After eating the latest "crispy" aromatic duck tonight, I have now established after eating many of these meals from Chopsticks, that the duck is always medium cooked, still retaining its fatiness , and is certainly NOT crisp. In all other respects, the food is very good, and Chopsticks is rated No. 1 Asian takaway in Leominster. But please Chopsticks, keep the duck in the oven until crispy. Possibly, they cook less to save the fuel powering the oven? I will need to reconsider patronising another Takaway or purchasing a packaged aromatic duck from a supermarket to take home. In this way I will control the cooking and oven temperature. read more

We went for lunch today. We've been there many times. The food is still high quality but the prices are even higher. They have no lunch specials so we ordered off the menu. We ordered soup, lowmein, chicken wings and vegetables. We couldn't have tea, only a glass of water. The bill came to 41.81 and then with tip, $48.00. That's lunch for two. The place was clean and empty. This is the last time we go for lunch. At these prices I have no doubt they'll be bankrupt soon. $24.00 each for Chinese food lunch is a bit much! This was my first time trying s hibachi restaurant where you sit next to chef and watch them cook. It looks like your typical japanese/Chinese buffet restaurant with the normal frills. We were seating pretty quickly and had plenty of time to order because they have to fill the table and allow time for the cook to prepare before coming out cook. It was entertaining to have the chef prepare and do flashy skills with the utensils and food. There was a guy at our table that was having a birthday and the cook tossed food in to his mouth and did a countdown to his age by squirting sake in to his mouth. Like I said it was all very entertaining. The food was ok. They prepared fried rice and vegetables and cooked your meat to order. Unfortunately my steak was cooked medium well instead of medium rare. Came here for hibachi for my father in laws birthday. 8 of us total on a Wednesday night so it wasn't very busy. Started off with beers and cocktails. This place has lots of cocktails and a lot of them were delicious! I forgot the name of my drink but it was dark rum and coconut! Everyone ordered hibachi which comes with soup, salad, and ice cream for dessert. The chef was funny and entertaining! I ordered the deluxe sashimi which came with miso soup, salad, and ice cream as well. Everyone loved their meal from hibachi. I'm glad I got the deluxe sashimi because it was kinda small, I can't imagine how small the regular sashimi is. Overall every thing was great! This is one of the better Hibachi places I've been and the major reason is the selection. There are about 20 different Hibachi selections to choose from including obscure options like Calamari Steak. Cool right? I got the Shogun steak which comes with mushrooms and is cooked in a garlic butter sauce. It was pretty good. You get soup and salad w/ garlic dressing like all Hibachi joints, but in most cases they're both just OK tasting and here they weren't half bad, especially the soup. You also get dessert (ice cream) here which you don't get most other places. Overall, the entertainment could have been better. Our chef wasn't all that fun and the most he did was the onion volcano. They also don't fry your rice for you, it comes in a bowl which is kind of a bummer. Overall though, the prices were good, the selection was great, the drinks were strong and the Hibachi table was clean. Oh, and try the Sweet Potato maki - yum!! read more

I'm a fan of their Hibachi, more than their buffet. Been here twice and absolutely loved their hibachi food, presentation, sushi and drinks. Went there for a Sunday dinner buffet and wasn't too happy. They charge a flat fee and not by weight, which bummed me out. Their sushi options were very limited and only had one type, more a veggie roll. The food tasted good and can't complain about that. Needing to kill some time before an early evening movie, we stopped into Chopsticks because it is relatively near the theater. We were one of only a few people in the lounge when we first arrived, but it quickly filled with regulars by the time we were ready to leave. My husband said, "You always get the same vibe from the bar in a Chinese restaurant" (and I think he meant that in a good way!) Wanting to save room for popcorn but still craving a snack, we ordered crab rangoons after marveling at the low price. Well, the price corresponded with the size: 5 small crab rangoons. They should have a small and a large order so one knows what to expect for portion size. Nevertheless, they tasted fine and left us room for movie snacks. My husband enjoyed his mai tai and noted it tasted somewhat different (although every Chinese restaurant makes their own version of a mai tai.) Sadly, the entertainment value here was better than the food last night. When my husband and I were here several years ago, I thought it was fantastic... but that assessment may have been influenced by several Head Hunters (which are delicious and potent). We had reservations for a party of 15 and sat in the hibachi/teppenyaki side of the house. While the service was good, all of the food was overcooked. Tough shrimp, dry scallops, and mushy zucchini were not what I was expecting. Timing was also a bit off--one half of our group got started eating before the other, which was a little weird. The soup was great, but not good enough to make up for the disappointment of my entrée. We ordered salt n pepper shrimp and seafood chowfoon to go. The shrimp, when arrived at home was soggy, not crispy as I expected. I only live 5 mins away. Maybe if they vent the container, it can breathe a bit. The flavor was just ok. The chow food? Omg, not good at all. When you think of chow foon, you think stir fry wide noodles to golden brown with flavor. Nope, not this. It was white. White like rice. Looked like it was steam not stir fry. I'm beyond disappointed with our Hibachi experience. We were sat at a grill with a family who had already eaten their salad and soup. The server immediately brought us both together and asked us for our order. The cook began his "show" as we ate our soup and salad. As we were eating, the server came with takeout boxes and our bill. I felt totally rushed which I had experienced there before but thought I'd give it a try again (for the last time). She waited for me to sign my CC slip then offered us ice cream. If I could rate this lower than one star I would, went there last night for a surprise hibachi birthday party for 14 people. It was my girlfriends brothers 29th birthday. Anyway we get there with a homemade birthday cake that she worked on for hours. Upon entering one of the workers took the cake to the back with her name and slip on it. Well so far everything is going good and well, until one manager flags my girlfriend down. As I'm watching them talk, I can see she is very upset. Turns out the staff gave the cake to a wedding party. The manager threw us what the cake cost and did not comp any of our meals. The end of the party was ruined. I have no clue on how you can mess up a cake for a birthday party, especilly when the slip said the name and habachi party of 14. Chopsticks has been a staple of Leominster & Fitchburg for over thirty years. This restaurant displays versatility . It serves as a buffet, bar, sit down restaurant and hibachi. Now this is a review just for the hibachi itself. The versatility, and veneration does not add up to all the standard. I came with my company for a holiday get together for the hibachi. My order was the chicken and shrimp combo. The shrimp was right on spot, nicely grilled and charred however ,the chicken was very dry and tough. The sauces they offered were the ponzu and mustard sauce both accommodated the flavors well. read more

We just returned from Chopsticks which has always been one of our favorite places to celebrate birthdays, etc for years. We first noticed a change when they changed ownership a few years ago but we continued to frequent the establishment anyway. This time was our last time. Service was fine but the quality of the food has really gone downhill. The salad dressing was watered down, the soup, which used to be very good was inedible; rice was so so s, we ordered hibachi rice but the don't put the vegetables in it anymore. Steak was okay but not delicious. The are so stingy with the sauce now, they give you barely a tablespoon in the dish. Coconut ice cream, a staple for years , is no longer available. BUGS! This place has an insane bug problem. As soon as you walk in you'll notice the fly issue and it only gets worse. I stopped in today after class before I headed to work. Sat down, got the buffet and ate a plate, no big deal. Went back up to get more garlic chicken and broccoli, sit down and can't tell if a little black dot was spice. So I play with it with my fork and sure enough it had legs! The little black bug was cooked in with the chicken and garlic sauce. The chicken had just come out between my first trip and second so it was fresh, meaning the bug was mixed in back in the kitchen. I can't imagine the horror show it must be back there. While this was going on, a father and daughter came in and sat in the booth beside me. They got their plates from the buffet and the little girl went to put soy sauce on her plate. Sure enough, bugs in the soy sauce!! After checking all the soy sauces in the tables near him, the father found bugs in every one of them! This place is truly disgusting and infested with bugs. Black flies everywhere! I saw one struggling to stay alive in the duck sauce. I'm not sure how long the table was sitting behind wasn't bussed but there was black flies all over it. They landed on the back of my head and ear a few times. I also sent two tea cups back because there was some sticky goop all inside it. I almost threw up when I turned the first one over and I had to peel it off the paper place mat. The seats are ripped and have stuffing falling out and the ceiling is completely water stained. The lighting is so bright it's like being in Vegas. I would have taken pictures but I was to busy leaving before I even ordered. I wouldn't even get take out from this place. I have literally been coming here for 24 years, and I remember about 12 of those years (I'm 24). I see a lot of people who say this place made them sick, but that's because they came here and ate a bunch of fried food, which isn't great for anybody's stomach. I love their buffet and it's been reliably great for as long as I remember. They staff are nice (a couple grumpy old people but who can blame them, a lot of people from this area have petty attitudes) and they recognize me and the fam. Their vegetables are diverse and well cooked, buffet food comes out often, the tea is free and decent, and they have fantastic Chinese doughnuts. I went there yesterday 2/7/19, and opted for the buffet, which in the past had been very good. The food was HORRIBLE! Some of it was inedible, with off flavors, and the steamed shrimp wrapped in wonton almost made me throw-up on the table. It was so bad, that I lost my appetite immediately, and left. The vegetable tempura was the only acceptable offering in the buffet. This awful buffet experience cost me $18 bucks, including a soda, tax and tip. (it wasn't the waitresses fault that the food sucked.) A day later, I still have a bad taste in my mouth. Never, ever, again! DISCRIMINATION. Our 22 year old autistic daughter and Adult Companion went out to lunch on a Saturday at 11:30 a.m. right when they opened. She doesn't have conversational speech, but is an extremely happy person who has words and can read a menu and order food. She googled Chinese food and chose this location herself. She was excited and at one point said the word 'yes' somewhat loudly but since there were only a few customers her adult companion didn't think anything of it. Unexpectedly the hostess came over and told them angrily "your making too much noise so you have to move to the BACK of the restaurant." . They moved to the back, ate and left. In 22 years this has never happened to her. It was completely ridiculous and uncalled for. We will never go back. I personally haven't been there in 4 years as the last time I went the hovered over us because they wanted to close earlier than posted and we were the only customers. I also recall how dirty it looked and smelled like a wet dog. DON'T ever go to this place and expect respect and kindness. Hoping Karma takes care of these people. ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL. read more
