Yeah if your giving this place 5 stars you have definitely never been to a good decent buffet. Floors are grimy and slippery not the cleanest. I got angel noodles and they were stiff and cold. Nothing was hot-hot. Very few fresh items. I think $17 for dinner is not worth it for the few options. Service was good for a party our size. Ummm... the people giving this 4+ stars I'm convinced has never tried actual Chinese (for what's it worth in America) and eats Panda Express. This place was literally the second worst Chinese I've ever had. And I have tried it more than once! I give it another go every 5 years and it always disappoints. Yes, they do have a nice selection. My family and I came in today and I was paying with cash for my daughter and I and leaving the tip on my dads card as he was paying for his and my moms. I sever got mad and started saying no tip no tip , out no tip on table!?!? ! I told her we was going to tip with the card. She gave me an evil look and said no you paid with cash and stormed off. All she did was refill our cups one time. But we all still were going to tip as it's the norm but for her to pretty much demand a tip was completely insane!! I normally don't eat Chinese buffets, So when checking online you can't find the price. When you call the restaurant they don't answer. So we haven't even tried it before. Recently they updated their FB page with prices. The lunch price seemed reasonable enough so we stopped in for lunch. Only after eating in an overcrowded establishment did we get the ticket. Not what they posted on FB. A great deal more honestly. Apparently hidden behind the long line of people is a poster board with hand written notes on it saying on the weekends they don't have lunch, only all day dinner prices. However, the food was bountiful, hot and very good They had lots of customers for that time of day, so I think they must be doing something right. Be hungry when you go here as it's buffet style and there is a lot of alright food . Walk slowly around here as there is also a lot of food on the floor ! If you want cheap sushi they will make you wait for it , as they only give you 6-8 pieces at a time yet they don't charge you extra as some buffets do for not eating all of the rice which we all know will fill you up and you will see some very large ppl going to eat here . If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The food was so bad, that after 2 bites each by 3 of us, we decided that we didn't want to eat there. Combined we had one half of a plate of food. I offered to give them $15 so we could end the transaction amicably. Nope. They demanded $30 or they were calling the police. So I let them. Once the police got there they demanded $45. I don't understand the negative reviews. I almost didn't try it since there were so many low reviews. I decided to try it and was very pleasantly surprised. The hostess was very cordial as was the server. There was plenty of food on the buffet and I ended up eating too much since I wanted to try as many different things as possible. I didn't try the hibachi grill but I think it's probably good too. The dining area was very clean, and my server wiped off the table before I sat down even though it was already clean. Possibly deterred by some negative reviews, we decided to forge on ... and y'know, the buffet was as good last night as we found it several years ago. Let me start by citing their 100% inspection rating. (I don't know that I've seen that in many restaurants!) We came pretty late in the evening, expecting to find diminished offerings -- but there was plenty to be had, including spareribs! The old fashioned kind of spareribs that I had growing up in Brooklyn! The hot n' sour soup -- my usual gauge of a Chinese restaurant -- was fine, as was everything we tried. I think prices are reasonable, and the family who owns the restaurant, very nice. I wouldn't go to a place like this for American food -- but I noticed that a number of their clientele does. it was the worst experience I've ever had. they had nothing on the hibachi grill no shrimp, chicken, broccoli and most vegetables were down to scraps and when I told management they said they have to go to the store to get them and it would be 15 minutes before they would have them. so my husband finished eating while I had to wait and they was told well he could go while i eat.. what?/ and when they still didn't have things out in 15 minutes I was told I could pay and go somewhere else next time. poor service management and food. yes I paid I didn't want free I wanted food but I didn't get that either I was told to look for something else to eat and get over it. read more

Happened upon this joint while we were in Georgia visiting family, and I must say...for your average run of the mill chinese buffet..it wasn't half bad. First thing I noticed as we walked in was that, quite shockingly, it was impeccably clean. From the buffet stations, to the floor, to even the bathrooms...quite impressive. The space alone is HUGE with 2 large dining rooms...not surprising since its located near a college campus. Valdosta, Georgia is pretty small, and while I'm not yet acquainted with the more preferred dining establishments around the area, Chow Town Buffet turned out to be a pretty good find. Food: 6 main buffet stations, plus separate stations for sushi, hibachi, and dessert. Large selection, including raw oysters (which mom loved), plus a few standard american dishes (pizza, fried chicken, etc.)....OH and lets not forget the frogs legs. Which brings me to this: FROGS LEGS??? Hell NO. I mean, I could never EVER picture myself hanging out with friends and saying "Damn, I'm starving, I could TOTALLY tear up a plate of frogs legs right now!" I don't care if it's a delicacy or not, when I saw those frogs legs at the buffet, I almost lost my appetite just thinking about all those poor froggies out there rolling around in wheelchairs...shameful....ok now where was I?... Oh yes, the food. Quality? Nothing spectacular. Hibachi (chicken, pork, and/or steak with ample mix-ins) was good, but not great, according to my stepfather, who went on to say that the sauce he picked out (garlic) was too salty. Mom loaded her plates up with seafood...some I recognized...most I didn't. I don't eat seafood, so it's hard to tell which sushi is which and what fish is what, but I can say that she was very full when we left, and I heard no complaints during the meal...thank God. As for myself, I didn't go for anything out of the ordinary. Sesame chicken, fried rice, eggrolls, chicken broccoli, won ton soup, etc. It was all average tasting, definitely not the worst I've had, so like I said before...not half bad. Service: Lightening quick with the drink refills, and clearing the dishes from the table each time we stood up. Hostess at the front (didn't see a nametag) was super friendly as well. In Closing: $4.99 buffet price from monday through friday, which is great if you're nearby, starving, and on a budget. I'm sure there are better places to eat in the vicinity, but I'll catch up with those on future trips. Chow Town Buffet had a nice atmosphere, ok food, and polite staffmembers, and it's hard to come across all 3 qualities in ANY buffet, let alone a chinese one. Okay - so first things first. Quickly seated on a Saturday evening at 6:30pm. They take your drink orders at the podium before even getting seated, a bit odd, but lets the server bring drinks while you're grazing. Most of the food appeared to be of decent quality and correct serving temperature. Selection is amazing. Also have the Hibachi grill so pick your ingredients and they cook them. So-you'll get a good Chinese buffet meal (all you can eat) at a fair price. But-remember why buffets were closed down during covid?-I do. So, watched 2 kids grazing while parents were off somewhere else. You know how squiggly jello is-so hard to get on the spoon and onto your plate. Those kids know-they dropped half of it on the buffet, picked it up with their hands and put it back in the jello tray. Love it. Adults are no better. Lo Mein is so slippery, put it on your plate and some of it dangles-most people just grab the strands with tongs and flip it on the plate-nope-what I saw was a lady use her fingers to pull the strands down and . . . drop into the lo mein serving tray for some other lucky diner. And the guy that dropped the hard boiled egg slices?-No one looks down (not even the guy with the dustpan and broom.) It was on the floor for at least 10 minutes.
