How did we end up here: we planed to have lunch at Emile. Google shows it opens 24/7 but when we got there at 2:50 - spent too much time at the top - Sugarloaf and Praia Vermelha. They said come back at 7. So we walked toward south a few steps and saw a Spanish and Chinese restaurants. We picked the Spanish, oh how I would love to have paella. But the young maid said to me in a low voice: "just you know this is a Spanish, the Chinese is next door." So here we're, the unwanted guests -:) The location is excellent, on the second floor, looking out to the Copacabana Beach. A silver of Hotel Emile can be spotted from the windows. The decor is 1972, the year they started in business. The service is good, other than messed up order - my best guess is language barrier - me not speaking Portuguese. Does Irene speak anything at all? Not really We've pickled cucumbers, mapo tofu 麻婆豆腐and eggs with tomato 番茄炒鸡蛋. They totally forgot the cucumber and eggs tomatoes became eggs and ham. Their food is so much better than Canton. And this is the only meal that we finished everything, a small feast. They're kind enough to charge our phone - thank you. read more

This restaurant was recommended to me by a tour guide I trust. It's beachside so unsurprisingly overpriced. That being said, you basically get a decent portion size for what it is. Biggest issue is lack of quality at this price point. Grilled shrimp (without rice or any accompaniments) will cost $35 US. That's a high price to pay in Rio. Also the portion sizes seem to only work for families. Good luck if you're a single person. I had the grilled shrimp, wonton soup, and pork fried rice. Nothing impressed me and it basically is the quality of mall Chinese you can get in any city in the US. If you're craving Chinese just wait until you get back home. This isn't worth it. read more

Great Chinese food right in front of Copacabana beach with an amazing view of the ocean. If you're coming here to expect American Chinese food, please go somewhere else. Everything on the menu is fresh and absolutely delicious! Since I eat Chinese food at least twice a week back home in Virginia, the food was lacking a little something... I'm assuming it's the MSG, the made-hours-ahead noodles and the loads of extra sauce (which most Americans do NOT need in their diets) Food was on point. Service was good. Location was amazing. Chinese food. Not great Chinese food, but definitely Chinese food, near my house, in a town where getting anything other than standard Carioca fare usually involves some mode of transportation. Mu Shu pork is pretty solid, and well priced at 50 reais for a portion that easily serves two. For me, this place is a 5 because of the location. Don't think any Chinese would call this Chinese food, but at the same time, thankful that there is this option of oriental-like food at a convenient enough of a location. Portion sizes are fairly big. I myself been there a few times. Standard order is usually either fried rice or fried noodles (decent), sour and spicy soup (not too good but there is the Asian-ness in me that requires some soup or other) and their seafood & vegetable hotplate (which is not bad). The food was good. This is not North American Chinese food, but not too far from it. It was the only Chinese restaurant we saw on the copacabana strip. We arrived late-ish, but the kitchen was still open and they served us promptly. Each main was enough for two, so consider sharing. When the check came, we noticed that there was an error, basically they doubled the number of appetizers and mains from our order. I wanted Chinese and saw the closest place to our hotel with a decent rating was here. It was pretty empty with only one other couple and that made my wife and I uncomfortable because that's not a good sign. We ordered spring rolls, shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and green tea. We couldn't believe how expensive it was and how bad the quality of the food was, except for the shrimp fried rice. We were very disappointed and wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all. We ended up giving the leftovers to a homeless person. read more

Good food and great view. We got there early enough to get a table by the window overlooking Copacabana beach. Menu has English, Portuguese and Chinese characters describing every dish, so don't worry about getting an order lost in translation. Only downside is that the tables are a bit small and close together. read more

i walked into the establishment to place take out. at that time there was only 2 tables and so i guess it should not take that long to prepare my order. well, i was wrong. 3 easy dishes ( chicken fried rice, sweet sour fish and hot and sour soup). the kitchen took 35 min to prepare. how will they do if they were packed( friday evening at 1930 hrs)? food was so so. portion is generous. found a glass fragment in the fried rice. their credit card machine was not working as the wifi is "snail" slow. read more

I love Chinese cuisine. I love it. We've had it on three continents now because I want to eat it everywhere we go. Chon Kou is located right on Avenida Atlantica and at night you can watch the waves roll in, while drinking caipirinhas and eating braised prawns in the house spicy sauce. Obviously what I ate. It was delicious. We ordered pork fried rice, and you get fresh pulled pork stir fried with the rice and fresh green peas. The peas were so sweet. I didn't try the egg drop soup but I will. The meats are heavy on sauce but not overwhelming. I didn't use a drop of anything to season the food it was that good. Go and enjoy. read more

Had lunch here on 2/18/19. We found the food quite good. Service was prompt and efficient, and the waiter, despite our language barrier (we do not speak Portuguese) was able to convey what was ok for us to order, given a certain dietary constraint. The meal was tasty and without overly starchy sauces, so it was lighter than many Chinese preparations. Good change of pace for dining in the Copacabana area. read more

Great food, ordered delivery to my hotel .. It takes about 45 min to get it . They just tend to forget the spicy souce / soy sauce and spoon for the food ... Just make sure you remind it to the guy who takes your order . They forgot to bring it 2 times with us. read more

This place had decent Chinese food. We came by thus as a last resort. Chinese food in brazil wasnt intriguing. Food was decent. Had a longer than usual wait to order especially s since place was almost empty. We ordered a few plates waiter forgot one.
