All the bakery items look amazing. Tried a morning bun which is a more unique item that they only make on the weekends. For the coffee shop area there's only one table, and a Long Bar for your drinks if you're staying. Staff was nice. Ambiance with the sparkling lights is cool. Two of us came in for lunch on a Saturday. We ordered a Margherita and a Cappuccino each. Both came out fast, hot and with a warm smile. The coffee was very fresh and high quality. My only disappointment was the paper cup instead of a crockery cup. Almost cost a star but I decided to overlook it. Excellent staff and very clean facility. read more

My boyfriend and I both tried the Mona Lisa Panini. He had ham and I did not. He also tried the kale salad and he didn't really like it. The panini was absolutely fantastic though! It's basically a grilled cheese with tomatoes and bell peppers but it's so delicious! The Chai tea here is also extremely tasty. I love the chill, casual hipster decor that the restaurant has. The bakery section is right next to the restaurant seating section, it's a nice layout in my opinion and the waitress brings your food right to your table after you pay at the cash register. read more

Paper cups rather than ceramic in the restaurant. This is not good - covid no longer an excuse... The restaurant needs to turn their heat up; we were uncomfortably cold for our mid- morning cappacino and pastry. There was no hot water in the bathroom (two bathrooms - one out of order). The "benchs" are hard; cushions are needed. The restaurant is very very noisy..it's hard to carry on a conversation..very annoying Good quality pasries and coffees. Priced very high for pastry portion sizes. Il Secondo used to be one of our favourite coffee shops to visit in Saskatoon for mid-morning or afternoon breaks. Food is good here. The croissants are often excellent. Still, a few issues: first, since Co-vid they've stopped serving their coffee in nice cups with saucers and even if you're eating in you get your coffee in a paper cup. Seems a bit much for a $5+ latte. Next, in winter it's uncomfortably cold in the seating area. If you're ok with these things then you'll be fine. For me, it's not worth it. read more

Man I wish there was a place like this within walking distance of my US home. I think I could support this place all on my own! In this little (well 220K people) Canadian city in the middle of nowhere there is now great coffee. Now I can label it that way because I spent many years there and it's true. 15 years after moving away I return to find a Starbucks (big deal) and other coffee shops popping up but this place is miles above all others. Some of the best bakery items I've seen in a long time. Great Espresso and I love the way they put the little accent on the top of my Latte. Nice area inside to enjoy your food and coffee and great service. If it wasn't so far from home I'd be there every day! Il Secondo is, quite simply, of exceptional quality. Their pizzas are astounding - cooked in an authentic wood fired brick oven, they are full of flavour and surprisingly filling. The Calabrese and prosciutto pizzas are particularly good and reasonably priced at$17 given the high quality of the ingredients. The dough is perfectly thin (not too thin) and delicate; I'm guessing they use a proper double zero flour to make it (the best way to get an authentic Italian taste). The baked goods are also very good; particularly the cinnamon buns and chocolate croissants. The location is perfect - tucked away just off Broadway across the street from the Bulk Cheese Warehouse. Seating can get cramped at rush hour (weekends) so plan accordingly. The atmosphere is comfortable, and the staff are wonderful. The water station is always stocked and there are always a few extra people to take orders or fix up a coffee. This is by far one of Saskatoon's best Cafe bakeries. read more

Best cinnamon bun I've found in Saskatoon. Seems they cart pastries from Christie's Mayfair Bakery to here. Makes sense. Might have to try the Mayfair location for some other goodies. Overall the place is pretty ok. Decor is lame, vibe is meh but cinnamon buns are a real treat. The staff seems to be enjoying themselves and honestly, there is something to be said about that! read more

This is possibly the best bread bakery and pizza in all of Saskatoon. Exceptional pastries, many keep well for up to two days. Do try the Saskatoon tart, best we've had. The breads are so good they sell out fast. The pizza is traditional thin crust Italian, and they make fabulous paninis. Don't forget to order their coffee, it's rich and nutty, and cappuccino has a wonderfully thick foam. On any given day, at any given time, you're lucky to find a table - prepare to vulture. read more

came here for a quick bite was either here or UNA, but that looked a bit more like flatbread. pastries - dough had good flavour, but lacked the texture of crispy-ness/flakey-ness from a good patisserie Pain aux amandes - paste good subtle flavour not overly sweet Saskatoon berry Danish - perfect amount of berries to pastry ratio again not overly sweet Saskatoon berry tart - just a lot of berry+jammy filling and to me it's overwhelming and makes the Berry's taste overly sweet and covers up their subtle flavour Margherita pizza - good dough not a lot of crust structure at the bottom of the pizza just enough to hold up the sauce+toppings (eat it quick!). sauce was fresh and bright. was fresh mozzarella of okay quality (good texture/lacked flavor) pizza with goat.cheese+italian.sausage - great flavour combination Quinoa/Kale salad - good dressing/texture/flavour with the fat pumpkin seeds and soaked green raisins overall a cool spot to grab a bite at would recommend checking out the pizza here and would come back to try more! value rating - 7/10 overall rating - 7/10 read more

Busy little place but well worth the wait. The pizzas are absolutely exquisite. Nothing else in the city can compare to it. Pizza from Famoso and Una are put to shame by this place. Ok, you can trust this review because I'm a regular. I think they have great soups and sandwiches. The pizza is fantastic - made in a wood-fired oven, etc. Thing is, they've gone and installed a gigantic television that now dominates the place, making it feel more like a sports bar than a bakery. I don't know, do they pay attention to who their customers are? Do people go to a bakery to watch soccer? I don't think so. For that, they go to the bar. Do the coffee and pastry crowd really want a big-ass TV taking up their mental space? No. Are people having lunch together interested in having television looming over them as they chat? I doubt it. So what's the reasoning, I wonder? Sorry, but I won't be eating at this place anymore. Ok, I'll stop in and buy the occasional loaf of bread but now if I want to sit and sip a latte while I read my book, I'll be setting up camp elsewhere.
