Located in the city square this is one of the more prominent restaurants in Oaxaca. There is an amazing rooftop where you can dine and watch the events in the square. With a nice breeze it is the perfect setting and vibe. The food is tasty and service relatively quick. I loved how they toasted the tortilla. With Oaxaca cheese it cannot be beat. read more

I stopped by one of the many mayordomo locations as I was exploring the centro area. I was interested in trying out the sweet bread here since Oaxaca has so many Pan de Muerto options. I was recommended by the worker to try the pan de yema. In order to get your sweet bread, you have to pay and then show the workers your ticket. Once paid I made sure to all the lady for a soft piece as I know at times Mexican bread can soon become hard when it's not as fresh anymore. The lady assured me that she would and instead the bread was not as expected. When I tried to explain to her that it wasn't soft as I wanted so low key caught an attitude, walked away to her co workers, and tried to justify not giving me another one. Thankfully they told her to check and give me what I requested. The second one still wasn't soft but it was better, a little. I say all this to say big franchises in Mexico truly lack customer service skills. So just take your coins to another location. I'm giving this place two stars as the bread was still good and the workers did try to make it better. I just couldn't get over the fact that the girl was snobby about making things right when she knows she gave me some hard bread. read more

Choco Mio, Siempre Frio! This ice cold chocolate shake was unexpectedly the most delicious sweet treat I could ask for. Coming in at 25 pesos, I couldn't help but drink one each day I was there! Chocolate Mayordomo is a chocolate chain around the city of Oaxaca and it serves much more than this frosty treat, but unfortunately, I was too ensnared with the cool beverage to try much else. It did seem like they sold food at some of their larger chains and different types of cocoa beans and chocolates to-go! Chocolate Mayordomo is the "Starbucks" version of this chocolate restaurant chain. Although they specialize in chocolate items, you can order anything from frozen drinks to different pastries. I ordered the chocolate de Agua which was really good and I liked how they served me a cup right in front of me. I wasn't too crazy about the crepes I ordered. I really enjoyed the pan ducks that we ordered. Only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was because our server hardly passed by to ensure we were okay. Before my trip to Oaxaca I didn't know that those people were hardcore chocolate people until I visited Chocolate Mayordomo a chain in the city present all over the place. Seem lik a common place to go. I bought the Premium Chocolate in a hot chocolate which was very good. I then decided to eat the chocolate alone which had this Cacao feeling, a bit grainy but OMG delicious! The store sells Mole which is not the same as the English word, it's a Chocolate with bean sauce which is amazing in the city and is well known to have the best Mole in the country. I didn't taste the one from chocolate Mayordomo but they sold some and other souvenir type of gismo for Chocolate lovers. read more

You can smell the chocolate from 1 block away, specially when your walking. I just love coming here and making my own chocolate mixture, the possibilities are endless, but we love the usual almond, sugar & cinnamon. Even better is to eat it when it's still soft and then getting home and be able to form it into any shape you want. There's a Chocolate Mayordomo close to their house, but my mom insist that there is nothing like coming to this location to make your chocolate. Probably when they're preparing your chocolate you'll be going crazy with the amazing smell, so while you're waiting order a cold chocolate milk, it's just perfect!
