    Special Caribbean Lobster Thermidor
    Judy S.

This is a great place. The photos on the wall from the roaring 20's give you the feeling of being in an old time steak house. We opted not to have steak, but went instead for the Carribean lobster. We both love it grilled but I asked our server to see what the chef suggested. In a few moments she came back with a smile and asked if we has any food allergies, which luckily we don't. It took awhile, but she came back with a phenomenal rendition of a lobster thermidor! Wouldn't expect to get this on a busy night as there is so much prep time but we enjoyed every bite.

The Ambiance... Red.. Provocative.. Let this menu seduce you ;)

Visited this restaurant and resort 4 years ago and could not wait for the Lobster Bisque and steak to order! Bravo Top NOTCH! This time we had live music and I had the shrimp cocktail.. YUMMY!! Come hungry ;)

Expensive, steak was burned and cold at the same time and the music was blasting. Pretty disappointed overall and not worth it.

We do travel with a wheelchair. The server was very good and well knowledgeable on the menu. He was even photographed in the menu. We ordered a couple cocktails as well as many appetizers. We didn't order any entrees, as our family likes to try many things. My wife's favorite is ceviche and she was impressed by this dish. (Order it) We also ordered fish bites. Solid choice as the guava sauce was memorable. La arepas de coconut. Solid. The fish empanadas were great. Definitely order those. But calamari was chewy and overcooked. I'd pass on this. Cocktails were amazing. Spicy margarita is spicy!! I had a mojito which was delicious. You won't go wrong with any cocktail. Server was great. He did mention to me that we should order soon as the kitchen will get busy. We waited as we were enjoying our dinner. (We didn't have any problems) I'd go back. I'd also suggest sticking to your plan. It's your evening and don't let service control the experience. At the end of it...you control the tip = thank you.

I also tried the coconut mojito on the rocks, which was a standout: refreshing, well-balanced, and served with fruit (strawberry, cherry, and blueberries) mixed in. My wife had the fish mofongo, which she felt was just okay--decent, but not particularly memorable. That said, overall this is a great dinner spot if you're in the area. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors; we opted to sit outside since the AC inside was a bit too cold. Definitely worth checking out for a relaxed meal and solid cocktails.

The passion fruit mojito was so refreshing and generously sized. My husband and I ordered the tuna tartare and the seafood mariscos--both dishes were generous portions and absolutely delicious. Eduardo, our waiter, was very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed talking with him about the local area. On our way out, we were greeted by Ferdinand, who helped us cross the road. He also had a lot of knowledge about the area. If you stop by this spot, make sure you have a chat with these friendly staff members--they are a wealth of information.

The host sat the table of five and then came back to us. There was some back and forth on where we made our reservation. We originally thought it was OpenTable but it was actually Resy. The host confirmed the reservation and I saw it on her tablet screen. I also showed her the confirmation email we had. Despite this, she told us we would need to wait 30 minutes for a table. No apology or acknowledgement that this was an inconvenience. This was both surprising and upsetting, given that we had a confirmed reservation. The host revised her estimate to say it might be 15-30 minutes. Unfortunately, the behavior of both the host and the server she pulled in to assist her was unprofessional and inhospitable. They were condescending in their explanation, stating that we had to wait due to "previous reservations" and suggesting that we should be happy to wait. This was especially upsetting since a large party without a reservation had already been seated ahead of us and no matter how much we tried to explain our frustration, the staff was not interested in hearing us out. I fully understand that mistakes happen, but I found the staff's dismissive and rude behavior to be unacceptable.

We sampled all the apps and with so many people, everyone ordered different items and all I heard were rave reviews. I personally enjoyed the calamari, wings, and had a steak the size of my head! The mashed potatoes were also fantastic! I topped it off with the Old San Juan (old fashioned) and it was probably the best drink I had on the resort. This is a must-visit during your stay.

Our server was friendly and listened attentively when we explained the food allergies and dietary restrictions in our group. He came back to confirm which items were safe for our daughter and the chef accommodated a vegetarian in our group with a thoughtful pasta and a special asparagus sauce, rather just than random side dishes and starches as is so often the case. My mahi mahi was a bit tough and salty but I never order mahi mahi so I don't know if that's just how it is, but I loved the broth in my mom's coconut seafood food stew and my husband loved his seafood mac and cheese, which had a decent amount of lobster in it. Also, the two salads we ordered were surprisingly well prepared, fresh, and flavorful--our four year old devoured hers. We got your typical vacation drinks and had no complaints about those. We would have gone back for another meal had it not been on the pricier side.
