    Red velvet truffle
    Carl D.

We were walking around Galena for my son's birthday and came across this little shop. I picked up truffles for the four of us and it was two of the Red Velvet and two chocolate. The flavor was spot on and this is something that I would stop in for again while visiting. The prices were on par and in most cases a little cheaper than what I pay in Chicago.

Expensive, and worth every penny! A must stop when ever we're in Galena. Last time I've had chocolate this good was in Europe. "World class" actually means something in this shop.

" Store owner Bonnie Bellendier envisioned a boutique shop offering the finest of imported and domestic chocolates - so decadent they would be considered the "eighth deadly sin." With its sleek chrome, black tile, and mirror décor, Bonnie created Chocolat to evoke the deco style of Paris in downtown Galena. The French, German and Italian music adds to the store's European ambiance. Bonnie loves to tempt customers with her 225 different flavors of chocolate including specialty items from Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Venezuela. " (Excerpt taken from the website.) Cute candy store, walking in I felt transported to a European chocolatiers shop. The dark room and chilled atmosphere adds to the excitement. 225 flavors of chocolate are waiting and you stand there almost perplexed, unsure what to try first or last ? Most chocolates are a dollar a piece, bigger truffles are a bit more. I couldn't help myself and bought quite a few. Not one bad choice. The dollar pieces are tiny, but full of flavor. Don't misjudge them by size. These chocolates are all imported, so the expense makes sense. Gift boxes carry a higher price tag, you can get a better deal making your own box. If your visiting Galena, make this a must.

I LOVE CHOCOLATE. There is such a delightful array of tantalizing goodies to be found here that it's no wonder my pants never fit after a trip to Galena!

These chocolates are expensive, but as tourists to Galena they were definitely worth it. My wife and I went for a couples massage and some of these chocolates were given to us after. After eating a few of these at the spa we knew we needed to visit the store. I highly recommend getting the smaller chocolates, the chocolate dipped bacon sounded like so much fun to me but wasn't as much worth it (I could've made it myself). The small ones are AMAZING!!!

High priced -- very, very, yet, nice. Though the ice cream was very mild tasting and watery, though cold - with ice in it.

I felt compelled to leave this review because exceptional service like hers deserves to be recognized. From the moment we sat down, Lexi was attentive, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. She had an answer to every single question we asked -- not just about the menu, but about the business itself. She knew so much about Bread & Vine that I genuinely thought she might be the owner. That level of pride and understanding is rare and speaks volumes about her professionalism. What really stood out was how accommodating and engaging she was. She made thoughtful recommendations, not only for food and drinks, but also for other places to visit and things to do around Galena. It truly elevated our entire experience. Because of her suggestions and the way she described everything so well, we ended up ordering (and purchasing) more than we originally planned -- simply because we trusted her recommendations. Lexi is the kind of employee every business hopes to have. She represents Bread & Vine with confidence, warmth, and expertise. She absolutely deserves recognition -- and in my opinion, a raise -- for the way she goes above and beyond for guests. I hope she sees this and I hope this reaches someone as important as her. We'll definitely be back, and a big reason why is Lexi.

Our server Carol helped my wife and me and her party as well that day. They were complaining from the time they walked in. When they asked for special treatment and got it (ordering breakfast during lunch), Michelle chose not to eat. As a former business owner, I do not like it when people leave hit job type reviews when they are not deserved. I am only surprised that no one has reviewed Big Bill's since. I was not going to review the place as I have reviewed it before. It hasn't changed - it's still great. We were staying at 305 North Inn up the street and took advantage of the $10 per person per day credit they offered at Big Bill's. Every day our servers were responsive and the food delicious. You can't go wrong. The prices are still low and the environment is still warm and inviting. I'm impressed!
