I only needed a haircut and this was the only chance I got (I am a SAHM with 2 kids and minimal backup except this day) so I said I would consider it but I need a cut now. It was 6 months since my last. That must have just not been the right thing to say bc I was judged, insulted during the entire session and I got the worst haircut of my life. I can't even get it fixed because it is so much shorter than I wanted. There are huge "texture" discrepancies all over my hair, the most obvious being in the back near my neck. There's also a strand of hair far longer than the entire length of my bob cut. I don't even understand how this happened. I'm so traumatized. I would never recommend this place and will never ever come back. I really had 1 chance to get a cut as a treat to myself, since I really don't have extra time to spare. And now I have to live with this until it grows out, definitely more than 6 more months. If I could give -1000 stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and find a salon that can do a nice cut for long AND SHORT hair. WITHOUT A PERM TO MAKE IT ALL STRAIGHT FIRST. The skill level here is just so sub par. The true measure of a business is how it copes when things go wrong, and Chris Chase earned five stars from me when that happened on my first visit. I had booked a color appointment three weeks in advance and showed up at the appointed time, only to be told that it wasn't in the book. The receptionist was sincerely apologetic for the mixup and asked me to take a seat and said Oscar, the colorist, would come over and talk to me. He was fully booked, but he said that he would fit me in right away, as long as I didn't mind some waits while he tended to his other scheduled client. I had no other appointments that day, so I agreed. Not only did he fit me in, but I experienced no noticeable waiting periods other than the expected ones for any color appointment -- the times when you sit and read magazines while your color processes. Oscar himself also deserves five stars. In the consultation, I told him that the highlights I'd gotten before had invariably turned out warmer than I liked. Oscar listened attentively, asked all the right questions, and had the skills to deliver exactly what I asked for: highlights that are ashy but still distinctly blonde, not gray. He also was easy to chat with and was every bit as delighted with my new highlights as I was; it's clear that he loves his work and that making his clients happy makes *him* happy. When I said that the color looked good in the salon lighting but I'd see later how it looked in daylight (the real test), he immediately picked up a mirror and suggested that we go outside together to find out! I am wholeheartedly loving my hair color for the first time in years and will be eagerly looking forward to my next visit with the skillful and sweet Oscar. read more

If you're getting your hair cut, you owe it to yourself to go see John Kovacs. John is a miracle worker. He understands how important it is for your haircut to compliment your features. He takes his time and works meticulously to make sure every hair (literally) is just right. He is truly a master at what he does. In addition to that he is an incredibly warm and open person. I cannot recommend him enough. I recently had him cut bangs for me, and he nailed it. Women who go from no bangs to bangs know how nerve-wracking that transition can be. Bangs are a statement...and one that needs to be done incredibly well. And when I left the salon, they were so well done that I felt as if I'd always had bangs. And if you're getting your hair colored, you owe it to yourself to go see Jenna. Jenna works magic with color. I can vouch for her stellar ability to color both blonde and brown hair. I had her doing a full head of blonde highlights for over a year -- and when I wanted to go to a dark brunette -- she weighed in with advice and suggestions and then delivered an incredibly rich and beautiful color. John and Jenna are a one two punch. It's such a great feeling to go to a salon and be able to relax, knowing that you're in great hands. read more

Oscar is a genius when it comes to hair color. I'm the annoying person who walks into salons with a vague idea of what I want, but mostly all I can say is "make me pretty!' Oscar listened to me describe the ombre I wanted, but he kept it real with his advice on what would be the most flattering based off of the way I style my hair, steering me away from a potentially awful look. He went through pictures with me, and when we finally decided on one, he knew exactly how to bring my hair up to the blonde I wanted with the cooler tone that I like. Despite all the bleach that was necessary (my hair is very dark brown), my hair somehow looks and feels healthier after leaving the salon. I have trust issues when it comes to people doing my hair, but I literally can't recommend Oscar enough. Not to mention, the full Chris Chase experience is luxurious in the best way. The interior is beyond beautiful, the receptionists are super sweet, they always take care of you by offering beverages or bringing you magazines while you wait for your hair to process, and the stylists make for great conversation! read more

5 stars for Adolfo and this salon! I've been getting my hair cut and colored by Adolfo for the better part of 5 years and I couldn't say more positive things about him and his work, along with the salon and their impeccable service. I'm not one to stray too much in terms of style or color, but he always gives the perfect cut and the most beautiful color. I have very fine, straight hair, so imperfections easily show, and he's alway amazing! I consistently receive tons of compliments on his work. Aside from his amazing cuts and color, he's also one of the easiest people to talk to while you're enjoying a 2 hour sit down! As for the salon overall, it's a great experience, from the cut and color with Adolfo, to the wash station with Kishi and anyone else, to the champagne and coffee depending on the mood - it's all fabulous. The experience and result are worth your trip to Adolfo's chair and this great salon. No hesitation to the 5 stars for the best salon and stylist! read more

Carlos at The Chris Chase salon is the BEST... In fact, he's so good, I even allow him to cut my boyfriend's hair! After many disappointing hair experiences, I've finally met a professional who listens and understands how to cut and color my curly hair. A while back, the Chris Chase salon was recommended, but not a hairstylist. After reading his many positive reviews on Yelp, I chose to take a chance and book an appointment with Carlos. The risk paid off. I've been going to Carlos every month for about 4 months now. After my first visit, I felt relaxed and very pleased with the results. Since that first visit, I trust him to do what's best for me. He never disappoints! My hair cut suits my lifestyle and personality. I had been searching for a new stylist and came across the Chris Chase salon and Carlos Gonzales. From the moment we met, Carlos was very attentive and asked exactly what I was looking for, if I had pictures, etc (he actually likes that-some stylist don't). I explained the color (platinum) and said I was really looking for something new in terms of style. We then looked at some styles and discussed what would looked good (and not so good) on me. Carlos is a perfectionist and checked how the color was processing every few minutes to make sure it was coming out exactly right, as I had indicated I did not any yellow or silver tones. It turned out PERFECTLY! Just the shade of platinum I wanted. The cut was superb-just right amount of "messy" that I was looking for. He also took the time to go over which products were best for the style and how to achieve the look at home. If you want THE.BEST.HAIR.EVUH, go see Carlos! read more

I've been to Dennis three times now and I can say I am a happy camper with all of my results. Not only does he give AMAZING haircuts, his work with color is impeccable. White Hart first attracted me because of James. I used to visit James when he was at Sally Hershberger for cuts and keratin, but then when he moved over to a different salon, I stopped going to see him (not because of James, but rather because I found the front desk staff and assistants very rude there and it was impossible to get an appointment). When I heard that James had opened his own salon, I was thrilled. I was able to book an appointment with ease through their easy to use system. White Hart is conveniently located in on 22nd off the A,C,E 23rd street stop. The salon is in the basement but well marked so easy to find and because it isnt right on the street, I found the salon to be quiet - it almost felt a little spa like. Another bonus is that they use R&Co products which I love and unlike some keratin products, the keratin they put on my hair could be washed that same day (although I waited 24 hours). The salon has great sonos speakers and since I was the first appointment of the day, James let me choose the playlist. The best part is that there is a little garden so when I was done with my appointment, I sat outside and finished my coffee and sent some emails. It has been a week and I am very happy with my keratin and cut and have received several compliments. I plan to come back for keratin and also blowouts and cuts.

She's efficient with time, offers unique and engaging conversations and makes you feel extremely welcome. The salon space itself is lovely.
