Beware of the bait and switch. They advertised their fall rate of $45 for 18 holes with a cart…read more We made tee times for 8 senior golfers, and when we arrived from as far away as 50 minutes, we were charged $50. They should have taken the $45 and told us that the future price would be higher. No apologies were offered. In fact, the Manager (a lady) was rude and arrogant. She claimed they were the cheapest (false) and best conditioned (false) course in the area. I informed her that we play all over the state and she is neither cheap nor top conditioned course. In fact we used to play there 5-10 times a year before they raised the prices nearly 100% over the last 5 years, and only went there today because the advertised price was more reasonable. The course was nearly empty but it was windy. There was no drinking water or ball washers. Leaves were every where. The carts are sub standard. They use yellow flags on the greens and there is no way to know if the pin is in the front back or middle. I play 100 rounds a year and we used to enjoy this course, and considered it a value and centrally located. I understand their costs have gone up but no more than other courses, Our players come from Milford, Oxford, Burlington, The shore line and eastern CT. We are retired on fixed incomes and look for value so we thought we would take a chance with their new advertised fall rate. The regular summer prices here are exorbitant for a course that is no better than average no matter what the manager thinks.

A very nice nine-hole course of par 3's and 4's…read more Miner Hills has a great location between New Haven and Hartford that's pretty easy to find. One of my associations had a twilight golf event here and Miner Hills was terrific to deal with, they easily worked with us on the catering and food service. Super reasonable cost for golf and carts, and we dealt with some very nice people at the pro shop organizing the evening. Yay, I'm a fan!!

A short 9-hole course that's not as easy as you might expect…read more Miner Hills is a family run course (and driving range) that has a very friendly staff. The atmosphere is laid back, as this is very much a course that's welcoming to the general public. It's a Par 30 with six par 3's and three par 4's. Every hole is under 300 yards. However, the par 4 7th is straight uphill and the par 3 before it plays close to 200 yards uphill from the white tees. The course is kept in fairly good condition and there was a crew leaf-blowing when I played there. It's hard to play with a yellow ball and hit into all those leaves! While there are not too many hazards here, most of the fairways and approaches are relatively narrow. There are some small greens too and the slopes can be tough to judge. The prices are fair, but when I saw a deal of $9 for 18 holes and a cart (seriously?!) on GolfNow, I could not pass it up. I believe the rate is usually $21 or so. The cart also had a lot of pep. Probably the fastest cart I've used on any course! I will be coming back here in the future!

The amount of good this place and the owner Jodi does here for the local community - especially the…read moredie hard dedicated golf purists and enthusiasts - simply can't be overstated. When all the other driving ranges or clubs in the area are either private or closed or too expensive, this facility is a true local legend! Always open, even in the rain or snow, year round, with heated overhead bays if you need - and real grass practice area, or even dedicated short game options as well, for serious practitioners during the season. None of the fancy clubs in the area can compare despite their pedigrees. Add to that an actually quality restaurant, pickle ball soon for the more recreational experience, and not even to mention the most friendly and supportive team of maintenance and operating personnel including the owner Jodi who is the very model of small business excellence, and no matter your appetite for activity, you can't go wrong here. I rarely leave reviews, or reviews this long, but I could go on for paragraphs about how truly invaluable a hub of passion and performance this place has been for me and innumerable other local very high level (but budgeted) golfers (all of whom, if you happen to be learning or improving, most likely are so friendly or kind that they'll probably give you free lessons while you're practicing if you ask). It's only a matter of time before the first famous PGA or Korn Ferry or just YouTube professional golfers arise from this place, one of the best kept (though maybe not anymore ha) golf secrets of all Central Connecticut, maybe the whole state. PS. I saw some other folks mentioned a few topics to which I noticed the early lights out seem to have been fixed, and now are on motion detectors, so even if you're the only one there, they go on for the section of driving range you're using, and there seem to be totally new balls put into rotation last year - pretty awesome!

No, sadly, we weren't flown in! However, the parking was superb. We arrived around 8:30 am, proceeded the pro-practice area saw a few favorites of my buddy, as I was still making my list on the fly. I do have to say I wound up favoring my usual underdog, a Scottish chap Martin Laird of Glasgow, Scotland. Starting the day 2 under while the leader Paul Casey was 16 under. Being about 9:00 am the stomachs were grumbling and the food booths were open. Two egg, sausage, and cheese on a croissant and (yes) two Bud Lights a mere $30.00 even. "Say what?" Called out my dwindling wad of cabbage! I was indebted to my friend and this equated nicely. We wandered the remainder of the day seeing a number of the players. Up and down the picturesque rolling hills, halting and whispering when necessary. The course is beautifully designed and maintained. Our morning was cool and cloudy, the afternoon brought sunshine and light humidity. The Travelers, other Sponsors, Organizers, and Volunteers go all out to assure everyone, players and attendees, are well cared for. Such as, numerous Public Facilities, Public Tents with shade, food and beverages, also pricey, unless you have friend/contact with one of the many Corporate Sponsors. All in all, it was a great day. I don't think the golf bug has bitten other than maybe another tournament.
