On Saturday July 6, 2024, I rushed him to this place. He was misdiagnosed upon arrival. After he finally got in, a tech came to the parking lot and confirmed my cat was blocked. I had to pay $2,550 up front before his admission. I called Saturday night and Sunday. No one was available to speak with me. Not a single vet ever called me with an update or status. I got my FIRST call from a Joanne, the "Office Manager," at 10:30 P.M. SUN NIGHT, telling me to come get my cat at 7:10 a.m. the next morning. I asked what was done, what did the path report say, where was the vet, etc. I was upset and confused. What had happened with my pet? He had just had his catheter put in 24 hours prior. I had paid $2,550, and not a single medical person had contacted me since I dropped him off the afternoon before. There was no compassion at all, NONE, from Joanne. She dismissively explained what "typically" happens with a blockage. I cut her off. I did not care about "typical." What had happened with my pet???? I wanted some answers. Her response was that I pick him up and take him to another vet. And if I wasn't there by 8 a.m., I would be charged with abandonment(!). That woman was nothing but unhelpful, short-tempered, disrespectful, and insensitive. Why is she working there? I think it is safe to say it's time for Joanne to find another job or be fired. NO MEDICAL PERSONNEL EVER CONTACTED ME. I had no idea what I was paying for. I had no definitive diagnosis; no idea what his status was, or what they had even done. I was in a state of SHOCK. The paperwork they gave me did NOT even have a diagnosis listed. The final bill was $1786, which I felt like I had just flushed down the toilet. The catheter was already removed when I arrived, even though I did not request it, and it certainly was not my wish. I then rushed my cat to Camboro Veterinary Hospital, who did an outstanding job. Dr. Acosta and Shelby, the surgical nurse, and staff treated me with the utmost empathy and respect. My cat was immediately admitted and treated. The standard of care provided was impeccable. I cannot recommend Camboro highly enough. They were wonderful. I have had numerous dogs and cats over the years, and I have NEVER, EVER experienced anything even remotely approaching the degree of unprofessionalism and disgraceful standard of care I experienced at this NW PA Pet Emergency Center, which was basically malpractice. Do NOT, under any circumstances, go here unless your pet is at death's door ... not even then unless you're going to euthanize your pet. They are the WORST I have ever seen.

He was in critical condition and had to stay overnight. The Dr was very understanding and thorough in explaining the situation. Answered all my questions. Staff was patient, kind, and helpful as I was making calls to work out payment for the admit. They answered all my questions when I called overnight for updates and he was stable by morning. We even got a significant refund after. In my experience the staff is very knowledgeable, kind, and honest. I hope we never need an ER again but if we did we would definitely return here.

Which is nice in an emergency since you aren't going to get in to see your regular vet on a Sunday. They triage patients based on urgency, so your cat with the sniffles will be seen long after the dog that was hit by a car. Totally understandable. Your level of care may vary (see some other reviews) but our experience was positive. BE PREPARED! You're going to have (an extremely uncomfortable) front row seat to animals arriving sick, broken and dying. Fellow pet parents are going to be sobbing over their impending loss. Heart-wrenching. And you're going to have to endure this for 4 to eight hours. (We were there seven & a half). Many of you reading this are going to find this extremely tough to take. We sure did. As an aside, there was an unseen worker in the back coughing her head off for THE ENTIRE SEVEN + HOURS we were there! STAY HOME IF YOU'RE SICK. This is how we wind up with pandemics.
