderland in March. Turns out the name is deceiving, this is not a Christmas store, but and odds and ends store. When you do finally enter the store and realize that they do not sell Christmas decorations all year around, you see a section of holiday/seasonal decor (Easter, 4th of July, Summer), walking further towards the back of the store you will find stuff for the home: blankets, bedding, futons, home decor, kitchenware. After you browse though the home section, you find the food section: various teas, snacks, cereals. Other things that you can find in the store are travel side toiletries (the prefect size to pack in your suitcase and carry-on) and you also can find a toy department. The store was huge and had quite the selection of everything, but as I said in the beginning of this review it wasn't what I expected.
