Tacos Don Memo - Medium al pastor Burrito

I graduated from college years ago, but I visited campus recently and had to check out how my…read morefavorite lunch spot was doing. I was surprised to see what was once a minimalistic metal cart had upgraded into a shiny red truck! The old phone number I had saved still worked to make an advance order, and when I showed up and took a photo of the new truck, the guy inside said, "been a while since you were here?" Been a while indeed. My spice tolerance has improved a lot since my first review; by the end of college I was getting medium instead of mild, which I also got this most recent time, but I think I can actually handle spicy now and will make a note to do that next time. The burrito is still the best I've ever had, and that includes what I ate in the Mission of SF. An absolutely enormous portion with juicy meat, cheese, salsa, pico, lettuce, rice, beans, and even a generous helping of avocado. And the tortilla is seared on the grill just right, giving it an extra crisp while sealing the whole package together. Not many burritos have all the details down so perfectly like that. Anyone who works or studies near Tacos Don Memo is lucky to have such an authentic, delicious, and affordable Mexican lunch spot around. They've been around for a while and I hope they will be for a while more!

Chicken burrito (3.5/5) I wanted to love this burrito since I've heard such good things about this food truck. The burrito was delicious but I felt like it needed way more sauce for its size. I also got the "hot" sauce and didn't taste anything spicy at all in it. the chicken was great and the flavor was good overall but it was definitely on the drier side. If i come again I'll try a burrito bowl if possible instead, and i'll definitely try to order online or call ahead instead of waiting 30 minutes again

Terry's is my go-to for a cheap cheesesteak in UCity. The first time I went, I was pleased with the…read morequality of the cheesesteak for its value. I wanted to go back again but couldn't remember what the food cart was called, tried looking it up on Yelp, and didn't find a listing for it. I went back on Spruce Street to look for the truck today and decided to list their business on Yelp for them. Terry's is quite popular--today, I watched a family in a van park along the street, send a child out to buy couple cheese steaks and drinks at the cart, and drive away. It's definitely a good sign when someone goes out of their way to come here, as most food cart customers purchase food from these carts because they are within walking distance. There is also always a line at lunchtime, so make sure you arrive either a little earlier before noon or after 1. Terry's offers a variety of breakfast and lunch items at a very reasonable price. A plain steak is $4, and a cheesesteak is $5 (onions at no cost, and generous amount of cheese as well as steak). The thing I like about Terry's steaks the most is that they don't fall apart in your hand when you take them out of the wrapper; steak joints like Pat's and Geno's make them so ridiculously greasy that the bread gets soggy before you even open the wrapping. On top of being delicious and reasonably priced, the two men who usually work at the food cart are always incredibly friendly and courteous.

To be candid, my usual go-to food truck for cheap sandwiches is Lyn's, but I haven't seen the cart…read moresince the beginning of the semester. I gave Terry's a try and I'm pleasantly surprised. Terry's is usually on 36th and Spruce Street. Kudos to them for staying open even during the midst of a pandemic and during the cold weather. The cart accepts both cash and Venmo (for purchases $7 or more), which is a huge plus. The person who worked the truck was friendly and asked politely about how I'd like to customize my sandwich. I got mushroom, spinach, egg, cheese, and sausage on a roll ($5). For the price and quantity of the food, I have no complaints. I liked how soft the bread was and Terry's doesn't skimp on ingredients. My only gripe would be that Lyn's is just a bit cheaper. TLDR: A comparable substitute for Lyn's and the place to go if you're looking for cheap, yummy sandwiches. Cash and Venmo (for purchases $7 or more) accepted.

Possibly the best food truck in university city. Fabulous meats…read more Try a different meat each time you come by. It's just fabulous. The picana beef to die for. Rice and beans with salad. Chicken wrapped in bacon. Grilled pineapple.

That absolutely shouldn't carry the name "Brazilian." I went to the Philadelphia Brazilian Festival…read moreand got excited to see a food truck offering a Brazilian plate. As soon as I opened my plate, I was so disappointed that I lost my appetite. The rice was flavorless, the beans tasted like they came from a can, and the lettuce had no seasoning and had a terrible cheese on top of it. The meat was tough and flavorless, and I spent a good minute chewing because it was so hard. It was the worst $15 I've ever spent--I wouldn't even pay $2 for that meal. Terrible! If you're going to carry the name "Brazilian" on your food truck, PLEASE do it right. Even if it wasn't supposed to be Brazilian, it was still a terrible meal. On top of that, I waited more than 20 minutes for it to be made, along with several other people who were also complaining about the wait time. I will never get anything from this food truck again and do not recommend it to anyone.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Tangs's: Fresh. The second? Super friendly…read more I came across Tang's during my usual stake out of food trucks during lunch hour and decided to order a beef and broccoli over brown rice. What I was expecting was the run of the mill Chinese take out version of beef and broccoli: semi tough beef and overcooked broccoli swimming in grease and a large quantity of brown sauce. To my great delight what I got was the complete opposite - the beef was tender and the broccoli was a lively green and incredibly fresh. There was a light and just right amount of sauce and great helping of chili oil. The lady running the truck is so friendly, welcoming & nice (a stark contrast to the lady at Yue Kee). The wait is short and the prices are impressively cheap. Looking forward to coming back and trying the other items on their expansive menu!

I tried Tang's tofu with garlic/curry on brown rice…read more The best part is that the dish included a substantial serving of real vegetables. There was carrot, broccoli, cabbage, celery, and a bit of onion and green pepper (1 slice). There were 8 pieces of fried tofu in an extremely mild and not very flavourful "curry" sauce. Brown rice option comes at no extra cost. ($3.50) This seems to be one of the better options for Chinese food on campus. There's plenty of vegetables, it's not especially greasy. While the food wasn't particularly flavourful, it was fairly good clean food with a good helping of vegetables.
