I've already heard and seen the growing number of Wingstop branches in the Philippines recently…read more I've even gotten to pass by its Eastwood branch but have not had the chance to try it out until a few days back. As a wing person, I'm uber particular with flavor. I think chicken wings are one of the best types of meat to play around with. I mean, there are a ton of flavors you can create to season and coat these babies with. It's all a matter of being creative enough to come up with something just out of the ordinary. And I'm super glad Wingstop has finally brought that to the Philippines. They've got a variety of flavors that some can be considered classic and the remaining to be the edgier flavors. They've got the staples: Hickory Smoked Barbeque, Garlic Parmesan, Lemon and Pepper. And they've also brought in some unusual suspects: Mango Habanero (which is their second spiciest sauce), Cajun, Louisiana Hot and more! They've definitely raised the wings game here in the Philippines! Apart from wings, they also serve chicken balls (which are kind of like the size of nuggets) and chicken tenders. They also serve Chipotle rice - savory rice that perfectly complements your meat. Yum!!! We went there on a Friday night and the place was packed so we had to wait a little before we got a table. The branch in Estancia is quite small compared to their Eastwood branch (I have yet to see their other branches) so seating might be a problem during lunch or dinner. For about two people, it'll probably cost you 600-800 pesos.

Parang I've never really found one that can compare to hers. Naks! But just a while ago, I think I found the second best barbeque in the world - Maya's Delicious Barbeque! A pretty straightforward and vain name, don't you think? But I think it's just apt. The barbeque WAS delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed the one stick I had prior to actually getting my real lunch. If they were offering rice or if they just had chairs, I would've ordered 5 pieces of those magical grilled meat and thank the inihaw gods for opening my eyes to the wondrous creation of Maya. What makes Maya's barbeque truly delicious is the sweet-tangy marinade the meat is coated with. The barbeque is also super tender and because they grill it for a while before handing the stick to you, the meat isn't hard to bite on. I literally could have this anytime of the day! The great thing about Maya is that they actually allow bulk orders. So if you're looking for a legit barbeque caterer, I would recommend Maya. They also sell frozen barbeque so that's another option. They also sell Isaw (pork and chicken), Grilled Liempo and Chicken barbeque.

While waiting for my mom inside the car, I got hungry and saw this barbeque stand in the parking area. I ordered one stick of their barbeque just to try it out and ended up buying a dozen for our dinner that night. Just like how they branded their barbeques, it was indeed delicious. Sadly when Cherry Foodarama closed down and was replaced by S&R, Maya's Delicious Barbeque also had to relocate and I'm glad that they relocated somewhere still near my area. You can order a small or big one for less than 50 pesos per stick. I love that they intertwine the pork and fat in one stick. The marinade they use is superb and the pork is tender. If you're on the hunt for good barbeques, do drop by Pioneer Centers parking lot and get some Maya's.

Walking in on a Saturday night, I half-expected that familiar college-town hum--a low murmur of conversation, sticky tables, and the faint smell of fried dreams. Instead, the place was eerily quiet, like the party wrapped up long before I got the memo. I went for the classics--half a dozen of their Signature Buffalo Spicy and half a dozen Salted Egg Bone-In Wings, with blue cheese sauce riding shotgun. A side of rice (because it's Manila--of course there's rice) and mashed potatoes that... well, we'll get to those in a second. The beer--a cold Honey Ale from a local craft brewer--was the unsung hero of the night. Finally, someone in Manila brewing something that didn't taste like regret and melted ice. The wings? Definitely not bad. Crispy, juicy--like they actually respected the bird. But if you're going to throw your name in the ring for best wings in town, you need to bring more than just competence. The Salted Egg seasoning--Southeast Asia's current golden child--was a heavy, clumsy affair. It coated every inch of the wing like a thick winter jacket. No chili kick, no garlic bite--just a flat, salty blanket that had me checking my pulse halfway through. The Buffalo sauce, their so-called signature, leaned way too sweet--more candied ketchup than the tangy, spicy, vinegary slap you want from proper Buffalo wings. And then there was the blue cheese sauce--if you could even call it that. The kind of stuff that comes squeezed out of a sad little plastic packet, shelf-stable for the next nuclear winter. You know the one--overly loose, weirdly tangy, with about as much real blue cheese as a 7-Eleven hot dog. A sauce like that isn't just disappointing--it's disrespectful. The mashed potatoes were some kind of crime against carbs. Lumpy, under-seasoned, with a pale, plasticky cheese blanket on top that made me wonder what the poor spuds did to deserve this fate. The rice, surprisingly, became the unsung palate cleanser--cutting through the heaviness and giving the meal at least some rhythm. Service was the kind that leaves you alone--sometimes a little too alone. You had to flag someone down like you were hailing a cab in the rain. Look--Frankie's isn't a bad joint. If you're already three beers deep and need something fried to keep you vertical, they'll do the job. But for an avid wing eater--someone who's chased those little fried miracles across NYC--this was just another forgettable night. And when it comes to wings, forgettable is the worst sin of all.

As juicy as a water soaked Amazon box. The classic Buffalo wings were mediocre at best. Underwhelming flavor and I'm being nice and generous in stating "flavor". They offered to fry it again. However, that would dry the chicken further.

And to be honest, I am one of those people who just can't stop eating lechon. Baliwag Lechon Manok is definitely one of my favorite places to go to whenever I want my Lechon craving satisfied. I first discovered this place when our helpers left our house. No one in our family can cook at all. We already tried it, but we just can't do it. When we didn't have anyone to cook for us, we just started buying food from Baliwag Lechon Manok. It's just outside our subdivision in Pasig so it's not really much of a hassle to go there. Besides Lechon Manok, Baliwag also sells Lechon Liempo, Siopao, and Chicharon. It's also really affordable so you definitely get the value of your money.

Located just 5 minutes away from my place, it was convenient to just drive by and get a whole Lechon Manok for less than 300 pesos. Best part about their Lechon Manok is their Liver sauce so make sure to order extras.
