Just diagonally across the road from the Sparkle Horse. My appointment was on halloween. They had a horror movie playing in the background, bottles of fizz and had all gone to the effort of putting on face paint and getting into the spirit. Lovely girls, really chatty and listen to exactly what you want. I went for my usual Sombre/Balayage colour with a cut and blow dry. It only cost £65, which is very reasonable. They even told me where I could buy the vegan products they used on my hair (Sally's). My hair is in great condition, even after having colour done. Can't wait for my next appointment with these gals!

One of the staff has been trying to wangle a discount for clients across at the Sparkle Horse, which would be great if that comes about as I've enjoyed my time in there too the few times I've been in. She's also looking at getting in someone to do Botox - which is not my thing for a few reasons, but it might be there some time soon if you want it. The one thing I wasn't keen on was that the sinks seemed a bit low when I was getting my hair washed - I think I remember one time I was in a place where the sinks could be adjusted for height, but I only go to the hairdressers two or three times a year so I can cope with that.

Firstly, I have a crazy asymmetrical hair cut that not many people know how to manage an maintain, and secondly, I know exactly how I like my hair done when I want pin up hair ( usually: MAKE IT BIG) So when it comes to choosing a salon to trust, I am, in all honesty, a bit if a snob. I've tried the big chains and I've tried a lot of the smaller places that look like they mean business too, but I have only found one place that I know I will never leave disappointed, and that's Lipstick Lashes and Locks. The salon itself is just beside the meadows so it's easy to get to. It has a super cute retro interior, extremely friendly and helpful staff and it has a really great atmosphere (not to mention plenty of tea to enjoy when getting treatments!). They not only do hair cuts and pin ups, but they also do make up and nails too, so it really is a one stop shop if you're looking for a make over. Not looking for a vintage style? Not a problem! They're top notch hairdressers that can dye your hair any colour (PASTLE FUN!!) and pretty much tackle any kind of cut or style you can think of (trust me, I have given Tina some challenges!!) Oh! Not to mention they also do mens hair cuts too, and offer cut throat beard trims, so I am kinda hoping I will meet my future husband in there ;) The prices are incredibly affordable for the high level of services they offer, and they use top of the line products too - I love that they use and sell Besame Cosmetics which is neigh on impossible to buy in Scotland. Top tip: Be sure to keep your eye out for them at Lou Lou's Vintage Fair where you can get your hair and make up done at a snip of the price, and make sure you follow them on facebook for upcoming events. If you're a pin up gal like me, I'm sure you'll be super excited to hear that Cherry Dollface is coming to the salon to do hair and make up workshops and you can even do a professional pin up photo shoot with her. I missed this last year, but I 100% intent to buy a ticket as soon as they're released as it looked like one hell of a great experience!!

Given that my last run in with bleach resulted in blisters on my scalp, massive breakage and the very real threat of my only option being a skinhead, it took me till almost their first anniversary to make it in. I'm glad to report it was well worth the wait. I'm also not in the last ashamed to admit that in my quest for purple locks I as good as begged for bleach but this time with the wonder product olaplex. I'm afraid I'm not the person to give you sciencey facts and figures about this stuff. As far as I am concerned it is a magic potion created by fairies. It takes the evil out of the bleach, despite my hair being lightened from dark brown to platinum (before the purpling) it feels amazing and in great condition. After 'lifting' all the colour out of my hair the purpling commenced and I am so happy with the result. Bright, punchy and super shiny. In the salon I didn't feel that I was getting much of a cut, Tabitha didn't seem to spend very long brandishing the scissors but she must just be a speedy genius as my hair is sitting brilliantly - even when I completely neglect to even pretend to style it. Given the results I'd be heading back to Blow but on top of how chuffed I am with my do this is without a doubt the friendliest salon I've ever set foot in. Everybody was warm, welcoming and without pretension. I'm genuinely looking forward to going back, I wonder if I should try a different colour...

I somehow left with a balayage, half my head untouched, the root starting very low on my head, and a yellow streak. The overall look was much much darker than discussed. I wanted to like it as the girl was so nice but it really wasn't what I asked for. I checked it over the next morning and as I was still so unhappy I sent an email and left a message with reception but the salon is not replying. I would not recommend this salon for colour. The salon does a lot of Instagram but is not good with customer service or colour. I have noticed that when customers leave bad reviews, the salon argues and blames the customer. Another reason not to visit.

I had never even heard of a blow dry bar before coming here but apparently they are very popular in…read morethe US (New York & California) and slowly catching on over here. The concept is pretty simple: get your hair washed & blow dried into a choice of about 8 styles for £20. You can add on special hair treatments (a BLODeluxe they call it here) using L'Oreal Professional products for an extra £8 or throw in a relaxing hair massage too for £12. You can also request a special up-do (bring in a photo) and that with the blow dry costs £35. They also provide a make-up & party lashes service too (again for extra). I was here alongside my fellow bridesmaid & bride the morning of her wedding and she had paid for us all to have our hair blow dried exactly how we wanted. I chose to have mine big & wavy. Having never been somewhere like this before I was unsure how it would go but upon entering the salon the staff were all super friendly & welcoming and they wasted no time in getting our hair washed straight away. The lady who done my hair was very lovely & chatty and I soon felt at ease there. I always enjoy getting my hair done so having a cheeky wee blow dry for this special day was a real treat. I was offered a drink whilst getting my hair done which was lovely and this salon, being quite new, is bright, airy & modern. I always wish I could recreate that special hairdresser/stylist blow dry...it's magic! The amount of volume & body she managed to give my hair was great - it is now 2 days after my blow dry & my hair still feels fuller! She used big curlers through my hair & also curled it using the straighteners (a technique, I admitted, I can never master being the total straighteners novice I am) and asked if I was wearing a flower of anything in my hair so allowed for that too. Really nice attention to detail. Unfortunately it happened to be an incredibly windy day the day we came here so I did find after about an hour some of my curls had dropped a bit but that's just my hair - it tends to refuse to be curly! Haha! Luckily a fellow bridesmaid had a curling wand on hand so she re-did a few strands for me & I hairsprayed it some more. I had many compliments on my hair that day (and even today I did too!) so I know they done a grand job and the other bridesmaids also looked lovely not to mention the bride herself who looked beautiful. BloDry is a great idea & perfect for those who want that 'just out of the hairdressers' feel but not want to get their hair cut or coloured. I can see by how busy they were that day that this place is going to be, if not already, pretty popular.

No mention of a cuppa or refreshment offered. So then i got my make up done now this was great the girl was friendly and listened to exactly what I wanted and spent lots of time creating my look I wanted the full HD make up.My hair was a bit of a disappointment I asked for big hair look, and out came these metal barrel brushes which were sort of rollered on to my hair and left to hang so I had like 10 brushes hanging off my head which 1 cant be good for my hair as it would surely break it and 2 really uncomfortable and tangled when it was being unravelled. My hair looked okay but no idea why 10 brushes were hanging off my head when some professional heated rollers would have done the same job more professionally with less damage. So going to pay I was charged extra for the HD and lashes which was fine no problem at all but my deposit hadn't been taken off and the pdq card machine was working but they had run out of till roll for it. So about 1 and a half hours later yes my make up was wonderful my hair was okay but it really really lacked professionalism and enthusiasm. Not sure if I would go back which is a shame loved my make up.

We'd been let down by our hairdresser the night before the wedding and somehow found this place online - and so glad we did. We were able to book in online, which was perfect as it was after opening hours. Such a simple online process too. We got there the next day and were met by such lovely welcoming staff. We were sat down at the blow dry bar where we were offered a glass of prosecco, luckily it wasn't me driving so I could accept! The girls were great and so professional, we absolutely loved our hair and got so many compliments at the wedding. They also managed to put some eyelashes on for me even though I hadn't booked in for this. I would, without doubt, go here again. Photos below. --- I would avoid this salon completely! I'd especially would recommend against booking and paying online in advance of your appointment! I prepaid online for a Black Friday deal and attended the salon on a Friday morning with my laptop to show a photo of the colour I wanted (photo below). There was no mirror in front of me during my time at the salon so it was only at the end that I could see just how wrong things had gone. My hair was bright red at the top, then there was a layer of brown, and then much lighter ends (photo below). There was sticky hair dye that hadn't been washed all over my hair line and face and inches into the back of my hair underneath (photos below). I explained to another member of staff that I was extremely disappointed with the colour and that it was nothing like the picture. She said she could try and fix it then and there but that the senior stylist was off sick and she would prefer to wait until she could speak to her as she wasn't sure which of the methods she should use. She even suggested I go to Sally and buy my own materials to fix it or failing that wash it with washing up liquid!!!! I was extremely disappointed as I had a family event in Ireland the next day and I'd have to attend with my hair so awful. Not even the blow dry would be in place as I had to wash the non-removed dye from my hair! I was told I would arrange a refund with her manager. I attended the following Monday for my hair to be fixed. When I arrived the salon was closed and no staff were there. The first person turned up ten minutes AFTER my appointment. I spent five hours there as the person doing my hair was alone and answering calls throughout. Her attempt at fixing my hair was just packing it with highlights. It is nothing like what I asked for and I kept stressing that I wanted a natural look! My hair is now stripy and a huge patch has been missed from the highlights, typically right at the front when my hair is parted (photos below). I explained that my hair had barely been trimmed when I asked for a few inches off and she cut it for me. My hair is now different lengths on either side!!! (photos below). I was again advised that the manager would be in contact with regards to the refund as she wasn't able to process it herself. I never heard back from them and messaged them privately on Facebook. I have been advised by the salon that I am not entitled to a refund because they fixed my hair. To confirm: they didn't fix it! It isn't as bad as when I left the first time in terms of the colour but it is so far from what I asked for and the length is different. This place looks alright for up dos but not for colour and cut. The blow dry I received was so poor, you can see from the photos I took when I was outside the salon that the bounce is already fallen totally flat. They've offered me back 50% of what I paid but I don't think this is fair at all. I want my full refund. It is going to cost me a lot more than what I paid to have this fixed. Also mortifying in the run up to Christmas and my birthday to have been going places with my hair like this.

I've got 99 problems but my hair ain't one of them!…read more Like most ladies, I am slightly obsessed with having good hair. Now what good hair is, will be a subjective point of view, but for me it is manageable and generally shiny and healthy looking as a result of a great cut. I first reviewed Angel Hairdressing about 3 months ago on my first visit. It's a local salon and after standing by it waiting for the bus for 2 years, I decided to give it a go when my budget couldn't stretch to a posh town salon do. So now, it is review No.200 and it had to be a 5 * review. Even though I my last hair cut was 3 months ago - I hadn't actually reached hair crisis point. My style had held perfectly even when growing and it was only as it really started to thicken up again (and growing very quickly) that I decided to cut it back again. It is probably the first hair cut that I've had where I've left a salon, the do has lasted a good few days before I had to wash and dry myself and it has been something I have been able to recreate myself, abet in Claire form, and not hairdresser form. Again - same fab cut. It is a small salon with one sink and 4 chairs. There are two stylists - Lisa who I think is the owner and Kerry who cuts my hair and who I think is fab. Same wet and dry cut as before - still in about 50 minutes even though my shape from last time had still held well, so again, great attention to detail to ensure my hair is perfect. Fab friendly and cheery service and great prices - still £28 for a cut and blow dry and I think it is under £15 for a wash and blow dry. It is not a tea/coffee and a biccy type place but to be honest, I never got the chance to have that any time before as when the cutting starts, that lean forward to get the cuppa could result in hair catastrophe and I'm not stupid enough to risk that. Busy weekend ahead with work and catching up with friends and I'm enjoying my glossy, well cut hair. So Angel Hairdressing, I'm sharing the Yelpy love and making sure my 200th review is a good one :-)

For one, it's absurdly close to my flat, which makes visits and appointments a breeze. Secondly of course would be the lovely staff. I've been served by the same hairdresser both my trips, and she remembered me the second go round, which makes for a pleasant welcome. Size-wise, It's a small joint, but more than enough room for the ladies to perform their miracles, and it feels reasonably homey inside. What seals the deal for me is the prices are totally reasonable--I've seen some places that make my eyes practically roll back in my head around town, and I've never been one to willingly shell out a week's paycheck for my hair. But Angel has fair prices to match the excellent service. My first go featured a simple cut, the second, a full coloring, and I'd give five stars to each venture. This is definitely my go-to salon! Extra perk: I was offered a cup of coffee or tea while waiting for my color to set. Don't mind if I do!
