We've been coming to chompies for over 25 years. Today we got the best looking Nock platter ever. They carefully and artistically shingled the slices of locks. And the past we have had bits and pieces that were not appropriate for a platter. My wife also says they have the best Pepsi cola in town, L O L. Our server Mila was wonderful and she remembered to bring me a spoon from my coffee which nobody else does I had the stuff derma with gravy. It had way too much carrots for my liking. Great deli food. The hubs and I ate breakfast here on Saturday and fully enjoyed our omelettes with bagels and cream cheese. Not only do they have outstanding food, but also outstanding bakery. The service from the wait staff was really great. Timely to the table to take our drinks and food order. The restaurant inside was very clean as was the bathroom very clean. I'm sure the food is good, but the service and location give them a two. Enter the parking lot and you are met with a traffic jam coming at you from every direction. Enter the Chompie's restaurant/bakery and there is zero help. Nobody there to greet you. nobody there to assist you with whether you are there to eat or to purchase bakery items. We came to purchase a bag of bagels to-go. We looked around at all the yummy treats in the display case at the bakery section. We were there for a good 5 minutes and received zero help from anyone working here. We then stood at the counter while a Chompie's employee was on the phone talking for a few minutes - sounded like a personal phone call. She then finally acknowledged us and got us our bagels. What happened here? Took a friend to breakfast and she ended up not eating her breakfast -- despite being SPECIFIC about her order. Waitress appeared to be unconcerned about what happened with my friend's order. She "graciously" deducted $3 from our bill for the uneaten meal. Am very reticent to return to this location as it was such a disappointment. I was so embarrassed for my friend since I was treating her to breakfast. I ordered a brisket dinner to go for my husband. It was amazing! Sliced thin, so tender and flavorful. You get 2 sides and your choice of salad or soup. For myself I ordered a Shirli's LA Jolla salad. The salad was huge. More than enough for 2 people. I did enjoy my salad even though the chicken slices were on the dry side. I'm in Scottsdale for business and we tried Chompies. It's awesome! I had the half sandwich & soup and it was the perfect size. I had the pastrami on a sweet roll with Thousand Island on the side since I don't like mustard. It came with a side of cole slaw and it was great. Mildly sweet, which is what I like. The soup was chicken noodle with kregle (not sure if I spelled that correctly) and it was my first time trying it. It's like a ravioli noodle with ground Turkey in it. All of it was great and I'll eat here again the next time I'm in town. I highly recommend this place. read more

Met here for lunch- have been to the Paradise Valley location several times. This was the first time to this location and it was consistent with one expects from Chompies- large portions, good food and pastries. It reminds me of going to grandmas for a meal- you get served way too much food!! Our server was pleasant and helpful with our choices. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and my friend had the protein pancakes. Both our meals were very good- nicely presented on the plate. Ordered "Wendy''s Favorite" turkey sandwich on toasted whole wheat. What a disappointment! A dry fistful of turkey between the toast that only a glutton could appreciate. Once our favorite dining spot in Phoenix/Scottsdale... Our recent visit the last week in January during our staycation trip to North Scottsdale to Chompie's was absolutely terrible. My small bowl of Sweet & Sour Soup was now a cup, the pastrami sandwich was horrible (grisly unchewable meat, did not taste like fresh sliced deli cured spiced, and smoked beef brisket meat (thought I was at Arby's), one thin sliced bagel chip with rancid tasting butter or some other off spread, way too expensive for this awful sandwich, and missing our favorite, NO "NEW" PICKLES and an assortment of bagel chips served for diners when first seated. Also the menu did not have any of our other preferred items; salami and eggs, whole smoked white fish, and NO BEEF TONGUE!!!!! Why make a trip up from Tucson for this very disappointing and very expensive food. And don't get me started on the server.... if he ever smile or showed any personality it would be a miracle. No wonder the dining room for dinner was empty. No value here or quality good food. read more

Being raised in NY/NJ and then visiting a bagel joint in the Phoenix area hits different. haha I ended up dining here on account of a business trip, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal! Bagels were pretty well made, the portion size was generous and the drip coffee was pretty good as well!! I had a delicious and filling meal here. There is plentiful parking, large indoor space with colorfully painted walls of broadway musical playbills. I would definitely consider stopping by here again if in the area! read more

Food tasted like absolute CHEEKS. Went here for my daughter's 5th birthday, my soup tastes like fish water and my chicken was dryer than the Sahara. My pickles were dirty mushy, and squishy, came in a tray with old food from other people. The restaurant was so disgusting and dirty there were crumbs all over my table and the floor, the manager was very fat so I could tell only he enjoys the food here. Accumulating the chompie rewards points are an absolute pain in the xxx. We just had a $62.35 meal and the bottom of the receipt says zero points. We have now been waiting 20 minutes to speak with a manager. Shame on you, Chompies. read more

We stopped eating at Chompi's several years ago due to difficult experiences with the manager. We finally decided to try it again and we were very happy with the service, the food, the attitude of the servers. Apparently, they have a new manager and it's much improved! Being a "CFS" ambassador, I have had better throughout the country. It will satisfy your fried steak needs though. Biscuits were fresh buttery and large. I'd like to try them next time with just some butter and jam. Eggs were scrambled and cooked well. I asked for extra crispy home fries and they delivered. Crispy and well seasoned. Little on the greasy side. The side order of sausage although plump, it was a little over priced and they were mushy and not a lot of flavor. Maybe bacon next time. The coffee was pretty diner-ish. Was hoping for a little more. Sat outside and enjoyed the cooling morning end of summer temps. Service was friendly and prompt. I took my son for his birthday and after dinner ordered desert. It was then 8:40 and the waitress put his cake in a to go box. When I asked for it on a plate she said they were closing (20 minutes before the posted hours) and we had to take it with us. They also stop seating people at 8:30pm even though they claim to be open until 9:00 pm and advertise as such. I have never seen anything like this in my 30 years in the restaurant industry. Closing at 9:00pm is not supposed to mean the employees go home at 9pm. read more

Love Chompie's so much, great warm acknowledgement arriving and departing. The service this visit was a little "eh" but not terrible. My partner and I wanted matzah ball soup with chicken so he ordered soup and a sandwich with 1/2 of a corned beef sandwich on rye, piled high with delicious beef and a small container of cole slaw that he practically licks clean every time. I usually will follow suit but today I wanted something different with my soup.......so when I ordered a grilled cheese with tomato, pepper jack and turkey I definitely detected a face from across the table hahaha!
