Now what good hair is, will be a subjective point of view, but for me it is manageable and generally shiny and healthy looking as a result of a great cut. I first reviewed Angel Hairdressing about 3 months ago on my first visit. It's a local salon and after standing by it waiting for the bus for 2 years, I decided to give it a go when my budget couldn't stretch to a posh town salon do. So now, it is review No.200 and it had to be a 5 * review. Even though I my last hair cut was 3 months ago - I hadn't actually reached hair crisis point. My style had held perfectly even when growing and it was only as it really started to thicken up again (and growing very quickly) that I decided to cut it back again. It is probably the first hair cut that I've had where I've left a salon, the do has lasted a good few days before I had to wash and dry myself and it has been something I have been able to recreate myself, abet in Claire form, and not hairdresser form. Again - same fab cut. It is a small salon with one sink and 4 chairs. There are two stylists - Lisa who I think is the owner and Kerry who cuts my hair and who I think is fab. Same wet and dry cut as before - still in about 50 minutes even though my shape from last time had still held well, so again, great attention to detail to ensure my hair is perfect. Fab friendly and cheery service and great prices - still £28 for a cut and blow dry and I think it is under £15 for a wash and blow dry. It is not a tea/coffee and a biccy type place but to be honest, I never got the chance to have that any time before as when the cutting starts, that lean forward to get the cuppa could result in hair catastrophe and I'm not stupid enough to risk that. Busy weekend ahead with work and catching up with friends and I'm enjoying my glossy, well cut hair. Secondly of course would be the lovely staff. I've been served by the same hairdresser both my trips, and she remembered me the second go round, which makes for a pleasant welcome. Size-wise, It's a small joint, but more than enough room for the ladies to perform their miracles, and it feels reasonably homey inside. What seals the deal for me is the prices are totally reasonable--I've seen some places that make my eyes practically roll back in my head around town, and I've never been one to willingly shell out a week's paycheck for my hair. But Angel has fair prices to match the excellent service. My first go featured a simple cut, the second, a full coloring, and I'd give five stars to each venture. This is definitely my go-to salon! Extra perk: I was offered a cup of coffee or tea while waiting for my color to set. Don't mind if I do!

I called this salon on the off chance and guess what they could not only take me in but also at a time which was within an hour of me calling. I arrived there early and was offered a coffee and was even taken in early. The shampooing was nice and relaxing and Sam who cut my hair today was attentive to my needs and did a lovely job at styling and shaping my hair exactly how I wanted it. Definitely up for coming back, just wished the prices were not so high. Extra bonus point for Sam was as I was leaving to find somewhere to shape my brows, my next no appointment mission... I eventually was able to let him know what I wanted and about half way through the haircut I realised he had totally ignored me and done what he wanted. I was really upset as have been growing my hair for about 2 years and he took 4 inches off it, as oppossed to the 1 inch I asked for, he also started using a razor on the back before I stopped him and had to ask him to stop altogether. Leave it to me to find a new hairdresser by following a cute dog…read more.. A few months back, my go-to salon closed down and my fabled hairdresser has yet to find a new place. That meant, for the better half of the last nine weeks, I've looked like a disheveled cat... you'd be surprised how quickly a simple bob can get unruly. I've passed by this place nearly every day and have always been curious, as the signage out front is well done and it only being open Thursday-Sunday with Stockbridge rents, must do pretty well for itself. But it wasn't until I followed big brown puppy dog eyes into the shop that I actually made an appointment. First thing you need to know about this place: George is awesome. George is NOT the owner/stylist, but his ridiculously cute mastiff that will jump up and wiggle butt to greet you when you walk in the door. Within 10 seconds, I was putty and willing to put myself in a chair regardless of price, just to spend an hour with this dang cute dog... it's brilliant marketing when you think about it. So distracted was I by the cuteness of the dog, that I don't actually remember the owners name (sorry!!) but he's super energetic and good chat. I hate awkward silence stylists... Cute dogs and nice humans aside, how was the haircut? A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B... The pros: the cut was fairly priced (£30) and he managed to tame the ridiculously unruly hairline at the back of my neck... a bob is already a tricky thing to do right, but throw in this monster of a hairline and it's a total nightmare to cut. The back of my bob looks spiffy right now. The cons: it took a really long time, over an hour and a half, for the cut - with my schedule, that's not something that falls in a yay category, even if it did mean more dog cuddle time. Plus, the cut isn't has clean as I like it and the fringe is already a bit unruly... partially my own fault for not speaking up or realizing he was doing mini layers (which on fine hair, is the devil)... but a little disappointing nonetheless. Would I go back? Yes. But that has a lot to do with the fact that it's across the street from my house... I don't think it would fall into a destination salon category for me quite yet. However, his men's haircuts look pretty darn spiffy. Cute dog. Clean shop. Good chat. You could do worse...
