Great beans, great roast. Just need to learn the difference between a long black and a long macchiato.

As the Urban sprawl envelopes the area, it's only logical that the demand for places like The Firehouse would pop up, and from what I've seen, the place is in high demand. Every time I have been here it has been fully booked up, and deservedly so. The food is fantastic, the service is quite good, and the menu boasts dishes you won't find anywhere else in Ringwood. For an experience such as this however, there is a cost. The Firehouse is also one of the most expensive places to eat in the area, with a lunch consisting of one meal, one drink and a coffee chalking up an easy $40. I was there last week, and had the omelette for lunch, with a beer and a coffee. The omelette was sensational, full of Italian cheese and sautéed mushrooms. Not oily or overly salty, it was a good lunch size and left room for me to check out the superb dessert menu. With a group of 8 of us, I must note that the service was great until the desserts came out, and we were given another tables order. This left a couple of us with no dessert, and the staff were forced to come and apologize, then leave those without dessert waiting until well after the rest of us were finished until they received theirs. We were compensated with free coffee though, which was nice.

The last of the restaurants is the Firehouse, a rather posh looking establishment with vines on the walls and big glass windows to look out to the road. While not the most appealing of sights, it does fill the space with amazing light. I'd recommend this as the special occasion eatery rather than simply a spot to grab a bite. The meals are pricey, so if you're after something small head to the shopping centre. The ambiance and service of the place, however, is amazing, along with after dinner drinks in a lounge area found upstairs. The staff are wonderful and good at recommending dishes and prompt delivery of fabulous feasts.

Wantirna Mall Fish & Chips is an alright place to go if you are really hungry but I can think of…read moreplenty of nearby fish & chip places that I prefer to this one. There is nothing majorly wrong with it, it's just that it isn't as good as everywhere else. The floor is tiled in checkered beige and white and is quite dirty in places. The rest of the shop looks similar - old and missing the attention of a good sponge. The service is fine, but nothing amazing. I most certainly don't expect a conversation when I come here and I've never gotten a smile that indicates I have been remembered. Despite the menu claiming that "price will be changed without notice", the prices here are quite stable and don't tend to get changed. The menu itself is actually a big source of irritation for me as there are a lot of grammatical errors. Each time I go to the shop, or even walk past, I am tempted to pop in to point out that the correct spelling of a wrap (as in Souvlaki Wrap) is actually w-r-a-p and not "Wrappes" as is appears at least seven times in the menu. Apart from this, the place is alright. The food is decent but can be a little on the oily side. Just make sure to specify grilled if you find this a problem.

Food is top notch, ignore review below - these guys have been in business (under same management) for longer than any other F&C in the area, so that speaks for itself. I've been going there for almost 7 years now, shopped around, but came back due to the speed and good old fashioned fish and chips shop they are... consistantly great. You can also grab drinks from IGA (or iga liquor), or other take away (pizza, thai, chinese, etc) while you are waiting...
