I was so excited to try out this highly recommended gem that's a short distance from my apartment. Sadly I didn't have as great of an experience. I'm very used to the laid back serving approach here in Mexico, but alas I wasn't greeted warmly or even asked if I'd like to place an order. No big deal! i went to the front and ordered, and was then provided with a delicious salmon benedict, latte, sweetbread and delicious fresh-squeezed orange juice. All in all, the food was fabulous, but the service and feeling as I was being tolerated, not welcomed served soured my trip to this cafe. I was so lucky to have booked my apartment in Playa De Carmen down the street from this hidden gem. If you were casually walking past you might miss it due to it being shaded by the store's plants. The restaurant itself has a very cool vibe. It reminded me of a tiki hut with it's natural decoration and relaxed ambiance. During my stay I had brunch at this place every single day. Nothing that I had disappointed. From their iced almond milk lattes, to their farm fresh ghee. I highly recommend splitting your meal with someone or just indulging in a savory and sweet option for yourself. Definitely get the pan frances and the poached eggs on avocado toast. The owner's friend bottles her own hot sauce that she serves. We bought some to back to the states because it was that good. read more

I ended up going a second time during our trip as well, both times my food was delicious. Horrible service. Very hipster, younger crowd - looked like a great place to eat. When we were there, it was 60% full. Had to beg someone to pay attention to seat us. Once seated we waited another 5 minutes for a menu. We read the menu forever, closed them and waited and wauted and waited for someone to take out order - never happened. after 30 minutes in this place we got up and walked out - never seen a more disorganized group of people ever. Oddly, the restaurant name is even hard to find outside the building. Might be a good place to eat - but i didnt have all day to find out. read more

I am a solo female traveler almost 50 years old but in no way "old lady doesn't belong here looking". I went into the front counter and waited to be seated, several young waiters walked by me and didn't say anything so i waved one down and said do i just seat myself? He says oh yes sit anywhere his coworker is now with him. I say ok I'll sit at the bar on the deck thinking I won't take up a table. They say oh no take that table it's special. Now this table is at the very end of the deck. I say that is a special table they say yes yes very special. So i take my walk of shame to the end table. There are other tables open, it has a wrap around deck but ok. I'm starting to feel not to great at this point but ok I'll sit and see. Now I'm sitting there waiting for a menu or and acknowledgement of some sort, NOTHING. The guy who told me to sit was rushing past to a back area that circles back into the restaurant. I said can i please get a menu, I thought this was so special right here, he says oh it is. Now no offense to the busboy that he goes and tells to bring me a menu, which he does and is very nice. I was really starting to feel like I was in HS and the mean girls were jerking me around in the cafeteria. I really almost felt like crying. Instead I just got up and walked out with my head held high. They'll never see my business, because apparently I'm not hip enough to dine there. Have eaten there twice and really like the place. The coffee is great! Way better than Starbucks, and the servers are super friendly and efficient. Eggs Benedict was great, although perhaps could have been cooked a tad more and toasted the muffin. The side salad was also excellent with a really tasty dressing. We discovered this restaurant for lunch as we are renting an apartment a block away. It is definitely a winner. Great vibe, pretty place, and delicious food. I had the spinach quiche which was a good size and delicious. The crust tasted homemade. It came with potatoes or a small side salad. We had very attentive and friendly service. The price we paid for two lunches was most reasonable. We are here for a few more days and will definitely return. It is nice to get away from the tourist area and Mexican food. read more

A very cute place with both indoor and fairly extensive outdoor seating wrapping around the side. I had the house special eggs that came w beans and a nice homemade hotsauce and some potatoes. I really want to like this place. The food is good. It's close to my condo. But at breakfast the other day, service, well, SUCKED. Food took way to long (and no, it was not busy). Order was wrong. Salt and pepper? 10 minutes after requesting. And the pepper mill was empty. Butter? 20 minutes after being requested. By then, I was finished eating. And the butter was frozen solid. C'mon guys! The food is good but the service requires serious improvement. I really write this review in hope that you will improve the service and take care of your customers. Its my second time here but I'm not willing to go back just because it takes FOREVER the food and beverages to be served and the order is not respected. The first day they took long to serve but I thought maybe just a bad day. But now, I see its a system.Just for example: I ordered kombucha , coffee and quiche. My husband ordered : croissant, cappuccino, tartine and juice. I asked the waiter to serve kombucha before food. So I seat and wait, and wait and wait. After , 25 minutes they served me quiche. And a croissant to my husband. We asked about our drinks and were told they are no ready. So, I wait again. After another 10 minutes, I started my meal. So , basically the drinks were served 40 minutes after the initial order! When I was almost done with my meal. And they brought a wrong flavor of kombucha. Seriously? My husband's meal were served after 45 minutes of waiting. I was working in the restaurant business and let met tell you and I know when something doesnt work properly. If you take 40 minutes to make a capuchino, americano and a kombucha - PLEASE employ another barrista, get extra help! And please never serve food before the drinks... its so rude... such a shame for such a good cuisine and decorations to not have happy customers. :/ I hope you will listen and do something about it. read more
