We can't begin to express our gratitude to CFA for 1) their care for children who need families, 2) their care for birthparents (in decision making to parent or create an adoption plan, during pregnancy, at the hospital, & post-placement through support groups, follow up relationships & ongoing contact facilitation), and 3) their wisdom & support for adoptive parents. There's SO MUCH more that we could say, but these 3 qualities have been the theme for our 3 year relationship with CFA (from introduction to the agency, to home study, to matches, to placement & beyond). They've visited with our daughter's birthmom & keep in touch with her through phone calls & email, supporting her in her goals & healing, a staff member came to our daughter's first birthday (by invitation ;)), & we can call or email them any time we have a question or want advice about our contact agreement. (And by the way, the advice we get is not only about what's best for our daughter & family, but what's best for our daughter's birthmom/family in different seasons). My husband and I researched several adoption agencies. We weren't really sure what to expect but one thing that was extremely important to us was that the agency we chose treated birth parents with genuine respect. We attended the informational meeting at Christian Family Adoptions and immediately felt a connection with their vision to really love and care for birth parents. We also liked the fact that Christian Family Adoptions (CFA) was a local (Portland, Northwest) agency. We could actually contact our case workers and ask all kinds of questions -- which we did -- and not just feel like a number. Being on an adoption journey can be a very vulnerable place and our case worker walked us through every step of the process. We honestly didn't know that much about open adoptions and were a little bit uncertain about having an open adoption. The staff at CFA were so non-judgmental of what we didn't know. They gave us lots of great information to help us understand the journey that we were on. We were soon matched with the sweetest couple who were choosing adoption for their little one. We brought our daughter home in 2012. In 2014 we began the process again. We adopted a son in 2016. The details of each adoption story is unique and we are thankful that CFA was the agency we chose for both adoptions. To us the staff there feel like family. My husband and I recently completed the adoption of our son through Christian Family Adoptions. We cannot say enough good things about this group of people! From the very first meeting until the very end of our process, they have been encouraging, supportive and very knowledgeable about every detail. We worked with Gayle and Julie at different times throughout the adoption and the love and care these ladies pour into each family and expectant mother is so impressive. My husband and I adopted our daughter through Christian Family Adoptions in 2012, and we are starting the adoption process again! CFA supported our daughter's birth parents through counseling and they supported her birth parents before and after the adoption finalized. CFA also helped my husband and I build a relationship with our daughter's birth family before and after she was adopted! We continue to have a relationship with her birth parents, and I'm excited that my daughter will know her them and have a relationship with them. We had a great experience with CFA. They walked us through all the paperwork and the whole process. They matched us with another agency and from the time we had paperwork complete to the time we had our new daughter in our arms was only 10 days! I know that isn't typical, but I do know we would not have met this birth mom without the help of CFA. Our daughter had medical issues at birth and CFA was really there for us even though we were out of state. They called and text to check in daily while we were in the hospital. Finding an adoption agency was the hardest decision we've ever made. I can't imagine how hard it must be for a birth mom.
