I went on a random…read moreday at the end of may and there was still a lot of packed snow at the final 1/8th or so of the trail, and I didn't have chains/spikes or trekking poles. I almost never turn around on hikes but this was one that I did - it was very difficult to navigate the trail (you couldn't see the ground at all) and it was VERY steep. I was alone and afraid if I fell it would be very bad news, and I wouldn't get help at least right then. Some folks did go past me and made it; they told me on the way down that it was beautiful and you can get right up next to the water! I'm sure that's true per the pics. Along the way, the trail was well kept and had a beautiful view over some of the other lakes. There was lots of wildlife; spotted a bear and her cub at one point. Overall just super beautiful, peaceful, and not overrun with folks since it's a harder trail than the most popular ones in the Jenny lake area. Definitely recommend to at least attempt this one! Of note there is a NP bathroom at the trailhead but no running water. I came around 8a and there was plenty of parking in the gravel lot but on my way out around 12p, it was full and cars were parking along the dirt road to enter the trailhead area.

On 06/16/2025, I hiked the MOST INTENSE hike. My friend and I started at 10 AM and didn't finish…read moreuntil 9 PM. We hiked from Taggart trailhead to Taggart Lake, then off to Bradley Lake. After those two hikes onto Delta Lake. We hiked a total of 15 miles at 9,000 ft of elevation. I frequently hike, but in no way have I ever trained to hike at any kind of elevation. I knew my limits, but boy were they pressed on this hike. On the trail going up, I saw elk and marmots around. Its better to hike with a group of two or more and someone you trust, don't be like me and hike with someone who can care less than you and constantly left me to solo hike on unfamiliar territory. The trail after Bradley Lake is a continuous incline, so take plenty of water and rest breaks. I had to take plenty of breaks and am a slow hiker. Whether you read it on Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, or All Trails, the last 3 miles up is torturously difficult. It is constant rocky with huge boulders that you have to cross by crawling. Here at this point, your trekking poles are useless. In June, some of the trail was still covered with snow. Quite challenging for someone who isn't used to walking in snow; the snow was semi-hard, but soft in parts so I fell a couple of times. To get to the top after the boulders, there's a deep ascend upwards that crawling is the only option and you gotta be careful not to fall backwards. At this moment, I was 3 minutes in and wanted to give up! My friend had already left me behind, I was pissed off at her, and mad at myself for putting myself through this hike. Until, a family coming down gave me some serious encouragement to continue on. Shout out to that beautiful family! Y'all, a real one!! Whew!! I was exhausted once I crossed my final hill to see Delta Lake. It was indeed beautiful and is worth it! The water was crystal turquoise blue (naturally), it was hypothermia cold, but the snow capped mountain tops were a stunner to view. It was so picturesque and all I wanted was to rest. However, I didn't get to because two people were in my ear about, "can you take my picture?" at every single moment and angle. It was so annoying. My friend and I stayed about 15 minutes at the lake before we started our trek back. Now, that was problematic because we were racing to get back before nightfall and since we weren't smart enough to start at Delta Lake trailhead, the hike took longer, we wasted time a lot of time hiking, so by the time we were heading back it was 6pm in the evening. Luckily, it gets completely dark after 9pm. On the way back, it was a descend hike down the mountain, so our pace was slightly increased, but we had to be very careful because on the trail, we spotted a moose. He wouldn't move and was minding his own business. His partner was on the side, then ran when it saw our presence. Eventually, the moose scurried away in the forest. We continued to hike and was faced with a grizzly bear off the path, but was in close proximity. I was horrified and quickly grabbed my bear spray ready to shoot. My friend told me to just run across. I thought that was stupid of her to tell me to risk my life of being eaten so she can live free. Mercifully, the bear continued to eat grass and walked further into the forest. At that point, I was terrified of being with this so-called friend, out in bear country, and by 7:00 PM, we were STILL hiking. I started to panic and begged this chick (that I was with) to call park rangers. Her iPhone had died, so no access to maps, but thankfully my Android still had sufficient battery lasting through the end. She continued to say we didn't need to, but at last she did (after I begged her to) call 911 for rescue. We hiked an additional 4 miles. I was EXTREMELY tired!!! My legs were jello and I was out of breath, but couldn't stop. By that time, my mum called me since I never told her I was safe back at the hostel. A mother's instinct, she knew something was wrong. So she called the park rangers too and then they came, met up with us, and walked us then drove us to the Taggart Lake trailhead where we had parked. The following day, I was too tired to move or walk. I must add, this isn't a small kid friendly hike. I saw noone hiking with tiny kids. My advice to anyone looking to dare hike this trail: *Hike from the Delta Lake trailhead *Bring a trusted friend who actually cares about your wellness and well-being to wait on you and not mock you for hiking pace. *Start early *Train to hike at an elevation and don't cold turkey wing it especially if you're a Southeast Texan *Trekking poles are needed *Know your limits (coincides with the friend note) *Wear comfortable hiking shoes with supportive grip. *Have fun in a safe way

Taggart lake trail is stunning, although I will admit I was pretty surprised at the number of…read moremicroclimates I experienced while I was on this trail. There was rain and wind on the first third or so of it, which got worse before it got better. By the time I got to the last fourth or fifth of the trail before reaching the actual lake, it became very cool, gray, and very rainy. Thankfully it hadn't been raining long so it wasn't too muddy but it clearly can get that way, especially along the short descent down the hill with a couple switchbacks just before you get to the lake. When I actually got to the lake, it was full on raining and even sleeting a bit. I took some pictures with my raincoat on, and it was still really cool in a moody way, but it was very wet. By the time I got about two thirds of the way back to the trailhead, it cleared all the way up and became quite sunny. By the time I got back to my car at the trailhead parking lot, there was no rain, no clouds in the sky except over the tetons in the far distance, and it was fairly warm. Overall, it was a beautiful trail both going there and coming back so no regrets, but do come prepared!

When looking at the Tetons, if you choose the route to the left, much steeper on the way to the lake than the route from the right. Neither is wrong. Beautiful hike, terrain, and views. We happened to hike after recent storms so some parts of the path were puddled with water. Made it fun with either walking through or around. All fun. Relatively easy hike but incredible so don't miss. The water in the lake is so clear and beautiful it makes you want to jump in but you know it's colder than a witches tit!

We saw some elk, mule deer, two bald eagles, and so many birds (golden eyes, mergansers, sandhill cranes, and more).

The horse "stables" are located several miles down a dirt road off of the main road so be prepared to drive slow and have your GPS map downloaded ahead of time because you will lose signal. We opted for the 2 hour ride which costs $114 if paying by credit card or $100 if paying by cash. The staff help you get onto the horse and provide basic directions on how to start and stop. I was a little worried about this since I've only ridden one other time but luckily the horses are all very well trained and essentially just follow the guide horse on their own. The experience overall was nice, with the path winding through stream beds and through the woods. I would not say that it had awe inspiring views or surroundings though. At the turn around point the guide got off of his horse and took photos of each of the groups with the mountain view in the background which was nice. I will say that the staff didn't feel that friendly. As we were waiting to leave, one of the women stated that she hoped that wouldn't have to get off of her horse to take photos of the guests. Also our guide, while making conversation with one of the guests on our ride mentioned several stories about annoying guests - girls "in their western era" putting on makeup while on the horse and women trying to pick him up. Trust me, I get that tourists can be annoying but this business is quite literally catering to tourists. It didn't make us feel very welcome. Finally, I'm by no means a horse expert, but as some of the other reviewers mentioned, all of the horses are tied up, saddled, in the direct sun, until they are pulled for a ride. It felt confined, with a lack of freedom for the horses.

If you care even a little about animal welfare, you will immediately notice that something feels wrong when you arrive. This place feels like a tourist machine rather than an authentic ranch experience. Dozens of horses are lined up, already saddled, and spend the day tied up waiting for the next group. There are no real pastures around. The horses that are not tied are kept in small pens, with no grass and far too many horses in a limited space. As an experienced rider, I was extremely disappointed by the ride itself. We paid $260 for an experience that was advertised on their website as a way to see wildlife. This was the main reason we chose this company. After only five minutes on horseback, I asked our guide what animals we might have the chance to see. His answer was very honest but incredibly disappointing: he told us we would probably see nothing because the trails are used dozens of times every day and animals avoid the area. Ironically, we saw a moose and a weasel less than a mile from the ranch on the road. The "Big View Grand Teton" ride ($140 per person) is honestly just a basic out-and-back trail. You start in a completely flat open area, then do a short climb through the forest to reach a mediocre viewpoint, before going back down through almost the exact same scenery. The entire ride is at a walk. No one asked about our riding experience; horses were simply assigned when we arrived based on our height. Of course, the whole ride was at a slow walk, which made the experience incredibly boring for anyone who actually knows how to ride. For the price, the scenery was not memorable, the experience was not authentic, and the promise of seeing wildlife was completely misleading. If you are looking for a true Western horseback experience, go somewhere else. Stay at a real ranch for a night or more, and you will have the opportunity to ride for several hours through much more beautiful and varied landscapes, while supporting places where horses have a better quality of life. This place was a huge disappointment and, in our opinion, not representative of what a real ranch experience should be. It is truly a shame to see that, in 2026, some establishments are still treating horses this way. These animals deserve much better than being treated as a simple tourist attraction.

My group opted for the hike, and it made getting to the waterfall, where it was incredibly cool, extra sweet. The water created a much appreciated swamp cooler effect. It was also super pretty to look at. This part of the hike was definitely the busiest with lots of people taking pictures and eating their lunch by the waterfall. Really gorgeous! Great views on the hike up. Great stop on our trip to the Tetons!!

I would strongly recommend it,…read morebut just be aware that the parking is competitive at Jenny Lake visitor center because it's the most popular in the park (despite there being a massive parking lot with an overflow area). One of the nice things about this visitor center is that there are clean bathrooms with running water, food, options, and gift stores. The lake itself is absolutely stunning, and you have two options to get to hidden Falls - you can either do the actual trail, which takes anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, or you can take the ferry shuttle across the lake ($20 I think), which cuts your trip down by a solid mile or two. In fact, it ends up only taking maybe 15 to 20 minutes of an uphill walk to get to hidden Falls from where the ferry dock is after you ride it. Honestly, though, I think that the hike itself is absolutely worth it because the views around the lake itself are absolutely stunning! I think if you only do one hike in Grand Teton National Park, this should be it.

The Visitor Center here is one of the most popular, if…read morenot the most popular area in the park, so do take note that the parking lot fills up even though it's a huge lot. There's a lot of stuff that you can do at the lake, not just visiting the visitor center, snack and gift shop. A lot of people will swim or kayak, or just go for hikes around the lake itself including some of the trails that circle the lake and go behind it up towared Cascade Canyon or to Hidden Falls, which is absolutely stunning. On a pretty day, if you're doing the hike up to Cascade Canyon/Hidden Lake, you get the most incredible panoramic view over the lake and the surrounding area with the Tetons behind you along that hike. There's a stopping point called Inspiration Point where a lot of people were hanging out and taking pictures while I was going up there that overlooks the lake, and honestly is one of the most stunning spots I have ever seen -- definitely no doubt one of the most beautiful spots in the entire park. I think that you can't come to Grand Teton National Park and not visit Jenny Lake. If you've already been before that's one thing, but if you've never had a chance to see it yourself, you really should come by. There are also several informational plaques around the lake near the lot/visitor center that tell you about the history of the area including the native tribes, and tell you about Jenny who was part of one of the native tribes and whom the lake is named after.

Absolutely fantastic little trail - the views just can't be beat and there were SO many birds and…read moreeven several butterfly species along the way - what an overlooked gem! The trailhead is found easily - right out behind Jackson Lake Lodge and is well marked - so it's very convenient if you're staying at the lodge as well. The whole trail is a loop and is only about 1/2 mile long with just a tiny elevation gain of around 100 feet - most of which is done right at the beginning. It's all gravel and very well maintained. In the spring, the fields are covered in these short bunches of bright yellow blooms (arrowleaf balsamroot)! And the last 1/4 mile is through a small aspen grove - so lovely! The views on the west part of the loop look out across Willow Flats and over to the grand Teton range and Jackson Lake. The views to the east look over the lush green mountains of the Bridger-Teton National Forest - so it's pretty much 360 degrees of majestic beauty! And then there's the birding - wow!! I saw several lifers here - including numerous Green-tailed Towhees (which was one of my target species!!), Pine Siskins, and Ruby Crowned Kinglets! We even happened to catch a Northern Flicker belting out his noisy song repeatedly in the tree tops! There are bear warning signs all over the place - but I wasn't surprised with Teton NP being a hotbed of grizzly activity. There are also numerous information signs along the trail that discuss the history and wildlife - really interesting stuff! At the end where it starts to loop around, there's an off-shoot that keeps on going way off into the distant tree line so you can do more than just the 1/2 mile. It's truly just a fabulous trail all around and I think it gets overlooked in favor of the more popular trails - which is fine bc we had this trail to ourselves and I hiked it several times during our long weekend here! You don't have to be staying at the lodge to visit - the grounds are open to all. Highly recommend!
