It's reasonably priced - around $4 for a breakfast sandwich, and $6-7 for lunch items (pulled pork or meatball sandwiches, mango habanero chicken, etc). I approached the cart wanting a breakfast sandwich, but the guy told me they were out of eggs... so I then asked for a pulled pork sandwich, but they were out of that too! I decided to go with the mango habanero chicken, which was a rice platter that had chicken topped with mango habanero sauce, corn, peas, and bits of carrot and green beans. It was really delicious but a bit too spicy for me... luckily the guy offered me a free drink with my meal since he felt bad about being out of the things I wanted. I'd recommend it as a good place to grab lunch. Hopefully I will be able to try their out-of-stock items sometime! Note: they don't seem to have a website, but this is their twitter: http://twitter.com/17thStHomestyle

The quality of the food is that of a restaurant and not a lunch cart at all. The pulled pork tasted like it came right out of a Memphis BBQ restaurant. The guy working the truck told me he was also the owner and that he makes the food fresh everyday. Everything was under $10 so it was great to grab and go to bring back to the office. My only complaint was that he didn't have a soft pretzel to go perfectly with my sweet pulled pork sandwich. I am definitely making this a regular lunch spot for me and my co-workers in the city.

And yeah, we jokingly ask whether you're eating cat or dog when we see you with a skewer. But, no joke, while that little guy's kabobs may be simple, they are even more simply the BOMB. For $2 you get 4-6 pieces of chicken or beef, freshly grilled, with onions. On a stick. I don't know about you, but for me, put just about anything on a stick and not only will I eat it, I'll most likely love it and beg you for more. Some of my co-workers swear by the beef, but, personally, I recommend the chicken. Always juicy, always savory, if you want more than just those deliciously clean, natural flavors he'll squirt a little homemade, tastes-like-Chinese, bbq sauce on there for you (yum). Either way, you will be happy. For the last 2 months or so, I've been trying to convince him to start skewering potatoes, too, so that I can just get my whole dinner there. And cheaply. But he just doesn't seem to understand me... Or maybe it's just so much effort and I'd be the only one who wanted them? He also sells white bread and cornbread, but to neither of which can I speak. Waiting for the bus? In a rush and in dire need of genuinely FAST food (as in under 30-45 seconds per transaction)? The Chicken & Beef Kabob cart is for you! ****PRICES CHANGED MARCH 2012-- from $2 a skewer to $2.25 chicken and $2.50 beef; $3 with bread for either...****

At least for the food…read more The first time I ordered here, I had the black widow roll (spider roll, with spicy tuna on top, jalepeno). I remember the roll being a decent size. It was delicious besides the jalepeno which was a lot more spicy than I expected it to be, which was surprising because I can normally take a lot of heat. I thought it was a ok! The second time, I had the wild mushroom and chicken dumplings as well as the flaming tuna. Originally I had wanted the curry chicken or the pork dumplings, but they ran out. I'm not sure why, it doesn't seem as though they are extremely busy, so I was disappointed that they would offer it on the menu and not actually have it in stock. The dumplings were decent and really tasted of mushroom, but reminiscent of frozen dumplings. The flaming tuna roll was a sore disappointment. Although it was tasty (and mouth burningly spicy), it was extremely tiny. Each piece had the same radius of a quarter. I also pulled one piece apart, and found why my mouth was burning unpleasantly. There was more jalepeno than tuna! That is ridiculous. I did not order a flaming tuna roll for the jalepeno. I was not happy. The service was decent. There was a worker who seemed to be new there but she was distracting because she kept getting on and off the truck. The other boy who was there was nice, and made it a point to apologize for the wait and to explain how much longer it would take. I understand that this place is cheaper than the usual sushi place, but that should not be an excuse for the smaller size AND the amount of fish in the roll. I'm just glad that they at least have a great beverage selection. Blood orange San pelle. If I am ever at this truck again, it will only be for that drink.

Why do they even have them on the menu if the person making the sushi isn't going to take consideration to pay attention to what he's making. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. And it makes me not want to go there if they aren't going to give me what i ordered the first time and have to come back out and tell them to make it again. I order the scorpion roll with cucumbers (only comes with shrimp tempura, avocado and tobiko.) I paid $5.50 and tipped them bc the lady is always so nice and remembers my name. But I got back into Beury and realized there was no tobiko, and no cucumber. Being that it was freezing, I didn't go back outside, but I hate having to think about checking my food, when it should be right the first time. I paid for all these things and more, and got only half. smh...Idk if I'll ever go back. If I do though, I'm gonna be angry if they mess up my order again. BOTTOM LINE: When ordering PLEASE make sure to check your food. They already give you tiny pieces compared to last fall's sushi, at least get what you ordered.

Food trucks have come a long way and some of the best eats will be from trucks, especially in Philly. Street Food Philly came down to the Navy Yard on this lovely spring day and everything on the menu sounded delicious. My stomach can only hold so much during lunchtime so I got the black angus beef quesadilla and the truffle parm fries. Amazing!! I typically like my fries on the thinner side but they put just the right amount of truflle oil and freshly grated parmesan cheese that I didn't mind the thickness. The quesadilla was filled with perfectly seasoned ground beef, pico, and cheese. The meal was quite on the heavy side so I was only able to finish half of my meal. I'll be heating it up in about 2 hours. I tried picking it up to eat with my hands but it got quite messy. The filling kept falling out and luckily, I was all alone at my desk that no one saw me shoving my fingers into my mouth to get all of the goodness in there. I eventually became civilized and grabbed a fork to eat like a normal human being. Hope they came back so I can try out some of the other creations.

The food truck biz is definitely growing here in Philly. I saw the attractive bright green truck lined up amongst the others on 33rd street, central to Drexel students path to school. I saw their short but attractive menu posted on a white board and mulled it over for a couple minutes. The roasted lamb sandwich stood out to me with its Mediterranean influence, so I went with it. The owner, Mike, was friendly and chatted me up. He told me they had just roasted the lamb the previous night and that their menu constantly changes according to what they have available. HIs partner, Carolyn, is a friendly American-Vietnamese lady and they are just great! The sandwich was absolutely to die for!! I could not stop raving about it after I had it and immediately sent pictures, instagramed and advocated it to all of my friends. It definitely wasn't just lunch truck quality, but high restaurant quality. The meat was juicy and tender and the sauce topped it all off. There was just the right amount of feta cheese and olives- I don't even like olives and I very much enjoyed it in this sandwich. I even got my friend to go to their truck the same day and she got their pork tacos, which were also delish! I went back a second time yesterday and got the clam and oyster chowder, which was less creamy and more salty than for my liking. They were running out of a lot of their items since it was later in the day, and I was recommended the turkey sandwich. It has beans and a fried egg on top, but I ate it when it was cold so I can't say I liked it very much. I won't doubt their other items though. I heard the banh mi is pretty good, so I'll definitely be returning to try everything else!
