Very poor customer service and management. On Saturday, August 29, I ordered 30 cups of Iranian tea for $74 and paid an additional $100 refundable deposit for the container. I returned the container approximately three hours later. An employee told me the deposit would be refunded that night, but it was not. On Wednesday, four days later, I called to follow up. I was again promised that the manager would issue the refund that evening, but nothing happened. I called again on Thursday and received the same promise, yet the money was still not returned. On Friday afternoon, after nearly a week and several broken promises, I called again and firmly questioned why it was taking so long to return my money. Only after I said I would visit the restaurant in person to ask it in front of other customers, I finally receive the refund within 10 minutes. If the refund could be completed in 10 minutes, without manager, why was I made to wait nearly a week and repeatedly call for my own money? Although I eventually received the $100, the way this was handled was completely unacceptable. Customers should not have to make repeated calls or become upset to recover a refundable deposit after returning the container as agreed. I am sharing this experience to make future customers aware: if you pay a refundable container deposit, obtain a written receipt, document when you return the container, and confirm exactly when and how the refund will be issued. Inside this market is attached an Indian restaurant. This market is one of the cleanest markets and well organized produce. I've ever seen reminds me of a 99 ranch or H Mart market strictly for Indian food whoever is responsible for maintenance. Kudos to them because this market is ultra clean. I took pictures of some of the frozen foods that I decided to buy and noticed that there was a restaurant attached to the market so I went inside and order two meals Chicken Tikka and Gongura Goat. Each meal comes with Indian rice and one piece of naan bread. The naan bread is nice and chewy definitely fresh. It is not frozen which I really appreciate. I do wish that there was an option to make it garlic or cheese naan. The rice is normal nothing crazy really good Indian rice. But the star of the dish is the Gongura Goat. For under $15 for the curry, the rice and the goat it's a good deal. It's not the best deal because my curry didn't come with enough goat. There was just a few few piece pieces not enough to fill me up. The curry is very flavorful but extremely oily. I know they cook it with ghee and there's just mounds of it so when you mix it together with the curry, my mouth is just covered and beautiful rich, dark, earthy, funky curry. The goat meat is extremely tender, but the sad part is, not enough meat. The chicken tikka masala every restaurant sells chicken tikka masala. I've had it plenty of different ways, I would say this one is another good example. Chicken may be priced cheaper in the market because the restaurant tended to give me more chicken this time and the tikka curry was flavorful. We ordered a full meal dinner from here recently - veg manchurian, malai kofta, chicken biryani, chicken curry and garlic naan. The food was delicious although quite spicy. Spicy flavors in biryani and a kick in manchurian sauce makes sense but every dish including malai kofta had an extra amount of garam masala. Malai kofta gravy is traditionally supposed to be mild or sweetish so although the curry was tasty, it was not very authentic and could have done with less spice. Garlic naan was fresh. read more

Deceptive practice. The advertised prices in the menu displayed on the walls is not what they charge when you checkout. Went in for the first time last night. Ordered a tea and a snack. Upon checking the receipt found that the price for snack is higher than what was displayed. When I asked the response was "whats at register is the correct price!". And without any emotion or concern and the cashier brushed it aside as if I am blocking the next one in line. So arrogant and will never be back at this ripoff of a place that cant even do the basic thing right. Delicious spicy food! Do your homework before you order so you know what you want. They are nice and do their best to cater to you. However, it can be confusing if you are not familiar with this cuisine. It was busy too! You shouldn't be disappointed in the taste of the food! It's set up as a take-out restaurant with seating if you want to dine in. There is outdoor seating as well. I had the Goat and at a medium spice level, which is spicy for most Americans. So let them know what spice level you want. I would recommend a 2 or 3 on a scale of 1 to 5 if you like spicy. Garlic or butter Naan is the best as well, in my opinion. All these new Indian places are popping up around the Leander, Cedar Park areas, and we keep hoping they can beat Lali son. This one was not great, which was surprising. Placed an online order, and it was ready quicker than they said. The woman working at the register was kind of friendly, the guys who were over in the kitchen area were rude as hell. All the food had clearly been made earlier and was just sitting in warming trays before they box it up. Nothing really tasted fresh, I like things spicy but my family does not and all of these dishes were supposed to be mild but were definitely on the spicy side. Chicken dishes were half meat and half fatty junk pieces that should have been thrown away before cooking but were left in to make it look like bigger portions. Won't be going back sadly. read more

Chowrastha was a disappointment in every way imaginable. The space is cramped, uncomfortable, and not very clean. There's no service to speak of. The food was below average. I ordered a paneer Frankie and think it was probably the worst Frankie I've ever eaten. For some strange reason they used grated paneer, not paneer cubes like you would expect in a Frankie. 100% this place deserves five negative stars. I have no doubt that they've been the cause of some very real food related sickness with food poisoning. I don't know how they're permitted to operate, seriously. I read another reviewer say health officials had closed them down previously. Not surprising. The staff behind the counter were clueless. And the food - Oh my word. It looked like it had been sitting in the trays for days. I wouldn't feed it to any living creature. We didn't dare order a thing but just wanted to flee. In fact, we turned to leave when we were given two samosas to sample, which we promptly threw out driving away... they smelled entirely revolting, like old nasty rancid oil. They were literally borderline gag worthy. No exaggeration. I can only imagine the intestinal nightmare waiting had we eaten just one tiny bite. The samosa itself was the smallest thing we'd seen. Compared to a normal sized samosa they were tiny. But whether size matters is another thing. In closing, we're huge lovers of Indian food. Have been for decades. Update 03/21/23: this place is really unhygienic and unhealthy. Today while we were waiting for our take out food, I noticed their cleaning staff wiped the trash bin. Then she continued to wiped all the tables and the areas with the plates, and silverware with the same cloth that she used to clean the trash bin. It's not even been a couple of weeks since they were shut down because of multiple health code violations, you'd think they would take the violations more seriously. We had a late lunch here. We were obviously very hungry and wanted to try this new restaurant in the neighborhood. We ordered Irani chai Paneer Frankie Chicken Tikka Frankie Baby corn Manchurian Dahi puri Chai is exceptional. Dahi puri was not great though. The rest of the dishes are nothing but oily. Oil has been dripping off of Frankie and doesn't taste great though. Baby Manchurian was even worse. We had to throw the entire dish after tasting 2 pieces. It was nothing but oil and baby corn was under cooked. Hope they improve it soon. read more

When we finally got our order it was the wrong food as they completely messed up our order. We specifically asked and told the lady for it not to be spicy and it was extremely spicy. Unfortunately there is no negative star to give. We were there today, the name of the restaurant is somewhat accurate but it should have been Chowrastha without signal lights. The place is so disorganized from taking the orders to delivering or serving. Employees behind the payment terminal look clueless and look confused. Food was salty, it's not a pinch of salt but look like they did put a brick of salt in my dish. One of the employee is serving panipuri to patrons and then going back to the general table to eat food, not sure if she realized that she forgot her wallet after eating the food or while eating. I have ordered from here 4 different times. We always order the chicken tika masala. They ask us every time what spice level we would like and I say one medium ( for my husband) and one with none( for me). Every time we get the food, the spicy level is insane. Like your mouth is burning after eating. Why even ask what spice level you like if you don't make it to your customer's needs? read more
