Be prepared for overpriced food, highly-variable (and unpredictable) hours, and the company of people wearing suits. 2. This place. It's not the best Tesco Express I've seen. They have a rather small selection of ready-to-go meals, and I think they only get one delivery of pastries per day. But they're open early, they're open late, and their prices are good, in spite of being the only food option for the numerous hotels and upscale residential developments that have gone up nearby. Go Tesco!

I like shopping local so this is a welcome alternative to the Sainsbury's up the road. They don't have ALL the stuff in a supermarket but the majority of it and then loads of stuff a supermarket doesn't - last time I check they don't usually sell Ganesh idols. Sometimes the fruit is a bit suspect but I love it during the summer when you get amazing fragrant sweet Pakistani mangoes from this store.

A little pricey and not much of a selection, but ok to grab some small things for breakfast or whatever, which is what we did. If you're staying at the aloft, it's a bit of a walk (at least 15-20 minutes), or one stop on the DLR.

This is the most random little spot I have ever been into…read more Its basically aisles and aisles of extremely packed shelves with everything you can imagine possibly imagine packed into them. They make full use of every available space with the shelving on the wall reaching to the roof (it was not very clear how you actually get the products down from there) and food items even being packed on the floor. It had a big enough wine and chocolate section, which is exactly what I was looking for. If nothing else, this is a must see for the pure randomness of it all! :)

They stock everything from cleaning products, bicycle tube repair sets, glasses, cakes and olives to frozen food. They also have a good organic section with juices, tea's and health products. The staff are usually friendly and accommodating. Open until 11pm every day.
