Choice Property Management is a PM that goes above and beyond their duty. CPM has been managing my 4 unit apartment for a few years now and back in December 2022, just before the holidays, a pipe burst in the kitchen of one of my units while the tenant was on vacation. As soon as Jackie was alerted about the situation, her team sprang into action, was able to shut off the water to the unit, took pictures and assessed the damage, notified the tenant and me, and even helped with the clean up. There was significant damage to the kitchen and bathroom which needed to be replaced which was no small task. Several months later, Jackie and her team were still working hard on my unit, working with the insurance adjuster and making sure that restoration company that the insurance company had recommended did the repairs accurately and on-time and holding them accountable when they didn't do something correctly. Jackie is dependable, reliable, tough, a no nonsense type of PM who knows her market and the industry. As an out of state investor, it's important that you can rely on your PM to take care of your properties as if it was their own, and Jackie and her team at CPM is that PM who I would highly recommend. read more

Jackie Stevenson is the worst! She belittles her clients and treats them like they are wrong in every situation. She charged us for lawn care services after there was a tenant in our rental. When we questioned her about it, she got really shitty with us. When we showed her the charges she just said "opps" and left it at that. Her financial statements make zero since and I believe that is just away to hide the scam she is running. When we finally fired her, I was told countless times that the keys and paperwork was in the mail, first by her office staff, then by Jackie herself. I tried emailing Jackie and her secretary to see why I hadn't received my keys, but they never emailed back. I finally called and got her to answer her phone (which is very shocking considering Jackie is horrible at answering her phone and/or returning calls.) She started in on how rude I was being and saying if her office staff said they were sending everything in the mail that they would. Needless to say, I ended up having to drive to her office to pick up the keys and paperwork because that was the only way to get our keys back. She met me at her office door and wouldn't even let me come in. I just wanted to check to see I got everything and ask any questions I might have, but nope. After taking back the property, we contacted the tenant about the situation and they had no clue anything had occurred. Frankly if you want to be treated like one of her tenants and not a client, Jackie is for you. Since taking back over our property, we have learned that not everything was fixed like we were told it was. At most, they would put a band aid on issues, that way they could charge us again when it would break. If you are needing a property management company DO NOT CHOOSE CHOICE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. If you are with Choice Property Management, find a new management company now!! You will be so much better off. Choice Property Management need to be audited and shut down!!! read more

this management company is bs I rented with them for One year Jackie was harassing me about things not even required on my lease and then at the end of my term I paid steam pro to do the carpets and I paid Cici's pure cleaning company to come in and do the apartment from top to bottom and they took $275 out for 5 1/2 hr cleaning and supplies how?! the Place was SPOTLESS on top of that I paid steam pro to do the carpet and it was in worse condition when I moved in than when I moved out And they took $170 for that! I had many many problems getting maintenance and the plumbing in this place was out rages they had things on my lease that I had no access too and for damn sure shouldn't have been required to do. read more

She will send you false invoices for work that she never did. She will threaten to put a lien on your property if you decide you don't want to work with her anymore. I did not have an issue with Choice Property Management until I was getting ready to move out AND after I moved out. That is the only reason I gave them two stars instead of one. At the time to renew the lease, I asked CPM if I could move to a month to month contract because I was choosing a grad program and I was not sure if it would be in the area. A CPM worker got approval from the owner to do this and we signed the paperwork. When I called to let them know two months in advance that I would be moving out, Jackie Stevenson essentially made me feel like shit for giving them no time to find a new tenant. She told me that they normally did not do month to month (which I did not know) and that they made SPECIAL accommodations for me. She tried to make me move out a month early to appease their timelines. I refused and I cleaned the apartment spotless when I left. It took them about two months to get my security deposit back to me and when they did they gave me $51 out of $1025 that was initially paid for repairs. All I have to say is make sure you have pictures when you move in documenting everything and when you move out if you decide to rent with CPM. read more

I would strongly encourage both property owners and renters off from working with Choice Property Management. At move-in, the property had not been professionally cleaned, and the closets and drawers were still stuffed with junk. Management refused to do an onsite walkthrough, and insisted that we dispose of the junk ourselves. After a few weeks of calls they had maintenance remove a large piece of furniture from the property for which we had no use. When we reported a broken thermostat, maintenance replaced it with a cheap, nondigital one that gave us no control over the temperature. When we reported that the kitchen drain had been clogged, they charged us nearly 300 dollars to snake it, and blamed us for a clog that we later learned was typical for the building. At move-out we had to call multiple times to have them return our security deposit back to us -- it took nearly two months. We've rented from multiple agencies and landlords before over the past eighteen years. CPM was the most unprofessional by far. read more

This company deserves one star. I wiped all the surfaces, mopped the floor, cleaned up everything, and hired the cleaning service to clean the carpets before leaving the condo in the end of February. My roommate and I were still charged a nearly $400 of cleaning fee, which is unreasonable. According to the contract, the deposit was to be returned within 45 days of termination of the agreement but we received our deposits on 10th May, 72 days after moving out. I contacted Jackie several times after 45 days and Jackie just ignored us and didn't reply at all. This property management company is the worst I have ever dealt with. read more

My experience with Jackie Stevenson and Central Property Management is she they are spiteful towards their tenants who give them honest reviews and they are the "slumlord" type who doesn't want to pay people back their security deposit who rightfully deserve it. My apartment was sold to CPM after my last rental payment. Therefore the only thing to be done was for me to move my things out, do a walk through, and get my deposit from them. Someone entered my apartment about a week before my move out date and when I got ahold of Jackie Stevenson she gave some lame excuse. Nobody had the right to come into my home and take pictures for any reason with my belonging still inside, that was to be done after I had a chance to move out and thoroughly clean, which I did when I moved out! I gave her a review because I feel that was valuable information people should consider before renting and she gave me $50 of my $460 security deposit out of spite for my honest review. Ridiculous. Her rentals are also overpriced and you get never get an answer from the office. Extremely unprofessional and poorly ran. Sad!! I hope this helps someone in the future. read more

These reviews are all true...don't ignore them. It's hard to average a one star review without totally being incompetent. The owner, Jackie Stevenson, will try and make light of these reviews and start listing all her many credentials. She will try and make herself sound way better than the service she provides. Anyone that needs to drop their credentials and supposed expertise all the time should be the first clue that their service and practice isn't doing the talking. CMP listed our property as a 3 bed 1.5 bath and then called two weeks after listing to make sure we were aware it was actually a 2 bed and not a 3 bed. CMP misrepresented our property and listed it incorrectly. IF this doesn't speak to gross mismanagement, I don't know what does. After that point, it was clear that Jackie hadn't been in our house or even looked at the Zillow listing, or actually listened to us as clients when we told her about the property, or read the information we filled out as requested by them. This is a pretty big detail to screw up. Mispresenting our property caused us a loss of getting tenants in the property and potential income. She also promised us she could get us a high rent price which never happened. Some Yelp reviews are vindictive in nature but all of these reviews have the common theme of awful customer service provided by Jackie Stevenson and Choice Property Management. Don't be like me and ignore these reviews and instead drink the Kool-Aid that she offers. Run very fast the other way!! I don't drop too many one-star reviews, but Jackie Stevenson just earned one. My old property manager retired and I had to find a new one, and contacted a few in the South Bend area. Some of them responded. By accident, I confused Jackie Stevenson's company with another company with which I had signed a contract, and, at Jackie's request, sent $500 to her account, specifically to manage the properties and transition from old property manager to new one. When the new company pointed out my mistake, I sent an email to Jackie apologizing for the mix-up and requesting that she refund the $500 I had sent to her. Even though she had done nothing, she replied that she would keep my $500 to pay for her time and the supposed time that her insurance agent had spent in getting an insurance quote on one of the properties I own. Mind you, I never saw a quote and never once had any communication with this phantom insurance agent; I never even heard his name. And Jackie's time? I think it was about 2-3 short emails and a 5-minute phone call--maybe 15 minutes soaking wet-- and she never once told me that she would be charging for her time. She was just looking for excuses to keep my money. I contacted my bank and, by someone's good graces, the $500 wire transfer had not gone through. I canceled it. Jackie then wrote me a nasty note about how karma was going to get me because of how I do business. Sorry, Jackie, but you're a crook. You tried to keep money that positively did not belong to you. I would also add that Jackie's tone when communicating with me was antagonistic. I would have put up with her tone had she not tried to steal from me. As it is, good riddance, Ms. Stevenson. i was trying my hardest to get this house and after the way finally got back to me pn a tour of the place they said to call 30 mins beforw going to confirm that I was going. I called a hour ahead instead just to show how excited how was of getting the chance to view this home and they acted like they could hear me then when I called back they wouldn't answer at all so I left a voicemail thinking they'd look at it like normal people do. When I got to the place at 2:50 it looked like nobody was there so I tried calling again, when I did that they finally answered ( mad coincidence now that it's showing time ) and told me that the ladie who was supposed to show the house was already on her way back to the office because they didn't know if I was coming or not.. when I called 4 times and left a voice mail... so I asked just for a application so I can just try and apply to get things rolling so nobody gets the house under me right.. I get a call the next day with a lady telling me somebody got the house.. when I asked the lady said there wasn't anybody really moving on the place so there was a large possibility of me getting the home... This company is absolutely horrible! As a former tenant, they are not only rude but when a call is made, they do not answer the phone and you have to call several times to get any work done. They took months to fill a vacancy. As an example (one of many) there was a repair that needed done and their excuse was "we don't know who to contact". You're a management company! Well the new manager used Google, found a company, and the issue was fixed within a week after being an issue for 4 months. Beware of this company. After letting Jackie Stevenson manage a property for me I can say that I would avoid doing business with her and Choice Property Management at all costs. If her price gouging wasn't enough ($52 for a garage door opener battery + installation.) She verbally told me rents would be paid within days, when in actuality it was typically 20-22 days into the month with an apology and excuses about personal drama. The final straw was her cleaning out a tenant's belongings just days after they paid rent. And then stealing the $280 out of a trust fund to 'clean out the home' even though the tenant was still paying rent and living there! She also charged and then withdrew management fees' for the next 4 months of rent! The tenant was so upset he moved out after his items were stolen by this crook. I gave her what I considered a fair offer to return the management fees and cleaning fee's and I wouldn't post anything negative for her screw up. However, she denied any wrongdoing and threatened to take me to court for canceling her contract, (which her own contract states I may do at any time.) I'd urge anyone to avoid business with this business and woman. read more
